First Day's Rants

February's first post!

I do love adding posts to that "1st post" label :D

Books

So... yesterday I received a BBW parcel in the mail for books— "My Heart is a Chainsaw"... and yet another version of "Dracula". SIGH. I can't explain it. My reasons are it's hardcover and probably has larger text size (this is very important). It also might be pricier elsewhere. That's what I told myself but really... It's just that every time I see it, I'm reminded of how I kind of prefer "Dracula" to "Frankenstein" (not a fan of the writing style & Victor Frankenstein is annoying) and always have to check if it's a version worth buying so that I can reread it. The amount of efforts(?) I'm putting into this is so ridiculous especially considering "Dracula" isn't even a favourite LOL

The last time I blogged about the voice thing is in a July 2025 post. Yeah. It's getting worse this year. I just unsubscribed from a WuWa lore channel because I can't stand their voice. It's actually pretty normal-sounding but it's just the way they read that I find annoying. I don't like it, so I unsubbed. I really don't care anymore. This is a year of cutting out annoying things from my life.

Reading

I am "saved" by my flower-picking trips again because the first book I finished this year is from those trips. It's a book I found at Karamunsing in 2024. Unfortunately it's a 1.5 star read (rounded down to 1 on GR). I don't find it okay and I don't particularly hate it so 1.5 is just perfect. It's just a bit too boring. The characters are okay (it's a multiple POVs kind of book) but I hate the bride's POV and I won't deny, that's one of major reasons that ruined the book for me. Another is the multiple POVs format. I don't usually have problems with books that use that but here, it almost makes me want to hate the format. It makes the timeline confusing sometimes, like I still get it, but it's very distracting when you jump around them.

Anyway... it's going to be another year of mood reading. It might be more reading than last year but still moody :P

Mini WuWa Talk

I've been seeing some discussions about the 3.0 main story quest which I find very interesting. I kinda arrived at the conclusion it's because they are still building the lore and world (and a bit experimenting), like they did in 1.0 and 2.0 but I guess people are comparing it to 2.0...? I just hope it's not a case of overglazing 2.0 because honestly that feeling they have now for 3.0? I think I had that during 2.0. It just got covered up by a big bang ending that is the carnevale. In the latest patch, it made me realised, "Ah.. so they're still building up the lore" like that literally means it's still cooking in the kitchen... it's the first chapter, you don't usually get the ending of the book in the first chapter.

Oh well.

I'm just here for Rover. For me, the big main story is Rover's past and memories. The most important thing in the main story is Rover. I guess not many see it that way because it actually makes sense that some characters don't appear that much again because IT'S Rover's story. Why would the main focus of the main story moves somewhere else?

[Wait... Ohhhh, so the segue arcs are for this... an alternate PoV... without involving the main story directly. Just like a peek behind the stage kind of thing.]

I'm here to provide life updates XD

Not much happening really... though I did get sick like one-two-ish weeks ago. It felt like a weird flu (didn't check if it's Covid though). Surprisingly wasn't very "mucousy" but still had a very bad case of blocked nose (I guess it's still there). It started with a sore throat. Had very mild fever throughout the couple of weeks I was sick, like it wasn't that bad but the fever was persistent for some reason. Honestly, I did give myself a scare by wondering if it's pneumonia although I didn't really have difficulty breathing (except those few times the blocked nose made it hard to sleep). Didn't experience loss of smell.
I finally finished my second book which is a manga (or manhwa, seeing that the author name's sounds like a Korean)... although it's more like a collection of horror short stories in the form of both comic and written short stories... It was obviously for teenagers but I quite enjoyed reading it (especially when it doesn't shy away from killing its characters). I couldn't find an entry of the book on GR so I guess it won't count as one of the books I finished this year in GR. Oh well.

The washing machine at home finally broke down after a few years of being in a half-functioning state. The reason I mentioned this is because I finished reading the book while waiting for the laundry to complete at a self-service laundromat XD

I suppose I had the opportunity to dive into books when I was sick but I don't feel like "tainting" my books with germ so... or maybe that's just my reading slump speaking.

