On Demand Delivery

Posted in: 2023 posts | blog images | Bookmark Collection | Online Shopping Bag | Photo Stories

Bookmark from yesterday's. The other five didn't have one so I expected the same from the last one... but I guess I got one anyway...?

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Received a text message about a DHL delivery in the future. Also got an e-mail, apparently it's called "On Demand Delivery". I find it kind of... interesting? I've never been notified like that before. I guess because it requires signature? DHL ones (shipping fees) are pretty expensive but I love their service here.

A Different Kind of White

Posted in: 2021 posts | blog images | On This Day | Photo Stories

On this day, I posted twice in the past.

One post was in 2009, and it's about my trip to Tawau by car. That post looks kind of messy now because I used Windows Live Writer at that time. It's bound to happen, I guess... with some new updates made by Blogger many years later. I could tidy it up at least to make it more readable...

Nothing much to say on that post. Surely the roads are different now... Oh but I did go to Tawau again twice after that. By plane, if I remember correctly. One time was for my aunt's funeral. The other was for another cousin's wedding. My father rented a car (during the wedding one) and we got around Tawau using Waze. That was quite the experience, really. Navigating the road using a map isn't that easy. The voice helps but you still have to look ahead the map beforehand to make sure you don't miss any turns and U-turns.

The other post was from 2019 (10 years later! lol). It's about blog stuff.
I have a draft post created in Dec 29th, 2012 about my last class of the semester.
Oh, this post. It's already published, in case you're wondering XD

Not much progress on my labels at this moment.
OMG.. I haven't made any progress on that too, two years later haha

I also started embedding tumblr posts (it's convenient nowadays because Tumblr got it ready)... I feel like whatever I posted or reblogged on Tumblr gets buried down in my Tumblr so embedding some of the memorable ones here might bring light to them again.
I still use that feature occasionally but since there are some legal issues related to that months ago (although it's on a different platform), I'm trying to use less of it. Don't want any trouble in the future.

Probably going to edit my "About Me" section to something that reflects the current me.
Yikes. Haven't edited this one since then. Don't really want to think about that at this moment.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

I found this old diary of mine again when I cleaned my room yesterday.

Yes, I'm going with the term diary... because that's how I see it from the beginning (I started with an AIA diary planner). Even though I've been doing a mix of diary and journal entries these recent years, I'll still call mine diary.

Anyway... I just want to say that this diary is still usable! Do I want to use it next year? But I also have that 2018-current diary that's also not filled yet. *sigh*

I'm tired of the fabric cover getting dusty so I wrapped it with plastic cover just now. I also added these years thing to make it convenient to refer old entries again.

Look, it's still filled less than a half of the diary...

Not sure if it can be seen here but I really love the paper's colour.

I've been looking for foolscap paper set in this colour and haven't found any on Shopee. I had purchased one before in local stationery store so I know it exists somewhere.

Probably should check the store again (but I think they don't have it anymore the last time I was there).

Fine Wednesday

Posted in: 2021 posts | blog images | Photo Stories | The Weather Looks...

Around 3pm
Some 20 minutes later...
It's [surprisingly] a fine day today. Very cloudy.
No rain (but it might still happen at night).

Never really thought about it but I guess I like looking at clouds...? I usually take photos of them when they look interesting (to me).

Suddenly recalled that I posted these kind of photos on Tumblr at the beginning. It was when I created a side blog for anything non-Arashi. At that time, I was interested in doing photoblogs... wait... would I have been more active on Instagram if I'm still into that? Probably.

Oh well, I can still do that here.

A Book from 2006

Posted in: 2021 posts | blog images | Books | Online Shopping Bag | Photo Stories | Reading

Originally, I combined this one with the "On This Day" post. It got too long so I made a new post.

Two posts in one day? Wow, I'm on fire today XD

This is just a post to talk about what arrived today. Books. What else can it be?

"What Knot?" - I did mention that I want to learn how to tie knots in a previous post. I do have interest in it way before I read "The Hunger Games". #actfast #lol

"The Art of X-Ray Reading" - Second non-fiction book in this online shopping bag. Sounded interesting. I also want to improve my writing so hopefully I'll get something from this.

