~ Object-oriented Programming [7th/Final Day - May 3rd, 2010]
Final paper!

Left the exam hall with good feelings. Answered at least half of the questions.

Haha.

Let me embrace this freedom even if it's temporary.

First thing I want to do after that is get some sleep...

Coffee Break

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | NaBloPoMo | Personal Thoughts | University | University: Year 1

Sigh. Another exam paper tomorrow... & I don't feel like studying("cramming") anymore.

UPU results are out and my sister's... Not good. After piano class today, my parents had started talking about Form 6 for her. Curtin's foundation is just too.. pricey. Kinda hard to imagine my sister being in Form 6 though.

I love my Form 6 years. They seem to make up for what I'd missed in Form 4 & 5 (my black years)... F6 : happy moments. Not-so-happy moments. I remember some.. forgotten some already. But one thing that's keep getting back to me (even now) - my efforts. My almost non-existent efforts.

After I received my SPM result, I rejected every offer I got because I wanted to be in F6 so badly. So, so, so badly. Then I was happy when I finally got into a school that accepted my SPM result.... But in the end, my STPM results (plural, b'cos I took twice).. were also SO bad. What a shame.

Anyway. Have you ever heard about "Deep Procrastination"? I just read about this article today and I realize it's that kind of procrastination that I had in Form 6... and still have now. Bleh. Not that labeling the problem helps me to solve it. But that's the first important step I guess. This part rang true for me :
A student suffering from deep procrastination will delay important work to an excessive degree. He won’t start studying until late the night before or will delay paper writing until the sun is about the rise. After a while, he might begin to chronically miss deadlines, and find himself constantly negotiating with professors about extensions. (Source : Study Hacks)

I realized how serious this was when I was doing Ethics assignment last semester. And also for this semester (2nd), almost for all assignments... particularly Language and Communication's. I was aware of the datelines and all, but I couldn't make myself do anything to complete those assignments. Sometimes it seems like I don't care about them at all.

...
Break's over. Must find more info on this deep procrastination issue...

Exam S2 : 2nd Week

Posted in: 1st post | 2010 posts | Courses | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Exam Sem2 | Exams and Tests | NaBloPoMo | University | University: Year 1

~ Ethnic Relations [3rd Day - Apr 28th, 2010]
I love knowing about history. Any kind of histories. But I do not like to study for it. I just love knowing.

Though, I must say... I think this subject is very interesting (more interesting than TITAS)... I even managed to read half the text book (which is good already if you're me) for the exam. It was an MCQ exam. The part about politics... I relied on my sometimes-no-good memory. I couldn't make myself read the other half. Haha...

~ French Language [4th Day - Apr 29th, 2010]
This exam reminded me of English language exams in primary school. Huh. If only I had cared to read more... I would have remembered more things.

It wasn't really that difficult.

~ Data Structure (Introduction) [4th Day - Apr 29th, 2010]
Same as the French exam.

Surprisingly easy. And yet... I couldn't answer 3 main questions.

I thought I was the only one who.. well... ready to "let go" of this. I thought everyone else studied like crazy. But I was wrong. One coursemate already said about "Let us all take this course together again".

Hmmm. On second thought.. I think he's just bluffing.

~ Language and Communication [5th Day - Apr 30th, 2010]
Interesting course, difficult MCQ exam questions.

I don't know why I think the final exam for this course doesn't matter much to the lecturer. The lecturer didn't seem care about notes & text books. It looks like the presentation is more important. Though... I can't be so sure about that.

Oh, well. What's done is done.

~ Mathematics II [1st Day - Apr 21st, 2010]
(This is a "sequel" course to Mathematics I. Well, obviously.)

Didn't study enough.

So... yeah.

I am ready to meet you again, Maths 2.

After I returned home, what bothered me wasn't how badly I answered the paper... but a realization that hit me during the exam. A blast from the past. Find it. Or better - don't find it.

~ Statistical Package Programming [2nd Day - Apr 23rd, 2010]
Okay... wasn't really smooth-sailing, but at least I managed to answer all questions.. There were several incomplete answers though.

A Blast From the Past.

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Me. | No Mood | Personal Thoughts | University: Year 1

Feeling much like I was in Form 4/5 since yesterday.

Alone on this road to nowhere. No one to tell me what to do. No one to tell me which way to go.

