Gahhh I finished reading Volume 7 today...

...but good news is, Volume 8 is on its way~~~!
Kino just shipped it out today ♡!

So... more food talk in Volume 7 but it ended with a trip(for work lol) to Albert's family domain near the borders. There were teasing... and hugs (KYAAA!)... and him losing his cool over Sei... I think I'll go reread that last chapter again because I'm easily pleased with such tiny(?) love developments ♡. Oh yeah his family domain has many kinds of cheeses and wines, and it has hot springs... when I read all that, I thought it's like kind of a big win for Sei (cheese fondues and onsen yay).. I guess the only con is it's far from the royal capital...?

Fun

Posted in: # Mass Effect | 2023 posts | Happy Sunday | Interest: Games | Our Water Woes

Today has been kind of great so far.

First, water pressure is normal most of the day. I got to use the clean tub function on the washing machine. Also washed two batches of laundry. That's how good the water pressure is today.

Then... *let me turn on my geek fangirl mode* Today I realised I might have maxed my medigel etc capacity at 6. So, that's nice to know. I should start playing more Silver matches from now on.

I've been having fun on Mass Effect multiplayer recently because I got some challenges to complete. I'm doing things out of my comfort zone (like not using my favourite characters and Black Widow) and it's soooo fun. FUN! Like... I usually play as a sniper but I realised there are other weapons in the game that can act almost like a sniper rifle (Executioner!!!). Although if it's not a one-shot kind, I'm okay with it anyway (like I said, "out of my comfort zone" lol).

I need to reread Skip Beat!

Posted in: 2022 posts | Big Goal and Small Goal | Happy Sunday | Life: Anecdotes | Manga | My Fangirl Side | Pick-A-New-Book Jar | Reading

Title is just me being excited after catching up with "Skip Beat!" :P
Why is Ren ♡♡♡ so handsome in the recent chapters??? Can I redo my catch-up again and swoon over this handsome man once more???

Oh wow. That phone camera is usable again.

I was trying to log into the web version of Whatsapp. Before, I had to use the front camera to scan the QR code so that's what I did just now. Then I realised it's showing something else - the camera at the back is working...!

SO WEIRD. Doesn't look like the system got an update or something. And now, after almost three months, the camera can be used again. But.. from the beginning I already know the camera is not broken since it opened fine in another app, only it's flipped - that's another unsolved mystery - and now it's working again.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

May's
Big goal:
Clean my room

Small goal:
Read this book

I started cleaning my room very late so it's far from completion lol. This is very expected of me. I was unmotivated and lazy. I kept saying "I'll do it tomorrow."

Small goal was completed pretty early. "365 Ways to Live Happy" was 6.58% helpful for me. I am glad that I finished it so now I won't be left wondering what it's about and how helpful it will be.

This month's goals... I'm kind of worried that I'll still be unmotivated so I'm thinking of doing easy ones. Although to be honest, I don't know what is considered easy for me now *sigh*. I'll try anyway.

Big goal:
Finish 3 books from my currently-reading list.

I want to focus on books I started some time ago though so here are the books I selected from the list:
➊ A Natural History of the Piano
➋ Pengakuan
➌ The Rover
➍ Inkdeath
➎ The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

Small goal:
Finish a book every week.

Perfect pairing XD! So starting today that would be like 4 books until the end of month? This is almost like cheating (since I was able to finish most of my books from the jar within a week recently) but it's easy so I'll take it! Though I can easily change (hopefully not!) so anything can happen... This might not be as easy as I thought.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

LOL feels so weird doing the BGSG report thing together with picking books from the jar~

So today's book is.....

*shakes*

*picks a title*

...."Piranesi" by Susanna Clarke.

!!!!!

Jar is being nice today... or it's just my luck is good lol~  Been waiting to get this from the jar since I finished "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell". Had to skip watching people's reviews on Youtube because I don't want to know anything before I read it. I also don't want to get my expectations high.

Now I'm going to read it!