Mini WuWa Talk
Some updates before the next patch is up~

Didn't manage to get another copy of Brant so now it solidified the fact(?) that I seem to have "skipped" this patch lol. Seriously... since I don't have anyone new to built I ended up maxing out Calcharo's skills XD (I still need to get better echoes for him). Yeah, just call me stubborn, I still intend to max out every resonators I have and I don't care if you think it's wasteful~! Not like I have everybody anyway... I just want everyone to be at max level (including their skills) then I'll be sure if they aren't hitting damage enough it's because of my skill issues XD. It's now at a point where I'm using a wheel online to pick who's next to built lol. I just need another boss fight to complete my all my Encore's skills.

Did a last minute 10-convene in my backup-speedrun account and manage to get a guaranteed Brant early lol... So all my accounts now have Brant. I barely got his signature weapon for my RuRu & speedrun accounts... now I have to wait for another rerun for this one account XD

There's kind of an advantage (I guess) to maxing everybody to Level 90... they are kinda ready to be used in Dreaming Deep event :P... I know, I know.. most don't care about this event (understandable) but I do like it a bit because of the lore(?) stuff. They're probably not canon but I think it's close enough that I find some of them interesting and fascinating, like looking for lore beyond the symbolisms or something... I want to believe that some Rover lore exists there in the ~~Black Shores~~ Pysche Pass stage.
Anyway I've been filtering - I guess you can call it that - the WuWa contents I watch on Youtube recently. While I do see some of those drama stuff, it's really more fun to see someone playing the game [for fun]... I've been introduced to taking photos during fights (it's part of a WuWa competition in China - Jinzhou Cup) which looks fun :P
Most probably will use my guarantee on Augusta because apparently she has shields...?! I need another shielder to fight the dragon (can't really use Brant who has the same attribute). I never even thought of getting her (except her weapon) until I hear about the shield lol

Reading Slump is a Go

Yup, very much still kind of in a reading slump... which I've embraced fully(?) as mood reading. Like, it's not I stopped reading completely... I still read just not much as before. It's almost like a dormant period of some sort lol - everything is happening in slow motion XD

First Book

Unfortunately (and humorously, I must add), the reading situation makes my journey of reading books at the place I pick flowers more noticeable. It probably didn't help that the first book I finished this year is "The Giant Bathroom Reader" lol (mentioned in a post from October 2023). Honestly, that's a book that really lives up to its title. It's full of short and brief paragraphs... and most of the time with gory and gross details, definitely not something you want to read while eating a meal.

Reading ≠ Buying Books
It's kind of hard to describe but nowadays I'm very sceptic and pessimistic of books with nice covers and synopses. But at the same time, if it's something I do have interest in, I just want to get it so that I have it ready when I want to read it. Definitely not a healthy way to do it but I do more side-eyeing these days so it balances out in the end...?

Youtube

Honestly, I've been skipping more and more reading videos recently due to my reading slump/mood. If I don't skip, then they'll be videos I put on the background (and it remains uncertain if I'm able to listen to it properly or not). Most of the time I became sceptic and think "Was it really good though?". Sometimes books hauls are just another yapfest - I wish some of them just skip the synopses (or do a more brief synopsis)... Also, I still have problems with voices (just like back in February) so I usually DNF those videos as soon as I feel irritated.

Reading in the Future...?

It should be obvious at this point that the future is dim XD. I probably will focus more on series that I do love and a few of the ones I'm interested in (yeah, reading is slumping but curiosity stays on, totally unrelated). Reading will be slow and sporadic.

2.3 Preview Livestream

Overall I enjoyed it. Loved the music performance interludes... including the orchestra performance at the end ♥!

I've seen a glimpse of the chat during the stream so I already know there are going to be players complaining. I don't play a lot of gacha games but I know to always keep low expectations so anything extra (like a free Xiangli Yao) is just a bonus. This time I only look forward to what events we'll be getting & how it will affect my Rover, and I'm happy with what I see. So I'm one of those rare ones that can say "My expectations are met ♥"

Some random, happy thoughts about it:

Carlotta handing maracas to Calcharo
Zani's gameplay looks so cool! Unfortunately, I won't be pulling for her in my main account. Maybe only for my RuRu account since that one has Phoebe.