Oh.. right. Why do they even want to care? Why do they even need to care?

The last time I felt this way was in 2005 and early 2006. Now they are coming back to haunt me.

Just last night, I cried to Switchfoot's "Twenty-Four" song to sleep. You know, those out-of-blue kind of tears... It's not even because of how I did my exam yesterday. Just that... I suddenly realised that it's not completely over. Those feelings that I desperately want to forget and conceal with other so-called positive things still exist. They didn't appear (during f6) because I made sure of myself to not go down the road again, avoiding things that could trigger those emotions, including [maybe], putting efforts in studying. I don't know. This past could have been holding me back now.

All those good things could merely have been illusions. Or beautiful distractions. Or really just temporary, meaningless things.

Come and go...
So... nothing.

I can't believe that this is happening again.

*Nags are the last thing I need right now. Shutting myself off.*

Loving April~

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Life | Nonsense | Personal Thoughts | University | University: Year 1

Can you smell that freedom in the air?

No more assignments, no more classes... just those upcoming exam papers left.

I can't wait for Semester 2 to end!

March was a stressful month. March 2010 = Music theory exam + Mid-term exams + Assignments due dates + Group presentations. Sigh. There were happy moments or days but not much.

As March packed his bags to leave & April waited at the door, I thought April will be as nasty as March because they looked the same. I was proven wrong. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, something anti-climax or unexpected happens. Like our SPSS application test that was postponed again last week. Like the French oral test I was supposed to take last Monday but I couldn't because I was sick. There are more... but I can't recall anymore now. The point is, these unexpected events keep happening & they make me smile every time I realise they are happening.

Let's hope that they will keep on happening during exam weeks.
*With luck, I might be utterly diverted ("amused", not "distracted").*

[So far...] I love you, April.

Bad Feelings...

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Life | No Mood | University | University: Year 1

February wasn't as friendly as I thought it would be, and I had a bad start with March.

The only best news I heard so far this month is my younger sister's return. My father just told me this morning that she'll be back next Tuesday! I'm happy...

... but added with current happenings regarding assignments, presentations & mid-term exams - I can't help feeling overwhelmed and helpless. It seems like there's no change in my attitude compared to last semester's. I don't feel worse than before though because I don't have much expectations for this semester. I confess... I'm not bothered by my mid-term exams at all.. *which is a really pathetic reaction to have at this moment.* I'm more worried about my group assignments. I'm afraid that I'm not doing my part good enough. What makes it worse : I'm pretty selfish with my time and space. For me, every start of the week is a struggle because I seem to fall into a zombie-ish mode where I can't think clearly & focus on studying because of exhaustion.

*sigh*

I have bad feelings about next week. I can't bear picturing it without crying scenes all-night hours working on those assignments. But...if I can survive pull this off, I don't have to think about them anymore! Motivated enough already?

No.

Weird Week.

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Life | Me. | Random-ness | University | University: Year 1

Totally O/T: I just saw Mamma Mia movie last Sunday, & I was surprised by Colin Firth's voice! Not bad for someone who isn't a singer by career. My image of him in mind is still Mr Darcy though.. & seeing 'Mr Darcy' sing felt like a fairytale. I love seeing actors I like sing.
---

I had a really weird week.

Okay. The week hasn't end yet but now I tend to see my class days as weekdays while class-free days as weekends (including Thursday =P).

Monday, 8am-4pm. Two classes with a 'class' gap ("Language and Communication"'s lectures ended early this semester!) between those two classes.
Tuesday, day started late because the lecturer for morning's class was away, 11am-4pm. Plus another 6pm-8pm session at my music school. They always have these music theory trial exams before the real exam day which I have to attend to get good marks (I'm okay with this).
Wednesday, almost like Tuesday. First lab class was cancelled this week. Second lab class started at 10am (+ replacement class for last 2 weeks) - 1.5 hour. Then another lab class at 4pm. French class (replacement class for today's holiday) at 5.30-8.30pm.

Crazy hours. Added with these facts, it gets crazier : I rarely eat at campus (so I always miss lunch BUT I drink a lot, okay. I have to keep myself hydrated) & I don't take the university bus. I always walk. It's very therapeutic to me (although my legs think otherwise =P).

