A post that I should've posted 3 days ago lol... (at least I added more today)

WuWa - I finally beat that Level 120 Lightcrusher!
Unfortunately, I didn't take a screenshot of getting the trophy pop-up because I was too excited haha

Yup Jiyan didn't survive XD (had to revive the team several times)

I have a Level 120 Lumiscale Construct & a pair of Lvl 100 Glacio Dreadmanes left... *sigh*

I'm not really good at dodging so my strategy (lol) for this was... Aalto. He saved me when I stumbled upon Scorpion's Nest (my Rover & Jiyan were dead at that point) by killing the remaining Diamondclaws. Started appreciating him more after that lol. At first he was just that convenient gun character :P... I chose him because I kinda like how he looks. Didn't realised until later that he's actually a good fit for the team (I just have to use him first before Jiyan). I did changed his main echo (usually it's Bell-Borne Geochelone) to Lumiscale Construct because it can parry attacks (and actually gave higher Glacio damage, I noticed, although that's not the main point lol). I also waited until I could get Aalto's skills (the important ones, at least) to Level 7 or 8 and his weapon (Static Mist) upgraded to Level 80.

M3GAN

Oh hey, finally finished watching this last night (3 days ago so... 7/26)... Oof. It's not good. I find the main characters annoying and unlikable. The true villain is the aunt really... Also, it's kind of annoying how the characters kept asking questions (I sound like I'm nit-picking at this point lol)... I guess they really don't want to tell why M3GAN is like that (content for the sequel, maybe?). [Anyway.. saw a review on Letterboxd that mentioned about the Asimov's First Law of Robotics... Unfortunately, the programming of the robot in this one totally didn't follow that XD which is... fine(?), I guess, if they want to do it their rules. But it still feels dirty for some reason.. which brings us back again to the aunt being the villain for not thinking far enough]

I stumbled upon this site few nights ago. It's interesting to compare my records with their estimated time of finishing a book. I did their reading test and got 227/232 WPM (honestly it's not the kind that is easy for me to read so I'm not surprised I got that). I think it really depends on the genre and writing style really. In my case, at least. When I'm obsessed with the book/series, it's like I read faster than usual lol

Very Sleepy

The water is back! Finally!

Actually... I think it's back since yesterday but for some reason the water pressure wasn't strong enough to refill the water tank upstairs.

Honestly, I was so stressed out I had restless sleep these three days. Got so sleepy last night (probably due to that) and slept like a log through the night.

These books arrived today.

I'll admit that they were the result of stress-shopping two days ago XD. It really went "F*ck it, I'm doing this." In my defence though, they are in my want-to-read list soooo.... at least they're not chosen randomly. Shipping was so expensive (T_T)... but worth it - still worth the price when you add shipping (divided by two) for each book since...

...it's more than double the BX price (+shipping) on Amazon SG:

The shipping fee was RM20, somewhat unavoidable because shipping to Sabah has always been like that (to be honest though, it's more reasonable nowadays.. it was at least over RM30 using DHL 10-20 years ago).

We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story - I'm kind of a fan of Simu Liu after watching "Shang-Chi". Got curious about his life story (those stock photos surprised me!) so I've wanted to read it since two years ago.

Lol just realised Ryan Reynolds did a blurb for the book

The Complete Alien Collection: The Shadow Archive - It's 3-books-in-1! (Out of the Shadows, Sea of Sorrows, River of Pain). I'm a bit worried seeing one of the author's name now though (he wrote the movie novelization of "Kong: Skull Island" which I gave 1 star to... but that's probably because I also dislike the movie). I'm really hoping my love for the Alien series will be enough to survive reading these three books~ Might do a re-watch of the movies first before reading (because I need to get into the mood lol)

I'll go by chronological order this time - which means I'll start with "Prey" first and end with Alien movies. What fun! The mediocre ones are in the middle so thank god for that....

Short, uh, updates...

♢ The two [VERY CUTE] black kittens were capable(?) enough to climb on (that, or the mother did it) the fence back to neighbour's house so nothing major. Neighbour's cat was just introducing her kittens to ~~another food source~~ us, I guess :P

♢ Made a Letterboxd account yesterday on random lol... I'm a bit surprised that the usual handle I use online ("ruyanda") is still available! Currently I'm trying to log all the movies I've watched (at least the one I remember watching lol) in the past there~

♢ I guess it is a month of window-shopping on Shopee XD... Now I'm looking at reading journals - there aren't much but they exist (and for sale!) on Shopee! Speaking of reading journals, I should probably update my months-abandoned reading journal *sigh*...

♢ Last night I've made a list of books I could or would want to read before the year ends... which I just realised a bit later that it's basically a TBR list lol......

Does it matter

Noticing some small things that I usually just ignore but I find a bit annoying today.