Goodbye, thank you for coming, end of post! *runs to bookshelf*

OMG

Posted in: 2022 posts | F. Scott Fitzgerald | Happy Sunday | Pick-A-New-Book Jar

Jar time! :P

*shakes*
*pulls out a folded paper*

"Tender is the Night" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Mentioned in a post last April.

O. M. G.

I was just thinking "Maybe I'll get Fitzgerald today"...

LOOOL

Anyway.. I'm thinking- no. I decided to not pick new books from the jar at the end of the month. The last two weeks of January that is. Just thought that I should help myself achieve the big goal. Next week's will depend on this week.

Happy Sunday ♡

Posted in: # My Fair Princess | 2021 posts | blog images | Happy Sunday | Knit/Crochet Stuff | My Fangirl Side | Pick-A-New-Book Jar | Qiong Yao 瓊瑤 | Reading | 蘇有朋

Having a super great morning~

Slept early last night but woke up 3 hours later... nothing new there.

What makes it great is... I have finished knitting 2nd haramaki!!! This was what got me into learning how to knit for real last year. Found this particular pattern at that time and started wishing to have one.

Feeling very accomplished :)

But this isn't mine though (Mine is to be in grey colour *coming soon*). Made this for my mother.

It looks like a skirt and it's hefty! Might be too warm for the weather here haha... But I believe it's still usable during cold weather or in cold rooms.

I don't know if I want to start my grey haramaki soon after this. Hmmm should I go and learn how to crochet now?... since I reached this milestone already. Honestly, haven't thought of what to knit next (other than the grey haramaki).

And again, we have three photos with different lighting...

If I remember correctly, at least half of this was knitted when I watched "My Fair Princess" on dimsum. Since the platform is going away this month, I've been binge-watching MFP from the first season. Currently, I'm watching the second season together with the third season. The advantages of knowing how it ends really help here XD. Probably part of the reason I haven't finished reading those two books is because I was (am) busy watching this lol

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Back to the main event hohoho

I think I won't even get mad if I pull a thick or difficult book today (probably). I feel so happy today.

*picks from jar*
.
.
.
"The Gambler".

OMG (secretly relieved)

My second book by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Honestly, I didn't really like "Crime and Punishment". But I read that in 2014 so I probably should try rereading it in the [very] far future to see if I have a change of heart. I don't remember much other than thinking the main character whiny or something. Don't know how I'll fare with this... At least I'm glad that it's not as long as "Crime and Punishment".

Late but it's okay

Posted in: 2021 posts | Happy Sunday | The Weather Looks...

Today Sunday lives up to its name by being a sunny day. At least until the sun went down (and it rained a bit *sigh*). Yesterday's laundry dried completely by the time I took them in. So I think it's a win.

Although I did wake up late today. So I started my book late too (lol). Tried sleeping early last night but ended up waking at midnight (sigh) and couldn't sleep until it's 4am. ...baby steps!

Binge-reading

Posted in: # Mass Effect | 2021 posts | blog images | Happy Sunday | Reading

I basically binge-read Leftover Princess series these few days.  My eyes hurt... It has been a while since I read like this. Years, probably.

Also, I finished "that". That one book in my pile of shame. Managed to finish it within this year. So.. yeah.  Had to "bribe" myself with rewards of Leftover Princess reading time lol.

「Again」is Today's Keyword

Posted in: 2021 posts | blog images | Happy Sunday | Online Shopping Bag

...or more like "Again?!" bwahaha

The highlight of the day, Ninja Van delivery... on a Sunday!
Did they see me complaining on my blog? lol (Of course not)

"Dubliners" & "Madame Bovary" - These are in the same series with "The Great Gatsby" that I own - palm-sized and thick bible paper. Chose these two because I have 25% interest in reading them (not that many choices left really).

"No Plot? No Problem!" - Saw on GR that this is from NaNoWriMo's founder... I'm hoping that this will motivate me to finish my fanfiction XD

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Must always remind self this: "I shouldn't think too long about things that are out of my control. Especially if they take too much effort and time to do/maintain."

Better Than Expected

Posted in: 2021 posts | Happy Sunday | Online Shopping

Did some clean-up near the piano area today... so I feel a bit accomplished today.