Also looking forward to her companion quest. Looks like we'll be in a new area...?

Honestly Ciaccona's gameplay seems like it has the potential to be annoying (during intense fights) for some reason XD... But I want her! She sounds like someone I want to have in my Aero Rover team :P (yeah, it's always because of Rover for me~)
New phantom echoes! Including a red Crownless! Been obsessed with them since I got phantom Dreamless. Also, there's chance to get the ones from limited-time events.

Chance to get Yinlin & Changli's signature weapons again... not sure if I will pull but I'll keep it in mind.

Honestly though... some comments I saw on Reddit were acting very much like the Malay proverb "Diberi betis hendak paha" [literally: "Given the calf, want thigh", basically.. once you're given the calf, now you want the thigh. The meaning is "You get a bit of something and now you want more". I guess the English proverb equivalent would be "Give someone an inch and they'll take a mile")... ~~but "calf and thigh" seem more appropriate given the attitude I saw during Cantarella's banner~~ 😒]

The general stats stuff though... these caught my attention:

Because there are so many Fusion resonators XD.. the standard ones alone already include three: Encore, Chixia & Mortefi. I remember worrying about it when I was still getting 2-3 boss materials per fight.

Oh hello my eternal(?) enemy from when my Rover is still Level 80~ Oh well, main account suffered so that I can defeat you "easily" in my other accounts XD

LOLLLLL because there was a time where Rovers been buying at max amount from Mahe's shop. Seen so many Reddit posts about it haha. I love how he was even called the richest person in Jinzhou in that one event...

Tactical Hologram Progress

Anyway, I'm tired of seeing the community complaining so today I decided to attempt some hologram fights (while I wait for my waveplates get to 60 haha).

Well... partly it's also because of the new combat event. I realised the bosses are their hologram version selves (I think?) so I kinda feel "left out" (because I'm not familiar with their attack patterns).

...and surprisingly, it has been a great day for me lol

Completed all Difficulty 6 for Huanglong's!

The last time I shared my progress, I only completed Difficulty 6 for Impermanence Heron & Mourning Aix. Then another day after that, I got Tempest Mephis' done. And I attempted again after having my Aero Rover & Changli built (with decent damage; Rover is using Sierra Gale set for now). Yeah, Brant was a great help for those three... unfortunately I couldn't use him for Inferno Rider. Today I decided to use Spectro Rover on him lol. I've seen people use her for solo fights with Inferno so I figured it should be fine. And I was right! It was very comfortable fighting using her! I also use food/potion buffs and revive when needed (like, why would you not??? It's not like you can spam-use them in one fight, there's cooldown time duh). I'm grateful that I don't need to restart so many times like what I've seen of others who attempted it.

My progress for Phantom Pain ones are this:

Only Sentry Construct is done for today... again, I'm thankful that I didn't need to attempt too many times like the horror I've seen on Youtube. Might try fighting Fallacy again later. Hecate and the dragon will need to wait until I get someone that can best use the echo buffs (Hecate and Lorelei, respectively) or ones with good stats.

Honestly, I'm not really a fan of Tactical Hologram fights because I'm scared of them XD (probably trauma from fighting Impermanence Heron for the first time *sigh*). Like, every time they announce new holograms I flinch in fear while cursing "F*ck" lol... but I guess I am skilled enough & able to fight them. It also looks like a good way to test how much I've familiarised with each resonators fighting styles so I should think of it as such... for study purposes.

WuWa Talk: Phoebe

It's time for that post again~~~!
Lol almost forgot to publish this before Brant's banner (10am today, I think)

Phoebe

To be honest, I was tempted. I did almost use my guaranteed 5-star, half-hoping that I could at least get her early. I stopped 45 pulls later. "Nah, I'll just get her next time if I'm still interested..."

My RuRu account is lucky enough to win the 50/50 (but at 71st pull)... including her weapon at 41st pull (only did one 10-pull that day though)... so I'll just make do with that.

Going through the 2.0 story again makes me feel a bit uncomfortable with Phoebe because of her association with the Order. Even though she's among the first ones that caught my attention when they were announced. I guess it fits her somehow...? She's a contradiction or something like that. In return, I also have contradicting feelings towards her.