The X-Files Origins' "Agent of Chaos" & "Devil's Advocate" - I'm a fan of the TV series. And I'm curious about their teenage years. Since BBW have the hardback version, I thought "It's now or never".

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Changed my mind about reading P&P-ish books. Suddenly recalled about this book last night. Decided to reread it.

Adeline Yen Mah's "Falling Leaves"

15 years ago! Still looks fine to me despite the foxing stains.
I don't write dates like that anymore. Now I use date stamp (or is it dater stamp?)... I wonder if anyone recognises me by my handwriting
I used an adhesive plastic cover with patterns for the book cover (sth like this). Can you see the bamboo pattern? I think I chose that pattern for this on purpose.

I have more

Posted in: 2021 posts | blog images | Diana Wynne Jones | Online Shopping Bag | Photo Stories

More cheap books. The end.

LOL

I also have few books received recently that I didn't talk about in this blog. The Carousell's one has yet to arrive (maybe tomorrow? not sure if I'll blog about it).

"Footsteps in the Dark" and "Green Island" are random picks. "The Ogre Downstairs" is a DWJ book I never read before. That's the main reason this purchase happened.

One of My Favourite Things

Posted in: 2021 posts | blog images | Online Shopping Bag | Photo Stories

Received this today.

I forgot how nice it is to have this wrapped around my books. Since I have limited supply, I'll have to select which books will get this treatment (lol). I had books I re-wrapped several times using the normal plastic cover. Several times - yes - because it kept getting torn or I made it too tight and it warped the book cover. Books that got their covers wrapped with this adhesive version still look nice today. The only tricky part is putting it on nicely. (Although if I messed up a bit in the past, it still looks okay today just not perfect)

Going to start with DWJ's books.

Remember this?

Posted in: 2021 posts | blog images | Books | Photo Stories

I posted about my old Fear Street books last month and this one had a detached cover.

I think it was eaten by termites...? [Or other paper-eating insects?]

Anyway. If I want to read this book again, I want the cover in place so I repair...erm.. improvised (lol). I used a piece of thick A4 paper. Divided into two for the front and back covers. Glued the nasty-looking covers on them. Because I thought the colour was suitable, I used the highlighter and filled the visible white parts with it. Then I wrapped it with some leftover adhesive plastic cover. You can see that it's not enough at the back cover.

Resurrected cover

The paper I used
There's a white line there where I put clear cellophane tape. Yeah, I totally forgot to use the highlighter first before putting the tape *sigh*.

Back cover
I'm quite proud of it haha. The fluorescent colour is very striking - I chuckled whenever I catch a glance of it XD. But it does complement the old cover well, I think.

What do you think?

スキビ

Posted in: # Skip Beat! | 2021 posts | blog images | My Fangirl Side | Online Shopping Bag | Photo Stories | Seiyuu Love | This Made My Day

I'm very happy that they brought the anime voice actors back to make a voice drama (basically videos with scenes from the manga accompanied with voices). And they did the elevator scene (YAY!) and the scene after that (YAY YAY!). I'm trying not to spoil so if you read until those scenes, you know what I'm talking about.

...and why am I fangirling over SB here? Because this is the highlight of my day today. Since I'm blogging daily anyway so why not talk about this today?

White Choc Macadamia

Yes, I aimed for this part lol

Feeling a bit paranoid so... someone from my family had their birthday today. Photo session (?) was hillarious - "Don't include the pants [in the photo]!"

p/s: *paranoia intensifies* Heard something about my mother's boss a couple hours before this post. Is it time to start panicking?

Sunflowers

Posted in: 2020 posts | blog images | Gardening Stuff | My Fangirl Side | Photo Stories

I tried planting sunflowers few months ago. My first try didn't end up well (Nowadays, I keep reminding myself that they need full sun!). This is my second try.

BTW, I got my sunflower seeds (Autumn Beauty) from Iris Gardening via Shopee.

This photo was taken a week ago.

Today, it looks like this.

But...
Oohh.. there's another one!

This is my other sunflower.. just bloomed this week.

