Alas, I am once again distracted... by stories.

Anyway... today is one of those rare days I actually stayed quite a while on Twitter (X? Is it still even called Twitter???). It doesn't feel like a familiar place anymore. Funnily, the thing that annoys me the most is I can't even look at a thread or a profile unless I'm logged in (so that means I have to open the other Chrome browser).

Good morning~ It is me who is lacking sleep again. Oh, it's fine, I'm fine. I spent the time I'm supposed to be sleeping reading. Probably going to finish "The Silent Dead" today (yay). Pretty sure I'd seen the TV special adaptation (if I remember correctly) before, judging from the death, and I don't remember much about the case. Yay for not having the best memory in the world.... I can read and/or watch stuff like it's the first time!

NICE

Okay, some nice things happened today.

First: I finally applied for membership [again] for my local library~ My mother had some business near her old workplace so we stopped by the library headquarters. I actually filled the form online but their card-making machine(?) is broken so I could only do the payment and stuff there. Decided to go to the Tanjung Aru branch to get the card made. Glad I asked the person there about their overdrive because they still have to register my card.

Already checked the books available there... I'm actually excited...? Interestingly, they have many of those popular ones in their collection. Also found some that I'm interested in. Their lending period is longer than 7 days (14 days and 21 days!).

Second: "Princess in the Mirror" !!!!! Woke up to Voltage's tweet about this game!

"Princess in the Mirror" will be releasing later this year, but we'll be releasing a sneak preview in Love 365 first!

The first update will be the Prologue on 2/8.

Unfortunately, I'm kind of semi-back to checking stuff on Twitter because of recent news... Most people are looking for an alternative to Twitter and I'm not sure if I want to go look for one...? I don't know... I don't really have any needs for a new SNS account. I did try checking out some new names (Mastodon - seems complicated / Hive [Social] - just read that it's offline as of now) but hmmmmm... One of the alternatives is Tumblr - got that one covered, at least lol - but I think I lean more to sticking to what I have now.

To be honest, I'm not really sure. Might even change my mind in the future. I... probably should go revive(?) my discord account, just in case.

Got my following list to under 100(!!)~ From 121 to 93! Unfollowed some inactive account but kept a few for sentimental reasons. Also unfollowed info dump and bot accounts. Kind of forgot how therapeutic this is... Did feel a bit sad unfollowing some of those that I followed for years, but it has to be done. I'm still seeing tweets from unfollowed accounts though in my timeline though.

Will do for Tumblr later...

It's Sunday, so it's time to pick a new book from the jar!

Three titles left! It doesn't feel mysterious anymore because I know what they are. One non-fiction, one Sci-Fi and one romance XD

Should I just pick out the reading order today? Or maybe I'll just do that next week? On second thought, I think I'm just going to read that non-fiction one now/later (as part of this)... so that means I'm doing double today lol

First title I got is... "The Left Hand of Darkness" by Ursula K. Le Guin! A book I purchased a year ago. ~~Been waiting for this lol~~

...that automatically makes "The Piano Man Project" by Kat French the book to read for next week!

It's the end of my "A book in a week" adventure~

I did say I'll use the jar with longer books but I've changed my mind. I'm going to make a new list. I might take some titles from that jar with longer books (or just combine them). Might also need to revise the time taken to finish them. I hope I can get this started in December.

Oooh maybe I'll post something like report or something for next week. Best if I can get the remaining three books from the jar finished by then. If not, maybe end of November. It will be like a post dedicated to the conclusion of the first season(arc? round? part?) of Pick-A-New-Book jar.

To this day, I'm still using Chrome Beta and it's still fast the way I'm used to in the past. Of course, I also use the normal one occasionally because most of my SNS accounts are logged in there.