Tower of Adversity

I finally got my first 30/30! I'm not sure if it will continue the same this month but I'll take this as a win(?): I've made progress!

Account(s) Updates

Last time I updated about my accounts' Union Level was in November, I think...?
Although I did already mention that my main account reached UL80 on new year's day.

Main: UL76 → UL80
Fenn: UL64 → UL79
RuRu: UL54 → UL74

My alternate accounts are almost at UL80, can you believe it? Even though both accounts are in a whatever mode playthrough lol...

It's only on my main account that I'm obsessed with doing everything and trophy-hunting - although I'm not that obsessed to be attempting the hologram fights... I'll take it slow and easy (so far I've only finished all difficulties for Impermanence Heron & Mourning Aix).

I also got all my resonators ascended to Level 90 (I have Youhu left not fully levelled to 90)... like seriously, the logic I stand by is it's easier to build characters... so I need/want to level them up first (including their skills, 10 on all) before I fully focus on their echoes. I'm aware that I don't need to, but as of now, this is my strategy.

Echo Presets

I've wanted this for so long! Saw some content creators said this feature isn't necessary [yet] but we still get it anyway... and I was like, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN???" As a Rover main, this is the most important thing to have because of how Rover can switch attributes! Now I can conveniently switch whenever I want.

Brant's Echo Set

I kind of accidentally started building his echo set because I was doing one for Encore. YES, I know that's not the best echo set for her but... come on.. I wanna use the dragon XD... I've been using her with Sanhua & Shorekeeper nowadays and I guess it's fine... so far. I did have to borrow Verina's Variation & use food buff to get extra Energy Regen (ER). If I get Brant's signature weapon, I should at least hit the 250% easily without using food buff.

Old Man and the Whale - Fishing Event

This is very addictive! I can play it for hours lol... basically has to restrain myself every time. It's actually perfect to do while listening to something on Youtube... Now I know what will happen in the future if I start playing Dredge :P
I suspect sales for Dredge will be higher around this time (well, there's a sale in Epic too so...) because I can just imagine WuWa players getting it after the fishing event XD

Fantasies of the Thousand Gateways - Weekly Combat Challenge

Honestly, I love this one. It's like mini or lite Illusive Realm (but not quite)... and I have this as an alternative to doing Tacet Fields (which I can get bored of doing). It's probably the best way for me as of now to get Echo XPs without getting more echoes in your inventory (you get them as unborn echo boxes instead).

Whimpering Wastes

It's okay so far. Still kind of figuring out how to get better scores. I'm pretty lucky that I have Jiyan and Xiangli Yao for this.

Almost 12 Hours

What... a... day.

I'm only here to unload:

We had no power since 3am. It only returned minutes before 3pm. ALMOST 12 HOURS. Crazy! As expected, my phones' battery levels were under 20% after that long. It was surprisingly very humid around afternoon (it feels like it's going to rain but there's no sign of it) which made everything feel worse because I was "sticky" from sweating... and very much dehydrated by the time the power came back.
Almost got that headache again but apparently my body chose stomach ache at the end of the day instead lol (probably due to stress-eating/drinking when there's no power)
My Youtube adventures have reached a level where I just DNF watching videos depending on my moods lol. The biggest change(?) will be how I became very picky with voices. I can't stand watching videos with voices I don't find pleasant. It's not this bad before but now I just, urgh, go almost bananas when I don't like the voice.
Reading slump is still up and alive. This has made me skip some reading-related videos (there's also the voice issues *sigh*)... the positive effect is I'm discovering/watching a different kind/genre of videos, which I don't usually do in the past.