A scene from a movie: Someone says "I believe in you" while shaking their head. I guess it doesn't has to mean that but it's hard not to be suspicious of their motives because I'm used to the negative meaning
High-pitched voices. ...my problem, it's a preference thing.
Starting new books... more than it being annoying, I just find it troublesome really lol
Starting multiple books... This seems to contradict the point before this but hear me out. Recently, I kind of have the urge to start a few at the same time but I don't want to do that! At least not now... (no, wait... it might be fine? should I just commit book affairs?)

Had a very restless sleep. Thanks to having a mild fever (still a fever) and runny nose. *sigh* And that also makes it hard to enjoy reading or watching anything because my brain can't deal with the complexities(?). Gah. Also feeling very irritable. Some things just make me want to say urggh...

2022

Currently I'm re-watching "Avenue 5" again. Coincidentally, the second season is now available... so can't wait to get there.

Wait...! That means it took me almost a year to finish re-watching S1 and watching S2! OMG.. Anyway finished S2 last week. Chaotic ending XD... I guess it's kind of understandable why it happened but I find it a bit annoying seeing Karen aiming for Ryan... surely what happened in the end isn't valid though, she's just twisting facts, right?

I'm also watching "A Quiet Place Part II".

Yeah... haven't finished that movie lol.. I'm not even sure if it's still available for streaming. Currently I'm in the middle of watching "Shin Godzilla" and I can't even finish that in one sitting (T_T)... why can't I sit long enough to finish watching a movie... *sigh*

Current obsession that I'm invested in is... manga. Which is nothing new really lol. I guess to be more specific, the Korean equivalent of manga... which is manhwa. ~~(This is the answer to yesterday's question :P yeah I'm going to drop that casually...)~~

Oooh "Legend of Fei" huh... haven't been watching and Cdramas recently... Oh I am trying to catch up with the second season of "Avenue 5" though... Still love the comedy style! My kind of comedy really, I'm glad to see them again~

I don't hate it

Just finished watching "Meg 2: The Trench" on TV. Why does it feel like watching Jurassic Park movies??? :P... Well, I don't hate it.. The main villain was pretty predictable but the twists(?) related to that was okay I guess... I think they just want the true villain to shine XD (but even that feels like a background thing really.. seriously.. I'm kinda more interested in the one with many arms :P). Hey, at least I like the main characters! I was so surprised by Li Bingbing's absence though (and the way they explained that)!

Today's random anecdote: Went out to receive the food I ordered using FP and the rider suddenly spoke Chinese to me (he asked me to hold the food while he take a photo). Without thinking much, and since it seems more appropriate, I thanked him in Chinese lol. The me who is shy(?) when it comes to speaking other languages to other people [moreover in real life!], doing that? Who am I???

Joker

Some thoughts today~

CMBF #6

Just finished watching both parts of #6. Loved the performances in this episode! Quite amused by Nicholas Teo having a hard time doing an evil smile/laugh for his tribe's song ("Joker")... & their stage concept was really fun (I love the circus theme)! Had goosebumps watching them - I think they deserve their win.

...aaah I guess it's time to make my own Youtube playlist for my favourite performances on "Call Me By Fire" so that I can play them easily in the future~

Anime

Fall season for anime has started (including "The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent" S2!). I think I'm not going to [hopefully] follow many from the beginning... maybe only the familiar ones (I guess it's better that way since I need to re-watch the previous season of some of them...). I'll wait maybe five episodes before deciding to watch any new ones.

Reading

I might try to finish "The Homeward Bounders" tomorrow. Haaah... haven't decide what to read after that.

Some "cleaning"
This will be pretty gross to talk about but I really want to mention it here. We have been having frequent visits by a couple of cats recently (one stray cat, one neighbour's "lost" cat)... and the stray one was being weird! He brought a dead rat and a dead bird and left them in front of the entrance. Gah. Had to dispose them today ASAP before they rot more because I don't want to deal with the dead carcass smell in the future (ahhh I can already imagine the smell......). I guess they're pretty recent because I was still able to be near them [to pick them up].

Found a short web novel today. It had a rough beginning (toxic stepmother and bad stepsister) but I think I laughed most of it because the male lead (a duke this time, for a change) made a contract (that involved a spirit) wanting nothing to do with the wife he's marrying. If she tries to seduce him into bed (=breaks the contract), she'll be cursed. MC is fine with that. The duke isn't. The contract thing was not done according to his wishes (it was his aides' doings, they thought MC is bad), and MC happens to be his long-lost childhood love... so you see... he'll want to break that contract XD -- yeah I was laughing my meanest laugh, waiting for him to realise that muahaha... Fortunately, he's not the one who came up with the contract idea because the contract sounds so terrible... Even if MC was okay with it and even praised how "good" it was/it didn't have any loopholes.