(BTW, isn't it amusing how it shows how much I'm consuming media from Japan because I'm using the term SNS instead of SocMed??? I also pronounce PUBG as P-U-B-G instead of PUB-G because I'm used to hearing PockySweets say it that way on his gaming channel XD.. It's like that thing, "you're what you read" or something like that haha)

This is just me thinking out loud but I thought of the possibilities that Chrome is slow because I logged in to my SNS accounts there. I don't know why I feel that way but... as I'm trying to limit my access to Twitter & Tumblr, I don't really care at this point. I do have reddit and Pinterest logged in though (in Chrome Beta), but that doesn't affect the speed so far.

Speaking of Pinterest... I used to like seeing ONLY the stuff I'm following in my home feed, now it depends on what you search and look at which is ridiculous! I didn't think much of it before but once I opened some screenshot images on phone (you know, shots of posts from Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram etc), that's the only thing that appear there and I hate it so much. Hiding pins one by one is tiring. Searching for things I do want to see and click on it (so it looks like I "open" it, I guess) helped lessen the damage made from those screenshot images (in my case: Bookshelf, Japan spring, Ohno Satoshi... :P). Still had to manually hide the ones I don't want to see but it looks better now. Oh yeah, also unfollowed most of the people and boards I followed before because... there's no point anymore.

Twitter has that moments too. Kept showing and/or recommending me tweets I don't care about. I block all accounts that appear as promoted tweets. I find the Interests in the setting most annoying because I can't turn off all at once...

*sigh*

Youtube... this one, while not 100% perfect, I take great care at "controlling" what I get recommended with. That means I delete any unwanted videos in my watch history. Or I don't watch anything I don't want to be recommended with later. Watching it using incognito mode is an option too. Also diligently mark any videos/channels I'm not interested in with "Don't recommend channel". I prefer not to get into rabbit holes on Youtube.

I don't really have a point to make with this post lol.. this is just me ranting about online stuff I guess.

Started using [Rakuten] Viber yesterday. Apparently you can track Ninja Van's parcels through there. I got curious. Actually, could've used my line account but... the mobile phone number I associated with line isn't the one I use to accept deliveries. Thought it won't work (but it seems you still need to give your tracking number manually so it could work...? Might be messy in the future so I decided to just use Viber lol).

I don't know anyone that use line (unfortunately), so I just use it for the mobile games I play XD. Tsugaru and Shinonome have their own chatbots there ~~Shut up, just leave me alone :P~~

I rarely tweet anymore. Usually I would just tweet on my alter-ego account that I use for playing games.

Ooooh, I have an brilliant idea. I can make it one of my small goals! Yeah. Update Twitter daily for a month. Probably just going to be full of "Good Morning" and "Time to sleep" but still a good idea, right?

Honestly, I don't even know what to tweet about lol (I'm still living in isolation by choice). I can "cheat" by providing link to my updated blog (which actually sounds scary because I'm such a shy person :P) - who's going to even read them pfft.. Also, I can maybe tweet about books I'm reading. (Why is this getting scarier, I'm not going to meet anyone there face to face...... haaaaah)

The channel that I subscribed to watch anime officially has this in their line-up, but it will only be up for 3 hours after premiering. Fortunately, it's on Netflix too (so I might re-watch this on TV before the next episode)

Oh No It's Friday

Been using Tweetdeck more recently. I think it was when my house's internet wasn't working. It's surprisingly more low-speed-friendly than Twitter's homepage...? Took some time to get used to the UI. I especially like how I can see the timelines of multiple accounts in one place. Very useful if you manage many accounts. It also shows properly what's trending on Twitter.

Planned to finish "At Freddie's" today but got distracted by a Thai horror movie on TV... It was surprisingly nice although it felt more like rom-com with hints of horror lol. I kept expecting a bad ending (it usually ends that way) so I'm quite happy to be proved wrong (minor spoiler?) this time.

Seven & Seven

Ohhh this might be fun.

I posted twice on this day and month in the past.

First, in 2005. The first year I started blogging.

I think I got chicken pox....(like my brother)....

A post made a day before it was confirmed that I got the chicken pox (or chickenpox).

I got sick pretty late huh but I know people who got it during uni. Read before that the older you are, the worse the effects are to them. Well, at least that's done with.