Started reading "Mansfield Park" and I need to do some catching up if I'm still joining the GR group's readalong schedule I mentioned previously. So far, it's actually interesting...? I don't really know what I was expecting but it's been nice. For now. Quite refreshing because this is something written by Jane Austen that I haven't read before. I don't know what will happen later. Haven't felt suspense like that with her works for so long.

*sigh* Been looking at BBW's shopee listing again. Already found 3 books I might (MIGHT!) want for 7.7 sale. Let's hope that I will change my mind later.

I Hear Thunder

Posted in: 2021 posts | blog images | Happy Sunday | Knit/Crochet Stuff | Reading | The Weather Looks...

At the moment I'm doing this post, it's raining hard outside. And there's also thunder. -end of weekly weather report (lol)

Reading
I finished reading "Malice" today. Didn't see that coming. I haven't even chosen what to read after that. I guess this just shows how much I love mysteries because curiosity makes you keep reading [until the end]. I don't think the book is that mind-blowing but the plot twists were soooo good. No wasteful wall of text to explain everything. Just straight-to-the-point storytelling and I liked that very much.

That's just my preference though. Anyone else might say otherwise.

Also, the reason I was able to finish it this fast (by my standard) might be because the text size is quite big. Very easy for the eyes.

Knitting
Might start 2nd haramaki project soon. Finished knitting the phone case my sister requested. Didn't think of taking photos. I just gave it to her straight away yesterday. Ah.. I should finish that headband with cable too (been doing that bit by bit when I'm in the mood).

Two Hours

Posted in: 2021 posts | Books | Happy Sunday | My Possessive Side

2 hours. That was how long I organised by bookshelf for today. I actually organised most of the shelf by this point but...
  • It's worse today. Found more books I want to read especially the thick ones. I've kept them for so long, it's about time to read them. Then I mocked myself, "Would you be able to finish them though?" *Shut up, me!*
  • And there are also unread books that I want to read but not now. Like I don't even want to put them together in that unread/new corner. So where should I put them?
  • I don't think I'll be able to follow a system because of how biased I am to some of the books. So it has to be simplified. In the end, I started thinking "Whatever!" and just pick books I want on display and put the rest in the bottom cabinet shelf thing (I don't know what to call them). It's basically like a cold palace.. but for books.. and it's not cold... nevermind.
  • Other than the new/unread books I want to read, there are also books I want to reread. Yup, I'm becoming too ambitious. I have to remember to slow down!
  • Also, I found books I have to re-wrap. Yes, I'm the type that use plastic covers on my books. Not all of them. I still do it now. I know they keep the covers protected with experience. I won't resell them in the future, I think? Maybe I'll donate to the local library but I don't have plans to sell them again. Once they're purchased, they are part of the family *overdramatic haha*. They will be stamped with my name and the date I got them. Which I just realised doesn't sound like a healthy family after typing it out but whatever XD
  • I found some books with read dates at the back, written with pencil. This was a habit I had before I fell into a reading slump. I'm thinking of doing it again because it's helpful for keeping records. I can put the dates in Goodreads (already did it for "Black Beauty" / Shelved in 2021 but read in 2008 haha).

Not sure if I'll continue tomorrow... Organising is such a pain when you realise you don't have enough dedicated space and have to improvise.

Just thinking about it makes me feel tired. *long sigh*

Good Sunday

Posted in: 2021 posts | Happy Sunday | Reading

Managed to spend about 3 hours clearing dust and re-arrange a table in my room. A minor progress, but it's still progress so I'll say it's a win for today. Still have to continue tomorrow though, if I can. I usually skip a day after handling that amount of dust. Maybe I can just do the organising. I'm pretty excited to organise my bookshelf.

Finished reading "Persuasion". Reading it this time feels like I'm in a gossip club or something haha. I do still like it. Other than Elizabeth Bennet, Anne Elliot is also one of my favourite Jane Austen heroine. I think my least favourite is Emma Woodhouse, the last time I read "Emma". But... I actually managed to read Emma twice. I actually enjoyed it. Ahh... now I feel like reading it again.... but it's so long

Knitting Progress

Posted in: 2021 posts | Happy Sunday | Knit/Crochet Stuff

Nothing much happened today but I'll still call it a Happy Sunday!