1) In this song, Shawn Mendes pleads with the girl he loves to be careful with his heart. Clearly he feels she's more important to him than he is to her. Do you believe that, in every relationship, someone always loves more?

I believe it, yes. This coming from my experience with non-romantic relationships :P... I do think that it would be the same for romantic ones too. Dare I say that it shouldn't be a problem as long as you communicate your thoughts and feelings with each other? Of course, there are other factors to be considered too but mainly (to me), communication is important.

2) He says that he'd willingly drive through the night just to be near her. Do you enjoy your time behind the wheel? Or do you consider driving necessary but not necessarily pleasurable?

I enjoy driving. I love listening to music while I drive. Although for now, I might need some time to get back to driving since I didn't drive much during the peak of the pandemic. Kind of afraid to return to the roads after so long...

3) He acknowledges that she has good intentions, but she hurt him anyway. Can you think of a time when you unintentionally hurt someone's feelings?

There might be some moments that I don't know about... but for ones that I do know, it happened in Secondary School. I think it was because I made a nonchalant (to me it was that way) comment and it hurt one of my friends' feeling. I don't remember how I know and how it was dealt though. I was still friends with her after that too so I want to believe it didn't ruin our friendship (at that time).

Unfortunately, I do have a tendency of making nonchalant, throwaway remarks at times... especially when I'm trying to hide my real thoughts and feelings. I also experienced making such remarks not aimed to anyone, and someone who I'm indifferent to was offended by it because he thought it was about him. I'm offended that he would think I'll give any thoughts about him at all! *calms self*... anyway, I try not to make nonchalant remarks that often anymore unless I meant for them to be heard. Honestly though, it's hard to know what will trigger someone so I rather have them speak out if they're uncomfortable with what I said so that I can adjust appropriately. I can't read minds, you know?

4) Shawn Mendes was a serious skateboarder during his high school years. Crazy Sam admits she's never even been on a skateboard. How about you? Are you more like Shawn or Sam, or are you somewhere in between?

I'm with Sam on this one. Never been on a skateboard. No plans to get on one in the future :P

5) While in his teens, he taught himself to play guitar while watching YouTube videos. Do you spend a lot of time on YouTube? If yes, what type of videos do you watch most often?

Oooh I spend a lot of time on Youtube, oh yes. I usually watch people play games (preferably horror games), anime (legally, since the channels obtained the official rights for Southeast Asia region), and reading/book youtubers.

6) When he's traveling or busy working, Shawn eats cold cereal for every meal -- breakfast, lunch and dinner. He says it's fast, tasty, and better than the fast food he'd grab otherwise. Will you be getting any meals "to go" this weekend?

Most probably will.

7) In 2016, the year this song was popular, Game of Thrones was TV's hottest show. Were you a fan?

I'm... not. I might watch it in the far future if I'm in the mood.

8) Also in 2016, a German shorthaired pointer won Best in Show at the Westminster Dog Show. Tell us about a dog who holds a special place in your heart.

The dog from the children's book "Where's Spot?" by Eric Hill. Although mine was a Malay translation one so it was called "Mana Si Bulat?" instead (Bulat literally means circle lol). I think. Childhood memories, not really reliable. I remember this particular book being read to me and me rereading several times after that. I think this was one of the few books that spark my interest in reading when I was still a child.

9) Random question: What's the subject line of the top email in your spam folder?
I think my spam folder just got cleared/auto-deleted so it's just "Hooray, no spam here!" now haha...

Possibly the most random highlight of the day: Saw a Phua Chu Kang reunion show(?) today and I enjoyed it very much. I loved watching it back in the day... haven't really done a proper rewatch of the show but now I feel like I want to~

Anyway, today internet is being problematic again. Tried restarting the modem because it has been sluggish recently and it won't connect after that. Sigh. I mean, restarting shouldn't be a problem, right? There must be a something wrong on their side.

Weird Craving

Haven't returned to the book since that day. I think short story collections is my kryptonite. I might have to remove them if I get one from the jar in the future. They are giving me fears like one have for thick books - feels impossible to finish them...

Oh but I kind of like the latest method that I tried to get through them. Doesn't necessarily need to go from shortest to longest... maybe just pick one story at random and not start from the first story.

Kind of been having some weird craving for bloody movies... Is this what I get after I finish those Alien/Predator movies??? WTH lol

Just finished watching the first season of UtaPri. Damn, I still cried watching that scene in the last episode... and I also cried for Ren & Tokiya's episodes before that XD

I know it sounds weird after talking about my previous weird craving but now I want to listen to UtaPri songs lol (UtaPri craving is starting again XD)... maybe I'll also go back to the playing "Shining Live" - JP version, of course. The english version is dead :(

"Prey" is Perfect

I love "Prey"! Wow. Just shows that you don't need those loud, over-the-top modern weapons to fight with a Predator... all those sequels* should be ashamed of themselves. Well, except "Predators" 'cos I like that one. I guess "Predator 2" is still okay but again, I'm not a fan of seeing them in cities :P~ I also realised I like them when there's an element of mystery in it.