It all started with my father's shingle that appeared on his stomach. Not going to elaborate much but that fact is stuck in my head because he refused to believe it's shingle that will cause chicken pox. That we will be fine and not get chicken pox. In the end, my siblings and I got sick on the same year.

~~I was right, dad!~~

Moving on. The other post is from 2010. A Saturday 9 post!

I feel obliged to answer the questions again.
(with some parts of my old answers)

1. How many of your friendships have lasted more than ten years? Which of your current friends do you feel will still be important to you ten years from now? A few. Very few.

In 2013, I posted once in this blog on this same date.

"The Tokyo Zodiac Murders", huh.. I want to read that again. Randomly found it at the uni library. I think that's one of the books that got me into Japanese mystery novels. I don't have much at this moment but I do keep a lookout for them on Bookxcess (because they're usually sooo expensive). Some books are available for under RM40 on Book Depository.

Speaking of spoilers... I usually just try avoiding them while keeping an open mind. If I see just a tiny bit of certain paragraphs or scenes I won't be too hard on myself. Like me and The Hunger Game books/movies. Since my siblings watch the movies, it's unavoidable that I saw (and remembered!) some of the scenes in the movies (except endings, I try to avoid them like plague). Fortunately, it doesn't really affect my recent reading experience.

I love that you can filter/mute words on Tumblr (tags & post contents) & Twitter (mute words/hashtags). Add #spoilers ~~and all its variants~~ to the list and you should be okay, most of the time. If people post stuff without text and tags, then the filter/mute feature won't help much. Which is why I'm very picky of who to follow.

Thursday. Almost wanted to do a Thursday 13 post but... you know, it's not easy to list out 13 items. Believe me, just try it yourself. I might get to 10 but to complete a 13..? Not going to happen always. But I love that blog meme anyway and I try to do it whenever I can find 13 things to list (≧∀≦)

Oooh... I can do 13 old tweets kind of thing though? Like how can I show how self-absorbed I am if not that ( *´艸`)? I actually wanted to do something like a Twitter archive thing before but thought it's too troublesome. Doing this selection thing seems easier. Just like digging through my Tumblr posts.

Also have some ideas (in addition to the ones mentioned in this) what to blog in the future. Things like following tutorials by art Youtube channel? Although it will just be me blogging about the end result..? I mean you won't be seeing the process, I guess...

Anyway, last night I uninstalled the Tumblr apps on my phones. I don't know why I get so irritated by the ads that came on my dashboard lately. Used to not care before but recently it has been showing some weird sh*t that I prefer not to mention here. When I click the "i" thing, there's a link to manage the setting... on Facebook. WHAT? I don't have a Facebook account.

I have my suspicions. One of the phone I have is a hand-me-down Oppo F9 (my father's). Unfortunately, I didn't do a factory reset when I received it because I was too excited (and I'm too lazy to backup the files). Even though I already uninstalled the Facebook app, I guess there's still that ad-related data cache existing deep inside the phone...? So instead of mobile games ads and stuff I just searched on Lazada or Shopee, I got those sh*tty ads.. because of my father's Facebook ad data thingy.. I think? Just an unproven idea because I have no way of knowing. Also, resetting my Advertising ID doesn't help.

I might do the factory reset later. Just wanted to include it in my blog as a reminder for my future self.

Edit after a couple hours later:

I was curious so I did some googling and found this. Borrowed and checked my father's phone (with permission!).. Look what I found.

The four visible apps are mobile apps I'M USING ("was" in Tumblr's case; The other three are Voltage otome games). WTF. Cleared the history and turned off the option for "Future Off-Facebook Activity". I believe this is best for my ~~Boomer~~ father.

Interestingly, the 3 game apps aren't installed in the hand-me-down phone. So it's acting like a virus. From the installed mobile Tumblr app... to the other apps I have installed in another phone. That's so bizarre! Probably have something to do with the ads I viewed in the games voluntarily but these are two different phones!

Something Something

I totally forgot to post in June!

Oh well, there aren't much to talk about anyway.