Anyway... I'm not blogging about that today. It's just that I realised how I've gotten a bit weird (or weirder, if you prefer that) since mid-semester break ended. It happened in those 3 days I just described.

It's like I've become happier... which is hard to believe because I have so many assignments/projects to be done, last minute-ly again. So the only plausible explanation would be I've totally lost my sanity it. Instead of slowing down, I'm taking the "shutting off" approach to deal with the stress. Yikes.

I think I've shut off a part of my senses. I feel like talking all the time. I dared to answer my lecturer's question, got it wrong & I felt okay. I mean, I didn't feel embarrassed or something like that. I don't even care if I was right or not before answering, I just feel like speaking out whatever's in my mind at that moment. Another thing. I had three surprise quizzes this week, & of course I didn't study or revise anything at all, but I could still smile after I handed in my incomplete answer sheets. I was thinking "Why bother if I couldn't answer? Just focus on what I can answer... but don't repeat the same mistake in the future. Must study."...

Then... I [could] find joy in every little thing I see around me. Hmmm. I can't believe I just said that. As much as I find that's too melodramatic... it's true! I didn't know why everything seemed funny during those three days. I laughed or smiled for no reason. I also smiled to random people including strangers. I'm pretty sure I'd shut off the "If x happens, do y" part in my brain.

I stopped caring for a while what others think or say. I just want to do what I think is right.

I can actually love being this way.
:)

Saturday 9 [Feb 20th ed.]

Posted in: 2010 posts | Blog Meme | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Me. | University: Year 1

Blog meme from here.

Saturday 9: Don't Stand So Close to Me.
---
Answered with current state of mind...
---

1. Who would you like not to stand so close to you?
People I find annoying. Smokers. Perverts. Criminals.

2. Which of the following aspects of your life would you think rates the highest: mind, body or spirit?
Mind. I admire how my mind works. I'm still in the process of understanding how it works though...

3. What is your favorite movie line?
4. What is your favorite movie title?
Sorry, I'm skipping these two questions. I have several favourites but I keep changing my favourites so it doesn't mean much anymore... I do like watching movies but I don't watch currently showing movies because I stay away from cinemas as far as I can. My source for movies is either TV or DVD/VCDs. Maybe I'll just share this random me-fact : The first movie I ever watched at the cinema was "Jurassic Park". I remember there's a Coca-Cola (or was it Pepsi?) ad showed before the movie started and I was begging my parents to bring me home (thought it didn't matter if returning home means I have to spend time with granny)... but we stayed on anyway. Which might be the reason I'm interested in dinosaurs...

5. What is something that has happened to you that you would consider a miracle?
Nothing miraculous happened to me lately.

6. What do you try to stay away from?
Book stores!!! Seriously. I can end up buying many kinds of books because of my random interests in anything. Fiction books. Astronomy. Paleontology (Dinosaurs!). Hobbies. History. Music. Jonas Brothers. Lol. It's crazy.

Anyway... it's very important to do this now because I'm saving my money for a Satio.

7. What is it too late for?
It's too late to want to pursue a career in Medicine or Music. Sigh. I know it's still possible but there seem to be something that's stopping me. Maybe my real interests aren't really in those areas. Or maybe... it's because I'll be more satisfied to know/learn any knowledge in this world without having to practise (too much pressure). Knowledge is free. You just have to be smart enough to find it yourself.

8. Give someone credit for something and name it if you can.
Erm... This "Dear Joe" pic Joe tweeted which was created by i.love.joe on Flickr who was inspired by "Dear John" movie poster...

9. Would you rather be famous now & forgotten after you die or forgotten now & famous after you die, forever? And why?
I would rather be famous now & forgotten after I die. Haha. Simple. I need to know that I'm famous. I don't care anymore after I die.

I don't believe in the fact that I'll be completely forgotten after I die... there must be at least one person who will know/remember. I'll make sure of it.

Recently purchased books…

Posted in: 2010 posts | Books | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Diana Wynne Jones | Family | Learning French Language | Me. | Shopping Bag | University: Year 1

I love books. But I’m not necessarily a bookworm. I really, really love to keep books. I still have many un-read books in my bookshelf.