#SpotifyWrapped and YT's Gaming Recap

Honestly, I feel like I've been listening to music on Spotify even less this year lol

7th Time Loop anime opening theme song.
I'm very obsessed with the bridge before the chorus - it's very addicting - I just want to listen to that part again and again XD

If I remember correctly, the top songs were pretty much from the first half of 2024... "The Legend of ShenLi" instrumental opening theme made into Top 5 XD. Also, 7th Time Loop anime's ending theme... what's amazing about this is... I haven't even finish watching both shows lol

I feel like I need to explain "Romantic Love Song"... Apparently it was from the time I've been listening to Westlife's albums in February haha

Well, I don't know why Shonen is mentioned there lol (probably one of the anime theme songs I was listening trigger this?) - that's like my least favourite genre of manga. I just don't like how long and harem-y they can get sometimes.
[I'll still read/watch them if the story is interesting but I most probably will be out/DNF when the big boobies appear 😑]

"Atmospheric Fantasy Soundtrack" is thanks to Wuthering Waves soundtracks :P

Honestly, I thought this would change seeing how little I've been listening but now I'm glad to know it's still them

Belated Updates

Kind of just realised that I didn't post anything on the first day of the month :P

Anyway... nothing new really.

Oh yeah. I got sick since Friday... so that's been fun :/ *sigh*
Funny thing is my hearing is more sensitive (hormones?) recently and certain songs and voices sound extra fine... I want to sing along to songs I'm listening on Spotify, while being sick. Such great time to be sick, right? XD. It is kind of perfect timing to practise singing songs with low notes though (but that might not be healthy for the throat on the long run :P.. honestly not easy to do anyway because I keep wanting to cough.. or be out of breath because of congested nose lol)

Still in a slow(?) reading period. Started reading a manga recently (after finishing Vol 2 of "7th Time Loop") and it's a nice... palate cleanser. Reading light-hearted shoujo manga in between books are very much recommended!

I'm also slowly going through my Watch Later playlist. I fast-forward parts I think I don't need to see, cut out (=remove) videos I'm not interested in watching anymore from the playlist... although I'm running out of videos that I could play in the background (oh well). I try not adding new videos whenever possible.

Oh yeah, finally finished posting a year worth of posts on my Wordpress blog(?). I called it my "On This Day" archive blog. It's similar to the list of posts I do yearly in this blog (here's this year's).. but it's by day format. Mostly it's made for my own convenience - you can take a look if you want to since it's public lol.

WuWa Talk: Some Updates

Good news is I fulfil the requirements to get Xiangli Yao for both my main and Fenn accounts. Haven't done anything with my RuRu account yet but I might be speeding through the main story again (this time in Chinese!) later. I don't need to do it but I don't like missing out on Jiyan's mini event mission.

I procrastinated completing the event until my birthday lol... it was basically a date (at least it was for me & my female Rover! SHUT UP! *blushes*) with Xiangli Yao XD.

Minor spoilers (but without context?)

His trailer was released yesterday and I've been re-watching it over and over again through videos of people reacting to it since then... in short, I'm excited!

Fenn account

Very tempted to use Fenn as Havoc Rover but... I'll stay as Spectro Rover for now (since it's canon for the rest of the main story quests).
I tried to get Zhezhi for my Fenn account but I ended up getting another copy of Verina *sigh*... I don't know if I even want to try for my other alternate account with less than 3 days left lol

Main account

Kind of done upgrading most of my ascended-to-level-90 resonators (except skills & some weapons) so I might continue building my Spectro Rover (skills and echoes) next. Maybe a bit of Xiangli Yao (with Yuanwu on the side) too, depending on my mood haha. I guess it does help that my Union Level is over 60 because I get more material/stuff than before...
I've been seeing people calling Calcharo other names on Reddit/YT and he's "basically being replaced" by Xiangli Yao... which honestly, I don't wish to give any comments to. Only that, it kind of have the opposite(?) effect on me because I've been using him more recently along with my Rover and Verina... it's been fun! Letting him "borrow" Jiyan's signature weapon works wonders. I do hope he'll get his own 5-star broadblade later on... (and by that I mean I hope I can get the one from the standard 5-star weapon OR another copy of Jiyan's Verdant Summit if they ever do a rerun).

Rain, rain, come this way...

I'm here to complain about the weather~~~

We had a few rainy days every week this month but the other non-rainy days were just humid hot... the humidness makes it so much worse gahhhh I hate it!