You'll get these for today:

Progress photos of my haramaki. Looks more purple today but still not as purple (or purplish blue?) as how I see it. Anyway, progress! Oh and I just realised the side I'm facing while knitting is the wrong side because the other side looks prettier. But I don't think it really matters [for this]... Depends on which side you like.

Wrong side?

The inside looks prettier

The leg warmer is almost done too (no photo lol). After that one is finished, I might do this seed stitch cowl from Sheep & Stitch.

I still have to pace my knitting... Because I'm still feeling some pain in my thumbs (yup both hands). And that haramaki is getting heavy! Maybe I should put it on the table or use a pillow on my lap to elevate it?

Sleepy Sunday

Posted in: 2021 posts | Books | Happy Sunday | My Paranoid Side | My Worrying Side | Reading

"Every problem has a solution. But there's no guarantee that the solution will be found immediately. The same holds true in our lives. We encounter several problems to which the solutions are not immediately apparent in life. There is value to be had in worrying about those problems when you get to them. But never feel rushed. Often, in order to find the answer, you need time to grow first. That's why we apply ourselves, and learn as we go." - Yukawa Manabu, A Midsummer's Equation (Higashino Keigo)

Finished the book this morning. What is sleep anyway? I like this quote so I'm sharing it here. I think the book was okay. It's just like when I watched the movie... if I remember correctly. It's a different story but man, I'm really amazed by Tsutsumi Shinichi's acting in the "Suspect X" movie (haven't read the book though!). It haunts me. I still don't have the courage to watch the Chinese version (directed by Alec Su btw) because I don't want to compare. What I want to say is, I don't remember much from the "Midsummer's" movie which I think meant it's quite... forgettable? I guess there wasn't anyone that gave the same impact with Tsutsumi's performance.

I don't usually have strong reactions towards other adaptations. So far, I can recall two that I find displeasing (displeasing pfft) - The Korean version of HanaDan (BIG NO from me; I actually watched it until the end years ago) and Jane Eyre 2011 movie (can't finish it; the impression of the 2006 version is too strong for me). Shut up stans, this is my blog!  Yeah not going to elaborate on that - let's just say that I'm not a fan of their acting.

And... oh... erm.. I can talk about what I'm reading after "Midsummer's" but I'll wait until I'm one or two chapters in.. *whispers* I'm afraid that it will jinx my reading progress. I'm so afraid of falling back into a reading slump. I'm capable of ignoring the books I'm reading for months (& years!).

Blue Rainy Sunday

Posted in: # Love of the Aegean Sea | 2021 posts | blog images | Happy Sunday | Reading

When I woke up today, I felt like this: "Hmmm... maybe I don't wanna read that anymore [today]..."

I was this close to abandoning "Love of the Aegean Sea" novel again. So... I finished it this morning. Phew. I started re-reading this in 2016, lost the mood to read it for years and picked it up again this year.

It's weird reading this after so many years. Now my way of thinking is different from before and I feel that I appreciate Yao Xiang more now.

Some other things I learnt from reading this again:
- Long distance relationship is scary. It might or might not work.
- Take care of your health.
- Be honest. Like seriously. If you only see someone as family, please don't give them hopes.
- Keeping everything inside is not healthy. When those feelings burst out, it will be scary... especially for others.
- The more you hold back from wanting something, the more you want it.
- I'm so rusty. Forgot how to read some chinese characters.
- I need to do more piano practice. *sigh*

This photo on the back cover is a big lie XD
*In the novel, they never met like this in Greece*

AIbou

Posted in: # AI: The Somnium Files | 2021 posts | Happy Sunday | Interest: Games | My Fangirl Side

I finally finished "AI: The Somnium Files". Whoa. Kinda expected that but couldn't think of the reason and how. I love it despite being indifferent towards some of the major characters (bordering on dislike for one of them *sigh*). Like, I DON'T REALLY CARE about these characters (I kept thinking 「どうでもいい」「で?」)... but I need them for the endings that explain stuff. I'm not sure if I'm just irritated by the character or I just don't like their voice (I chose japanese audio). Anyway. Love the story, characters (except those I don't), music &... [eye] puns! I'm a sucker for puns so.. yeah, accept & live with that fact, thank you. Also, my eyes hurt the next day because some scenes made me shed tears.