---

Now I have 3 French dictionaries. Yes. I’m lexicon crazy. I’m not even sure if I’m going to use them much in the future. But I’m 75% sure I’ll use them. *self-denial*

The middle (dark blue one) is my first French dictionary bought at City Mall’s Popular Bookstore. I like the size… Not too big & not too small. Pronunciation guide is included unlike the light blue one’s (Oxford Learner’s). DSC00330That one was bought at Signature (or Eaton’s? ‘cos the stationary section is called that).

What I like about the Oxford Learner’s dictionary : Le (masculine) or La (feminine) is added straight away in front of every words. I just realised the importance of this in French dictionaries during class where the lecturer kept asking us if this or that thing is masculine or feminine. *sigh* It seems hard to guess if the thing is ‘male’ or ‘female’. I have to associate the things with masculine/feminine characteristics to help me remember which one to use. The other dictionary is a visual dictionary from Suria Sabah’s Times Bookstore. That’s self-explanatory, I guess. ;P

DSC00325

These are from the visual dictionary. Apparently some countries use le, some use la… The other pic… I was reminded of Jacques Clouseau (Pink Panther)’s “hamburger” blunders. Haha...

DSC00331 DSC00333

DSC00327 DSC00324

“What Your Teacher Didn’t Tell You (Vol. 1)”… That was a randomly-picked book. Like Eragon (I haven’t even read Eragon yet!). How can you resist a book with that title? It’s thought-provoking! What my teacher didn’t tell me? What should I know that ‘they’ don’t want ‘us’ to know? (The author, Farish A. Noor, is described as “Malaysia’s hippest intellectual” at the back cover.)

Actually, it looks like a history-ish book to me… but oh well. I’ll risk that. It might turn out good.

The other colourful-covered book is Diana Wynne Jones’ latest book, “Enchanted Glass”! I can’t find that book in Sabah, you know… I asked my mum to buy it for me (as gift! Haha..) when she went to KL for meetings (again) few days ago. It’s still wrapped in plastic… don’t feel like opening it yet. The first thing I thought of as I read the synopsis at the back is “House of Many Ways” (“Howl’s Moving Castle” 2nd sequel). Hmmm. Anyway… I’m saving this for a bad day. Yeah. You read it right. Bad day. A good book is the perfect pick-me-up on bad days.

Name.

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Family | Me. | University: Year 1

Nah. I would never never never ever put my full name here. As tempting as it is, I just couldn't bring myself to do that. The burden to not be able to blog my thoughts the way I like is too much. When people I know can easily google my name and find that I have been blogging (or had blogged) about them it could be awkward when I meet them again. It's okay if I'm close friends with this person but if he/she's someone I'm not too close to... Ha!

... erm... Actually.. I didn't think of it this far so I don't know what will happen. (But surely it would start with embarrassment!).. I guess I'm not ready for that yet.

The name I put on Twitter is close enough though...

I have a very unique name. So I'm happy to have it all by myself. It's long but I'm proud of it. It surprised me when I got some search results on the last part of my name. Apparently, there's also someone named V-- in Indonesia! So much for a unique name, huh...

Anyway... This post is about the origin of my name, so let's get back to business.

Before I was born, my parents thought I'm going to be a boy so they wanted to name me "Mats Wilander" (Haha.. To my friends that know my full name : It [kind of] has the same rhyme, isn't?) after the famous Tennis player in the 80s. But I arrived as a girl.. Haha. It's amazing how my parents get to think of my 'girl' name in short time notice. When I was in primary school, I always separated my name Ruth V-- when I wrote my name. I realised that I had it all wrong when I started Secondary school (in Form 1). Lol.

Oh yeah. Sometimes people made fun of my name because it rhymes with Belanda (malay for Dutch). It used to bug me in Primary school... hehe. But that was over 10 years ago.

Now I'm just proud of my name.

There's a 'right' way to pronounce it (by my standards of course, duh) so I always take notice of people who pronounces my name accurately. At times, I think my long and unusual name made people easily remember my name. *smiles sheepishly* My French language lecturer is one of those who pronounce it accurately, with a bit French flavour to it! She even said it sounded like a Roman or Dutch(or was it Italian?) name. Made me smile.

:)

Feb 15th at random

Posted in: 2010 posts | at random | Books | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Family | University: Year 1

My sister returned home last Thursday... but tomorrow her holidays will end - she'll be back in Semenyih's PLKN camp in the morning.