*by that I mainly mean "AvP: Requiem" and "The Predator" XD. I'm mostly okay with Alien sequels. I even like "Alien 3" & "Resurrection" :P

So... I actually cried during the credits of "Prey"... Partly because I'm still amazed by the movie and also.. it marks the end of my journey of watching Alien and Predator movies. Ending it with "Prey" is perfect.

Ah.. I want to watch everything again, but by chronological order this time. There's also some list that includes "Blade Runner" (never watched any of the movies properly before) and "Firefly" (including "Serenity" - LOVE THE SERIES). Maybe later, end of year-ish?... I recommended my sister to watch them after I'm done (I was gushing about how cool the aliens are :P) and I wouldn't want to disturb her journey XD.. For now, I'll re-watch Gab's playthrough for a nightmare mode of "Alien: Isolation"...

"The Predator" was okay, I guess... I don't know why it felt like a parody though XD. The thing that appeared at the end was really cool.. kind of want to watch more of that but also don't want to at the same time. Still not a fan of seeing them in the cities (I prefer the wilderness - "Prey" looks good so far).

Sleep is still very much disrupted due to waking up early just to do laundry. Not expecting it to change any time soon. I hate that it has come to this when I just started being able to properly feel sleepy like a normal person end 2021-early 2022. Sleep is a luxury to me. I seldom get to sleep continuously for 7-9 hours. I probably will die early.

Winter Recap 2023

This suddenly appeared in my Youtube mobile app. I'm guessing it's because I [sometimes] listen to Youtube Music...?

Unfortunately mine only has three songs lol.. The other two (I don't know what) got deleted.

These songs are basically songs not available on Spotify.

That Switchfoot song is geoblocked. SixTONES' too (can't even open the artist page). I really loved that anime theme song too, it's a pity that I can only listen to it on Youtube.

The Fall Guys background music - this particular theme song for Puzzle Path - is not available officially. It's so catchy, I can keep listening to it XD

Border OST is apparently my top winter album lol.. Similar to the others, I can only listen to this on Youtube [Music]. It's not on Spotify :( There's this one track that I really like from the dorama and wanted to add to my themed Spotify playlists...

I'm currently in the middle of "The Predator". I think I watched this before too...? but I don't really remember the ending.

I quite like "Alien: Covenant". Liked the characters better than "Prometheus". Crazy story. Wow. Very CRAZY. Loved every moment of it! I think this is the closest they are at doing proper quarantining (though it didn't help much)... that's the one thing I'm always bothered by watching from "Alien". Suddenly, when a close someone is involved, quarantine procedures be damned :/ It's like you're so special you don't need to be quarantined. Totally saw that plot twist at end from miles away lol (it's more interesting that way). Sometimes, I almost want to complain why everyone is acting stupid (at times) and had to remind myself that, it's because they f*cked up that "Alien" happened... We're doomed to seeing them being unsuccessful from the start.

I've decided that I'm a fan(!) after watching "Alien vs. Predator". The xenomorphs are such a cool concept for a scary monster! Unfortunately, the sequel "AvP: Requiem" was quite embarrassing to watch. WTF was that? *sigh* maybe I just don't like it when they "come" to the [modern] cities. The humans didn't stand a chance, it's embarrassing! Anyway, this movie is quite dark... I was using filmmaker mode on TV for all the movies before that and was okay with them but for "Requiem", I had to change the settings. Not really bothered by it though but just want to make a note about it here.

Currently in the middle of "Predators" which I've watched several times in the past. Loved watching Adrien Brody here. It does feel a bit different re-watching this now after watching the earlier movies. Like, "Oooh.. I get that reference!" :P

Just finished "Alien: Resurrection"... This one is CRAZY! WTF! I think I saw this one before too because I somewhat knew one of the plot twists. It's weird seeing them injecting a bit humour into this one but I kind of love the vibes...? And the real villain here is the humans! We never learn!

I actually enjoyed "Alien 3" too. They didn't choose to be involved. That somewhat makes it scarier for me.

Knitting Thursday

Woke up at 6.10am-ish. Which is not a bad time to wake up in the morning... but definitely not the time I planned to wake up (-.-). Three hours late.

It did feel like I had a good night sleep though...

Made progress on my knitting project (the third, grey haramaki). I think I should do my knitting while watching Alien & Predator movies... I'm watching them according to their release order... currently I'm in the middle of "Predator 2" (also finished "Predator" today) and this one has been underwhelming so far. I mean it's not that bad but it's so weird to see them acting vigilante-ish in the city XD