So... I ended up going to the Matta fair at SICC last Friday with my family. Main reason of going: I wanted to be in a air-conditioned room (it was good cooled air btw! lol) hahahah seriously though. The weather is hot enough for me to complain at least once daily *sigh*

After that, we stopped by at Suria Sabah for lunch. Also tried llaollao frozen yoghurt for the first time there with Biscoff crumbs, pistachio sauce and Biscoff sauce as the toppings. Really loving that Biscoff sauce though, that's like one of my favourite textures for eating lol

Watching

I've been watching some of this season's anime but the watching slump is still so bad... Wouldn't surprise me if I abandon some of them (to watch for later)
Started watching "The Legend of ShenLi" (it will forever bother me that the official title isn't "Shen Li" or "Shenli" lol) and fell in love with the opening instrumental theme (another link, just in case). It's soooo good!

Reading

Finished reading "Queen of the Tiles". It was just okay, I guess. I don't particularly find the characters likeable. Including the dead character (not spoiler btw) the title of the book refers to.
Started reading "Chess"... I'm reading it very slowly so I'm pretty much still in the beginning...

They arrived today

The books I mentioned in the previous post arrived today~

Chess - I guess this book will be my introduction to Stefan Zweig's works...? I don't really remember how I ended up looking for his books in the past (I think it was a Chinese movie that was based on one of his short stories/novellas...). It was only at interest level at that time. Then I got convinced to read one when it was mentioned by someone on Youtube.

Some updates(?):

I finally finished [re-]playing an old-time favourite game: "Ghostbusters: The Video Game". It still feels as good as before! I did get "stressed out" during one of the parts where you play solo though. I didn't realise until I got a headache due to stiff shoulders... wow that hasn't happened for so long since the last one. It usually too late when it happens. Anyway, instantly got some 20GB data back upon uninstalling the game :P (I need to finish more of the ones I got installed *sigh*)

Recently purchased some books from Kino. One of the books isn't in stock so I need to wait 3-4 weeks. Probably. Because today I just realised they had shipped out the ones that were in stock (I think I got the last copies because they went out of stock soon after I made the order). They never did that before. So either the other book will get cancelled or they'll just ship it later (which got me worried about the shipping cost...)

Hasn't been enjoying some contents on Youtube so I just instantly DNF them or not add them to my Watch Later playlist. I can't even be bothered to let them play in the background. Currently, that's the kind of mood I'm in.

I just simply take the six months ahead date because it's easier. If we're going to be very precise... apparently, it should be on March 3rd this year...?

I actually aim to read at least three books every month but I got only two books finished last month. It's almost a wonder that I didn't fall into full-mode reading slump lol. I guess part of it was because I truly enjoy those two books... although it did take me almost a month to finish "Death Notice". I realised midway that it wasn't a book I could finish in one (or few more) sittings... I had to like take a break from reading after at least one death in the story (there were quite a number of them T_T). I'm expecting this month to have more relaxed reading... sessions, though I'm not sure what that means for now. I guess, more moods-guided chosen books? XD

Thanks to my Youtube recommendations, I've gotten myself [almost] obsessed with jigsaw puzzles (Karen Puzzles, anyone? XD). I know. That's so random lol. Well, it's not like I don't have any interest in it before... I just had the impression that if I do one, I must glue them up and put in a frame or something. Somehow it never occur to me to just do one, dissemble them & put everything back in their original box... This realisation is kind of a dangerous one because I've started looking for them on Shopee...

Snacky Spoilers

Spoilers are like... snacks. You can't have too many of it. And yet, there'll be some days where you overindulge on them.

Which, in my opinion, is totally fine by me :P... Both ways...

It's only a bit overwhelming at times haha. My memory is crap anyway so I guess that must be partially why I'm okay with reading spoilers - because I wouldn't remember all of them anyway XD

[At the same time, I'm amazed with my selective memory :P... I could pretty much remember most of the stories I read, albeit some triggers/keywords are needed, I'm just still bad at remembering titles and character names haha]

But spoilers are good these few days. It helped me decide if I want to keep reading certain manhwa because spoilers bring hope~! Although, honestly, I could do without those MTL-ed spoilers - they mess my brain so bad :\

Received a couple of books today~

The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent LN #9 - Finally~! Although I guess it's just me rereading it in English this time :P... Speaking of this, I made progress in watching the anime today - I'm finally at the Hawke domain arc!!! *proud*
The Ark Sakura - I did start reading his other book, "The Woman in the Dunes", in the past (borrowed online) but didn't manage to finish it *sigh*. I wanted to get the physical version but the version I wanted doesn't seem to be in stock. I guess I'll try finishing this one first to really see if I like the writing style.