Wow... Time travels so fast these days. I'm not feeling sad, just empty. It's the same good, old feeling again - loss of a familiar thing around you. *sigh*

===

Last Saturday, I went to Suria Sabah's Times bookstore again... and bought two expensive books again. Arggghhh. Please keep me away from bookstores in the future!!!! Books, books and books again! Impulsive purchase! Grghghg. The temptation is so hard to resist!

Oh, yeah. I learnt something too that day.
I must remember to throw away the 1-cent coins in my wallet.
(Apparently I didn't read the "whole" article back then in 2008. Duh.)
Was laughed at by the cashier and my own father (seriously, dad!). I hate being the one outside "the know".

===

Have you heard about the new buzz, Google Buzz?

I had it turned off in my Gmail but I know it's powerful. I have no idea how they know how to find the people "suggested" for me to follow. They seemed to be based on my interests... maybe even from the feeds I've been subscribing on Google Reader. I mean... they suggested me to follow Selena Gomez's buzz. The only thing that's related to Miss Gomez in my GReader is her Twitter's rss. Does that mean the person suggested on Buzz is her real gmail address? Don't you think that's scary? The fact that Google knows who you are and is exposing you to strangers? If my assumptions is true, I hope those celebrities will take notice and manage their Google Buzz statuses properly.

Anyway... I haven't started using the new feature yet actually but it sounds cool & fun to be among those early users. It even looked like something I'll use more often than Google Wave (which I think is more suitable for group meetings and other serious, business-ish things)... it might appeal more to young users (teens, young adults). I like taking random photos of things so it could be a perfect place I can post my photos. But wait... wasn't that the reason I joined Tumblr in the first place? (or Flickr for that matter)

Hmmm... Buzzing, huh? I will have to start by experimenting first (like I did with Twitter) ... & only after I understand how to manage its privacy settings.

===

My latest favourite Chrome extension is this. Google Dictionary!

I always use answers.com to look up for words when I'm typing my blog posts or reading online. But with this extension, I just have to double-click that word and the meaning will pop-out.

In short, it saves time and energy.

Blog meme from here.

Saturday 9: It's a Beautiful Morning

1. Are you a morning person?
I used to think that I'm a morning person, I like waking up early etc. But nowadays... I couldn't wake up early anymore. When I'm woken up abruptly in the morning I get cranky and moody. So yeah. I'm not a morning person. (This post is made in the middle of the night.)

2. Tell us of a news story that truly shocked you.
Shotgun marriages. I don't wish to elaborate more.

3. What was your very first job?
Ermm... what job?

4. What characteristics do you despise?
Stupidity. That's not a characteristic, is it?

5. To where would you retire?
Greece.

6. Are you named after anyone?
Oh, yeah. My name is VERY, VERY, VERY loosely based on Mats Wilander. (A post on this : coming soon.)

7. How do you release anger?
Talk, complain, whine etc about everything but the thing I'm really angry about. Isolation. Loud music.

8. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I think I use sarcasm too to release anger. I'm kind of more sarcastic when I want to make someone (who made me angry first) mad.

9. What is your least favorite thing about yourself?
I don't accept wrongs, failures & criticisms against me easily. Yeah, sure I listen & read them but those what-I-did-wrong thoughts will dwell in my mind for a long time - hard to brush off - and I will find a way to improve or prove that they are wrong.

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | NaBloPoMo | University: Year 1

*That title is valid!*

Today’s the end of NaBloPoMo for January 2010!

Thank you everyone! Thank you for taking some time reading some of my blog posts (or all? haha) this month…

I did it again – posted (including this post) everyday for this month. Sigh. I admit, it was hard (I manage time poorly) but I made it through though erm..I posted mostly not-so-readworthy posts. Hehe.

Hopefully February will be a better month than January. January was nice but not so great. My main goal for February is to master the basic of C++ Programming. I already have good lecturers teaching us so there’s no reason I can’t. Will blog more February goals later.

Oh yeah. Another thing… February is the birth month of my blog (including the old one). My first post was on February 5th, 2005. So I’ve been a blogger for 5 years! Should I celebrate this or what?

Another not-so-productive Saturday… haha. But I did found another band with great songs (nice lyrics too!) to listen to. I first heard their song “Stand Up” in “Sydney White", a movie I just saw last night (movie package = major distraction). Mêlée.