Some updates:

Finally received the book I purchased via Bookurve at the end of February last month. My Dijun crush has died down now although it might rekindle again since apparently "Eternal Love of Dream" is going to be shown on 8TV this week. In June, my mother suddenly joined me in watching "Love and Destiny" and after it ended I really wanted her to see Feng Jiu & Dijun again.
Tried out Google's video call services(?) with my bestfriend. Lol.. honestly I won't have much opportunity to use them (except with my family) so I took advantage of that and tried all. I used a desktop computer and my phone as the "camera". I'm fond of Meet (for now)... Hangouts' should be okay but I don't really like to hear my voice echoing after I say something (I already muted anything like when I use Meet). Duo was okay too but I can't use it on the computer (no camera).
One of my favourite seiyuu (Konishi Katsuyuki!) opened his own Youtube channel where he streams his gameplay. I got super excited when I saw him playing "Death Stranding" although I just realised the existence of his channel a month later. He was super low-key about it! I happened to see his tweet about going live so that's how I knew. If I remember correctly, in one of his DS playthrough, he was asked if he's finally becoming a youtuber [as in making it a career] and he said he didn't think of it that far. He just wants to play video games together with his audience.

While he plays, he talks about a lot of things so watching him is kinda relaxing haha... He's quite attentive too [I'm guessing this is because of the nature of his work?] - he often sees the chats left when he's livestreaming and he will make some comments on it.

Some thoughts:

Art.. The urge is back! And since I talked a bit about it with my bestfriend.. I feel like painting something recently.
Been thinking about adding more photos in this blog. That would make it easy to post something in the future.
Also, recently I've thought of compiling my old tweets here [for my own benefit] lol.. so hard to navigate to the oldest (although it's easy to make a twitter search) now. The idea came when I checked my Twitter archive and found interesting tweets from the past. It was fun to see them again.

Beyond My Twitter

I did this before in a post from 2010.

Not really surprised that my recent tweets have a depressed tone to it. I'm pretty sure most of my tweets when I was still working were me being salty all the time.

A few days ago, this happened:

...and well the next day I saw #SpotifyUnwrapped trending which got me curious. I didn't use much Spotify this year but what I got for mine was pretty cool. This was my top played song so can you imagine how majestic my Spotify Wrapped played through until the end?

Bwahahaha. It's like I got outed as a Jay Chou fan. I was pretty meh (do love some of his songs) about him in secondary school because I tend to avoid popular things at that time. But last year, I suddenly got into listening his songs so this might be why he's my "Artist of the Decade" on Spotify. I just started using Spotify last year though.

I played his songs mostly at work. It helped me went through bad days at work. I was extremely fond of his non-ballad, weird/unique songs which I found suited my [dark] mood during work.

What would it be, I wonder?

4. What is one thing that makes you cry?

Current life.

5. What do you love to do on the weekend?

Currently, shopping! *Ah, my pocket money!!!* Though I usually prefer to just stay at home and watch something on my laptop. Or sleep because I lost so much sleep during weekdays.

6. Do you and your family get along?

Yes. Sure we had fights from time to time (and made up after that anyway), but I always thought that's the proof that we get along well.

It happened when I was in Form 6. We, the upper Form 6 students, managed the orientation week for our juniors. It was time for my Biology teacher to talk about his subject to the juniors. My friend and I happened to stay in the same room (usually most of us loitered there during that week) and the Biology teacher suddenly asked us to leave the room. Awkwardly, we did and later on, a friend from other class (humanities stream) told us that he talked about my class. He said we were arrogant students. (I even blogged about this before!)

I usually use ~~TweetPsych~~... but today I found a new site. ~~Analyze Words~~. Haha... I love these kind of things. They might not represent accurately but it's still something.

I got this.

I'm a bit concerned seeing that "worried" as my 'emotional style'. I don't mind "depressed" though (what I really want is "upbeat" but that has the lowest count - not like me, really).

There's also a site that analyzes your sleeping time. http://www.sleepingtime.org.