At the end, I'm a bit confused about how to feel... ("What do I do with this feeling?").. I understand the story but since my favourite ending is Mizuki's, I'm like uuhh.. this is confusing lol

Now I suddenly have the urge to play "Zero Escape: The Nonary Games"... although I'm eyeing "Steins;Gate" too... (the anime messed up my brain lol)

5 New Things I Found Out About Myself Recently.

Posted in: 1st post | 2019 posts | Happy Sunday | Life: Anecdotes | NaBloPoMo | Tumblr of the Day

Tumblr post of the day:
https://ruyandaplus.tumblr.com/post/188458287703/2019-is-almost-over-and-all-i-gotta-say-is-what
Sigh.

It's the first day of December 2019. So, hello.. December...? After cleaning up the photobucket mess on this blog, I got somewhat motivated to start blogging again. I want to revive this blog... probably - I say PROBABLY - will attempt to blog everyday for this final month of year 2019.

I'm going to start with this:

5 New..ish(?) Things I Found Out About Myself Recently.
Yeah. Maybe new or new-ish? I guess I'm finally acknowledging them in a post..? Also some might be related to each other.

(1) I have a dark side. - Kind of realised this when I was working with a private company (2017-18) in a.. very highly toxic work environment. Maybe it was my defence mechanism at work but oh boy I'm still left wondering "What was that?" after I quit. It doesn't help that I'm still hurting inside now, which encourages that dark side to come out at times.

(2) I'm not a fan of hand-shaking. - Simple. I got sick several times after shaking someone's hand. I know it doesn't always start from there but urghh I just can't stand it. I'll have my hand sanitiser ready for any occasions that needs that. Bonus: People coughing behind me or sneezing nearby is one of my current pet peeves.

(3) I'm probably a Machiavellian. - Also something I realised when I was working. This might belong under (1).. but I had tried to manipulate some situations (like intentionally spreading my thoughts to well-known office gossipers). *sigh* I might had also played devil's advocate to certain people with intentions of getting a better work environment (it didn't happen, but last time I heard, one of my senpai who got bullied often because she's a total pushover managed to leave that place). I believe that I did all that with good intentions and for self-protection in a toxic environment (it was truly something like "kill or be killed" situation).

Please don't enquire more about this. I'm not ready to tell.

(4) My "black years" phase never ended. - It happened again when I was in the university. Which might have played a part in my dropping out of university. I tried seeking out help from the uni's student counselling office. I mentioned that I might have depression but the idea was instantly dismissed because, in her own words, "You will need to take medication if it's depression."  ┐(´д`)┌  Anyway. It resurfaced after I quit my job last year. Honestly, I feel like I'm half dead since then.

(5) I've thought of death in a way I never do in the past. - Yep. It was when I was working in a... *I'm tired of repeating it at this point but here goes...* toxic environment. You can expect some kind of negative drama every week at my old place of work.. it could be a blaming game and then a backstabbing game next week. It didn't take long for me to see that my job there was a position very looked-down upon and highly bullyable by other workers. It was a really frustrating time and at times I had thought that dying would be easier. I think that was the first time I had such mild suicidal thoughts.

Okay, let me just get this straight here. I don't have those thoughts NOW after I quit but I have my morbid, negative moments. Yeah.. erm I don't really know how this works but I have something inside me that tells me not to do it. It's not worth it. Honestly, I think I'm in some kind of depression limbo throughout this year so I can't offer any assuring words but I want to believe that I'm healing inside.

So.. sorry for that gloomy stuff in the end.

This is me at the start of December 2019.

宜しくお願いします<(_  _)>