Okay… Back to Saturday Six Questions.

1. What’s the one thing that really annoys you?
People smoking in public (imagine this : Coffee shop. You're just about to eat your breakfast. This someone sitting near you light up his cigar and chat boisterously with his fellow smokers friends) ... and smoking neighbours. In short, smokers that smoke near me. I don't give a damn if they die or live on because of that habit..just don't do that in my sight when my nose is still functioning well.

A smoking lecturer (fortunately he doesn't smoke during class, we have frequent 5-min breaks though..) once asked us if we (his students) prefer the smell of flatulence to cigar smoke. He seemed sure that smoke was everyone's answer. I didn't tell him that my answer is the other one.

2. If it was the end of the world what be the last thing you would try to do?
I actually never thought about this before. *I'll pass.*

3. If you had the choice of designing a mobile phone what one feature would you add to it?
Oh! There's this one feature my General Studies teacher, Mr Khairy, told us which I think is pretty cool. A mobile phone that can detect smell and re-create the same smell to the other person on the phone. I actually thought this is possible.. haha. The phone will recognise the smell first.. then using it's information (chemical formula) from it’s database the phone will recreate the same smell for the other party to, well, smell. But the mobile phone would be loaded with chemicals though...

4. Diamonds or pearls?
I like pearls. White and black. Diamonds? I think I'll be too afraid to wear something so expensive.

5. Silver or gold?
Silver. I like silverish colours. Silver, white gold & platinum...

6. Are you at home or work?
Home!

One reason I could't grasp the concepts of science in Form 4 and Form 5 : everything's in Malay. Not that learning them in English (form 6) helped much with my grades anyway... but the terms sound more "right" in English. I thought all that is over after Form 5... Imagine my astonishment when I saw my Maths' course lecture notes for the first time in Malay, again.

Why, oh, why this must happen again? I don't mind if the lecture is in Malay... but not the lecture notes too! Vectors, Sequence and Series... all difficult chapters!

#2
Why do my lab classes have to have odd hours??? Why can't they all be in the morning? Why must there be two lab classes lined up conveniently in the morning and then another one at 5pm on the same day?

#3
Why is it that every time I'm motivated and excited to do something (productive), I feel tired and want to go to sleep early without reviewing back what was lectured that day? And when I'm fully-rested, I do the opposite thing! Where are my priorities? Why can't I be disciplined like Chiaki?

*Tantrums. All tantrums.*

Lazy Lazy Land.

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | NaBloPoMo | University: Year 1

Title inspired by Demi Lovato's "La La Land". Listen?
---

Yet another reminder 'made' for me to not laze around.

Laziness is not an addiction. It's a bad habit. You do it without realising you're doing it. It's really terrible. I could stare into nothing, thinking that I'm thinking of something but actually I'm not thinking something productive and useful. Minutes went by just like that. Once, I took like 30 minutes to 1 hour to draft my "new" timetable. Then I took over an hour to create a beautiful timetable to stick on my room wall. After that's done, I went straight to bed. And days after that I forgot all about my "new" timetable.

I'm so bad at spending quality time in my life.

Even if you take my "blogging" and "tweeting" activities away, I would remain the same. It all got worst since I was in Form 4 (I wasn't blogging and tweeting back then!). I suspect this is my response to stress when I'm loaded with lots of homework & assignments. I slow down. Huh. That's really not helpful at all.

As much as I hate myself when I'm being lazy, it's a bad habit that's [still] hard to throw away... yet.

Yet.

Will I make it?

If I declare war against procrastination and laziness, will I be able to change?

Can I win this war?

The Conversation.

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | NaBloPoMo | University | University: Year 1

Yesterday, a conversation about me went on without me participating in it.

Girls : Wei... Don't kacau (disturb) her lah..
Boy (the same person I tweeted about before) : *Kept disturbing her playingfully* I always kacau her last semester. Eh. Now you sit in front again, huh.. /To 'girls'/ I used to kacau her when she sat in front then suddenly [one day] she sat at the back...

Yes, I am her.