Reading Schedule Generator! There was a period that I didn't use it... then when I got lazy about printing it, I just wrote the schedule down somewhere XD. I think the last time I was using it was to help with avoiding reading slumps (lol) until I started using the ReadMore app again. The app has its own reading schedule feature so I guess that means I still use one? XD

I don't use it for every book I read but currently I do use one for "Leviathan Wakes"....

Anime

--- Still kind of in a watching slump, but I'm trying to watch a few of them (the ones I've read before)... it's a slow progress *sigh*

Games

--- I've been watching some of John Wolfe's playthrough on his JohnTwolfe channel... I enjoyed watching his Dredge playthroughs! I think that kind of got me back to wanting to read some H. P. Lovecraft stories (Thanks, John! Although I haven't started reading it... XD). He just started playing Stray so I'm excited to follow that one next! He's also playing Lethal Company with his friends & it was fun chaos :P

--- I am still interested in doing a Mass Effect Weekend thing but I need to think more about how I'm doing it.

--- Currently I'm obsessed with this one track from Strawberry Night movie OST

--- Reading is... sufficient(?) at this moment. I'm reading just enough. "Leviathan Wakes" is surprisingly a comfortable read so far (considering the stuff happening in the story), I'm enjoying it so far! I'm also reading "Death Notice" and I like the mystery~

--- Recently, I've been reading "For My Derelict Favorite" (Thus, post title = Female lead's name). It started from the manhwa and now to the fan-translated web novel. I seriously need to know how it ends! The antagonist is a good [quality] villain. She's not exactly the cockroach kind (I thought of using praying mantis b*tch, since she's a saintess but maybe not... since FL called her queen bee... so... Queen Bee B*tch??) I love how FL uses QBB own beliefs against the Queen B*tch herself (wait, am I missing a word? :P). I can't wait to read more!!!

I guess I could add some more that I think are my bookish red flags...

I hate-read, because I rarely DNF books I've purchased (even if they are cheap/thrifted). To give the book 0.5-2 stars has been one of the few things that motivates me to finish a book. ✿ No worries, I don't really believe there are that many hidden gems out there so I don't feel like I'm missing out (positive pessimist here). I consider myself pretty picky with what I start to read so there's less regret regarding that.
I used to dog-ear my books but now I seldom do it after "being scolded" by one of the characters in Diana Wynne Jones' "Fire and Hemlock"... (I don't remember the exact words and scene though)
I... read in the bathroom. I finished many books through this method (even during reading slumps) so leave me be XD ✿ Good(?) news - some books I've soft-DNF-ed ended up here~
I don't really consider this a red flag but most avid readers might consider so - I don't mind books with movie/TV drama covers :P ✿ I grew up watching/reading(?) some of Qiong Yao's TV dramas/books and let me tell you, some of her [first edition?] books have those covers [Examples in this blog: HZGG & HZGG2]. Totally not weirded out by them. I don't feel as much prejudice as the others towards them.
Also, not sure if this is a red flag because it sounds more like an eccentric habit. Though I don't do it for all. I am friends with spoilers! That doesn't mean I'm okay with being spoiled all the time - I want it to be on my own terms. I sometimes read ahead, jump around to read spoilers...& flirt with spoilers XD

Some updates!

Shopee - Didn't receive any replies since yesterday so I just submitted a refund request today.
Reading - Slow...? Even though there are a few books I wish to start as soon as possible... ??? Can I start and finish "Leviathan Wakes" safely this month?????
Anime - Still in a watching slump... The only one I'm watching is "7th Time Loop"~ It's kind of automatic because it took a lot of efforts to be able to watch them.
Youtube - Some... voices annoy me. I had/have fun DNF-ing those videos. I don't care anymore.
Reading Plans - I kind of have some vague plans of what I want to read this year but I don't want to commit to anything. The plans can easily change according to my mood at that time *sigh*. Some of the plans include the not-rigid list from way back in 2021(!)... also I wish to read the other books I haven't read in Asimov's Robot series... maybe reread some DWJ books...