Me on Christmas Eve

Posted in: 2019 posts | blog images | Family | me on... | NaBloPoMo | Personal Photos | Photo Stories

Yesterday's dinner with 40+ people was better than I expected.
It's quite rare to see this stuff. My family doesn't always host such dinner party.

Today's dinner with relatives from Tawau was great.
We had dinner at Restoran Masakan Sedap.

Ahhhh... I guess we're halfway through Christmas events? *not excited for tomorrow*

Durian Chocolate

Posted in: 2019 posts | blog images | NaBloPoMo | Personal Photos | Photo Stories

I tried this today. Surprisingly good! I don't eat durian much but I CAN eat it. Although I had my reservations when I saw this. Tried it anyway in the end and came to love the taste. I think it's more like a durian-flavoured white chocolate? The smell of durian is strong but not overpowering. No durian aftertaste either. My mother received this at work (or maybe it was some meeting?) and the person who gave her said it's already being exported to China & Japan.

The Other Sabrina Book

Posted in: 2019 posts | blog images | Books | NaBloPoMo | Photo Stories

Look, I found the other one! I also removed the plastic cover this time. It might be hard to see but the cover is warped probably due to humidity. It wasn't stored in an enclosed space like the other one.

I also found one of my Goosebumps books (an Omnibus edition). I was a big fan of R.L. Stine when I was in primary school. Had fun reading his books again in secondary school because the school library had his "Fear Street" series stocked. I re-read some Goosebumps books recently and realised I've outgrown reading them. Oh, but I still want to read "Fear Street" books again! I own a few of them but I don't know where they are now. I could probably find them on Carousell. It's a good place to find used books.

A Short Photo Log

Posted in: 2019 posts | Birthday | blog images | NaBloPoMo | Personal Photos | Photo Stories

Found old school books today. And a box of old photos. I was laughing as I sorted them out haha.. Here are some of my chibi self:

Birthday pout!
So, apparently I was 2 years old when I first got on a plane. This was taken during that trip.
I find this pose amusing XD

It rained today too.

Posted in: 2019 posts | blog images | Books | NaBloPoMo | Photo Stories | The Weather Looks...

Drove my father to the hospital to visit my aunt who was hospitalised there.

*sigh* I don't really like going to hospitals now. They make me feel uncomfortable. They also make me recall things like people can have many faces and two of them are gross and mean. I would have mentioned selfish but people are naturally selfish so nothing new there.

Nowadays, the weather in Kota Kinabalu always looks like this. The sky on your left side looks fine then turn your head 90° to the right, you get dark clouds. Not really complaining though. I rather have this than the [super] hot weather we had in the beginning of the year.

I reblogged something related to that on Tumblr before:
https://ruyandaplus.tumblr.com/post/145931905354/makesgoodchoices-i-am-in-the-1-of-the

Because it was raining, my father abandoned the idea to have dinner in Luyang and instead suggested City Mall. I also stopped by Popular and ended up with two books *sigh*. But they were on bargain so I want to consider it a win (unless it turned out to be a bad read which I had experienced before and thought "That's why it was so cheap!"). The bargain/hot/great deals corner in Popular bookstores is slowly becoming my favourite spot in the store.

P.S. Been trying this label series (lol), Photo Stories, recently. They might be mundane stuff to you but it fits well for my personal blog, which supposed to be like a diary of some kind. I was inspired by a post I did before "5 Flavours Inside a Memory Box." 10 years ago. Come to think of it, that can turn to another kind of label series too. Ooh, ideas~!

Old Sabrina Book

Posted in: 2019 posts | blog images | Books | NaBloPoMo | Photo Stories

Sabrina The Teenage Witch - Mummy Dearest

Yellowed pages and bookworm damages(?)

Found this old book of mine while doing some check-and-organise mystery boxes (hah!) at home. I removed the plastic cover I put on from before because it felt gross on my hand (T_T). Look at the colour difference!

I loved watching the show when it was on TV. I only have two (or three) books though... if I remember correctly. The other one was Switcheroo or something. There's a new version of the show on Netflix but I haven't had the chance to watch it yet (big thank you to my little bro for sharing his account ☆).