The conversation made me realised two things.
(1) I think my other coursemates/sister coursemates see me as a time bomb, don't-mess-with-her kind of person. Or eccentric, (haha) reserved and moody. Doesn't worry me that much if that's what they're really thinking.
(2) I did use to sit in the front during classes at the beginning of Semester 1 but after the ex-ethics group issues (yeah. I'm tired of bringing this up again too...) I stopped doing that. “You don’t like me so let’s not be hypocrites and stay away from each other.”

But now, for Semester 2, I try to grab the front seats as early as possible. Students at the back are always noisy. It's a bad place to sit if you're planning on listening to the lecture (and of course, it's the best place to sit if you don't care about the lectures at all... haha).

Which isn't really a problem nowadays.
Almost everyone's sitting as far as they could from the lecturer.

Hmm... Dunno where I read this but they say it's a good thing to have your lecturer recognizes your face. :)

You will always find me sitting in the front.

Except when I haven't done my Maths Tutorial homework.
Like last week's Thursday. (& maybe tomorrow too.)

Headache, please go away...

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | NaBloPoMo | University | University: Year 1

"Ethnic Relations" presentation started today. So far, only five groups had presented their topic. Bleh. They weren't that good (I think the lecturer thought the same too but he didn't say anything harsh). Some didn't prepare... got their facts wrong, long-winded opening/ending, too semi-formal (some wore slippers!) and wasn't serious (jokes here and there). Hopefully my group won't do those mistakes.

Also... Finally met the lecturer for "Data Structure" today. So now I have classes 8am-4pm for two consecutive days. It's only the beginning of the week but I feel beaten already. The weather was extraordinarily hot since yesterday which I suspect is [still] causing me headache right now... I slept with headache. I woke up with headache. Major Owww. Hard to think clearly with headache...

Anyway. "Data Structure" class seems like another potential favourite. Haha. It's closely-related to the other potential favourite course ("Object-Oriented Programming"), so no surprise there.

Introvert or Extrovert?

Posted in: 2010 posts | blog images | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | NaBloPoMo | online quiz | Personal Thoughts | University: Year 1

A friend tweeted about this issue few hours ago.

I always thought I'm an introvert but from these online tests (which might not reflect the real thing anyway) I'd taken... I don't know what to think. But it seems possible for conversions to happen. Or maybe I'm both?

NerdTests.com's "The Introvert-Extrovert Test"

---
Blogthings' "Are You An Extrovert or An Introvert?"

You Are 20% Extrovert, 80% Introvert

You are quite reserved

You aren't afraid of social situations...

But you very much prefer to go it alone

And why not? You're your own best friend!

OkCupid.com's "The Introvert/Extrovert Test"

Got this :
Introvert Extrovert
You're a quiet person, but not too quiet. You like your own company at times, but don't mind the company of others. Ideally, a few people is better than a lot in most situations. You'd be well suited to living in a small town and can easily handle living on your own. You know how to have a good time, but also know how to enjoy a good book. While a night on the town can be enjoyed, you don't like to go out all the time. One can get too much of a good thing. You can be irritated by extroverts sometimes. Especially if they talk a lot about non-consequential things or other people. You can sometimes be misunderstood for being grumpy and some extroverts find you a little aloof. You're probably relatively happy in who you are although something can always be improved upon.

(They have other possible results 'extrovert', 'quietly extroverted', and 'very introverted'.)

---
Funtestiq's "Introvert or Extrovert?"

I think this one had some good questions but there's not much explanation on the result.
Your score on this Introvert/Extrovert test is 18,
which means that you are more on the Introvert side.

---

Differences between Introvert & Extrovert...

From NerdTests.com
Extroverts:
-have motives and actions that are directed outward.
-are more prone to action than contemplation.
-are typically very friendly to unknown people.
-feel empowered in social situations.

Introverts:
-have motives and actions that are directed inward.
-tend to be preoccupied with their own thoughts and feelings.
-minimize their contact with other people.

From Socionics.com :
Extroverts
-are interested in what is happening around them
-are open and often talkative
-compare their own opinions with the opinions of others
-like action and initiative
-easily make new friends or adapt to a new group
-say what they think
-are interested in new people
-easily break unwanted relations

Introverts
-are interested in their own thoughts and feelings
-need to have own territory
-often appear reserved, quiet and thoughtful
-usually do not have many friends
-have difficulties in making new contacts
-like concentration and quiet
-do not like unexpected visits and therefore do not make them
-work well alone

Hmmm.