We can just skip the small goal, which is basically untouched (unchallenged?) the whole month lol

I managed to complete my reading challenge but... at what cost? XD

Well, the cons include

---I don't remember much what I've read

---there isn't much time to digest what I've read (which might be best for books that I don't really enjoy, but the opposite for the ones I do enjoy)

---I was anxious(?) all the time

Pros

---I finally read some of the books I kept putting off reading

---learnt that sometimes pushing myself to just read is the answer. This is usually what makes a procrastinator like me moves.

Some updates on life (which is not much really lol)

I found an alternative way to watch "7th Time Loop" anime *sigh* but I was very salty about it all the time since the last post. Yeah, pretty much as expected, I ended up getting obsessed with obtaining what I want.
Last Boss Queen Vol 4 - I guess Gil isn't a hidden character (but I don't think Pride remembers the games much anyway so she might miss someone) as it's said that she met all five love interests in this volume. Prince Cedric was... he didn't make a good first impression to me but I don't really hate him.. and yet that doesn't mean I like him (as of now). You know, he reminds me of my early experiences with some oresama characters from otome games. Hmm.. it's a strange feeling. I used to like the character developments of such characters but I guess I've grown out of it now...?
I finally updated my so-called reading journal that I abandoned for months lol~~~ It's more of a quotes journal at this point... but anyway! I realised I've been using it since 2021! That's... crazy. I'll still use it this year for quotes but I have a separate reading journal I found on Shopee that I'm trying this year. Since I'm not going to be blogging daily, I thought it should be okay for keeping my thoughts on the book because the journal I found has a review section.
Youtube - It's a me problem (because it's related to my voice fetish aka attraction to nice-sounding voices :P) but I haven't been enjoying some videos on Youtube lately. I don't know why some voices make me cringe so much. And some have such an annoying melody to the way they speak that I just DNF the video in the end... It seems like I'm more sensitive to this recently that I started wondering how I survived living this long without encountering people with very annoying voices (there is that one person with quack-sounding voice back in school but we weren't in the same class/circle so I was spared from listening to them daily)

Yeah, this makes me sound very mean about people's voices, I'm probably am... but I don't make a fuss of it in public at least (although this blog is an exception, I guess, since it is open to public). It's one of the TMI facts about me that you unfortunately now know about XD

I don't really have a specific big and small goal now so I'm not including them in this post today... I am interested in making a list of goals that I know I won't achieve 75% of them though XD. It will be more of a throwaway list of goals so it might get interesting...

7th Time Loop anime is starting tomorrow but unfortunately it's not available for Malaysian audience on Muse Asia's channel --- it makes me soooo sad! It's possible that it might be available in the future but that means I can't watch it as soon as possible.... Unless... *mumbles* it's not like I need English subs anyway *mumbles*

I am still kind of in an anime watching slump so I guess it's fine (for now) but I still don't like not having access to something I want. It just makes me obsess on it more :(

I could spend those time re-reading the light novels (and web novel!)... Re-reading the manga last month did make me want to go back to that Rishe and Arnold's world again...

n-year journal

Opted to use journal [only] in the title. ...and I love how it sounded like a pun XD

Saw a Youtube short a couple days ago about the 5-year journal and I just realised it's an interesting way to write my diary/journal...? I've heard of them before but I never knew it would look that way. For some reason I just thought it's a normal diary/journal(?).

I want to try it someday... the 5-year version might be perfect for me because of the length for each day. There's also the 3-year version... I don't think I can do that now (or starting next year) because wow that would be 3 or 5 years of committing myself to writing in my diary daily. I do think it shouldn't be hard to write at least a sentence about my day but to make it a daily routine for that long? I'm scared that I'll get bored XD... of course, it's doable, with self-discipline... but I don't wanna do that now~~~

The first thing I should really do is getting back into the habit of writing in my diary. That can serve as practice before I attempt to do any of that...
