Good Night, Saturday!

Humid, with rain at the end of the day.

I actually made some progress on "The Gambler" last night. Not sure if I'll finish it by tomorrow but progress is progress. Won't be able to do what I planned to do last week... I think next week will be better because I don't need to binge-watch MFP anymore. I can just watch it according to my own pace now.

Having neck pain again [currently] but fortunately I've been having more-than-5-hours sleep these few days. Funnily, I have problems recalling stuff, almost as if I'm in zombie mode. Probably my body isn't used to having longer sleeping time than the usual. I think I'm in a better mood though, so that's something positive.

My Fair Princess I Books

Hello world.

Such an appropriate greeting for the not-robot me :P

Look at what I got today! HZGG Part 1 books!

I was near the end of My Fair Princess S2 when I thought, "Maybe I can find the books for the first part on Shopee?", lo and behold, I found one listing... from Sabah. LOCAL! Then I checked if they can deliver here and yes, it's possible! Like I don't even use free shipping vouchers for this (because I was out of them lol). Since it's local, the shipping fee is only RM5.

No more scouring for the books on Carousell (this set is what I was trying to buy last August on Carousell that didn't go through).

I'm happy that I got a complete set now.

I even got the version with the old, original covers!

Not going to read them now since I just started re-watching the series. MFP3 will be new, but I know the story generally from reading years, years ago... so I'm going in with spoilers (if not, I'll never survive watching Zhihua).

I'll be honest, I did fastforwarded many parts when I watch S1 and S2. I was trying to watch all three before September ends but it didn't happened.

I don't have much patience recently (esp after that "Morbid Friday" post). Life is short. Sometimes, you have to use that speed thingy on Youtube to make them speak faster (or slower for those who speaks too fast, but then this will take longer lol.. so far, I only have one youtuber that do this).

Dumping my MFP-rewatch/watch thoughts here:

Since I know the story already, I'm acting like "Oh you will be fine" when they show the characters suffering. Also "Foreshadowing!!!!" lol
I saw some comments on YT about people romanticizing the life in forbidden palace (because of more recent tv dramas)... and after seeing MFP, I can confirm that I don't share the same sentiment. Oof life is (was) hard there... I'll probably die before I can learn all the rules.
The main theme of all three series is: Keeping secrets from the Emperor
It's available on Youtube with English subtitles. I've started watching there after dimsum.my's demise today.

Ertai is so underappreciated
Just kind of realised that one character accidentally shot his future wife with an arrow while the other arrested his future wife for disrupting peace
Mild crush on Erkang
Mild crush on the emperor (he's so cool and clever!)

I love Qing'er
Qing'er is best girl
Emperor is still cool but.. I can't deal with the scenes with Han Xiang
Meeting Han Xiang & Meng Dan are the MFP gang's misfortune
Han Xiang & Meng Dan are my least favourite characters. Also least favourite couple.
Lovesick Erkang only has Ziwei in his eyes & heart so no more mild crushing
Fatherly emperor is cool (That tears...! Superb acting by Zhang Tielin! So going to miss him when watching MFP3)

I'm just going to imagine everyone who looked different was kidnapped by aliens and then returned to earth differently (kidding :P)

Happy Sunday ♡

Having a super great morning~

Slept early last night but woke up 3 hours later... nothing new there.

What makes it great is... I have finished knitting 2nd haramaki!!! This was what got me into learning how to knit for real last year. Found this particular pattern at that time and started wishing to have one.

Feeling very accomplished :)

But this isn't mine though (Mine is to be in grey colour *coming soon*). Made this for my mother.

It looks like a skirt and it's hefty! Might be too warm for the weather here haha... But I believe it's still usable during cold weather or in cold rooms.

I don't know if I want to start my grey haramaki soon after this. Hmmm should I go and learn how to crochet now?... since I reached this milestone already. Honestly, haven't thought of what to knit next (other than the grey haramaki).

If I remember correctly, at least half of this was knitted when I watched "My Fair Princess" on dimsum. Since the platform is going away this month, I've been binge-watching MFP from the first season. Currently, I'm watching the second season together with the third season. The advantages of knowing how it ends really help here XD. Probably part of the reason I haven't finished reading those two books is because I was (am) busy watching this lol

"The Gambler".

OMG (secretly relieved)

My second book by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Honestly, I didn't really like "Crime and Punishment". But I read that in 2014 so I probably should try rereading it in the [very] far future to see if I have a change of heart. I don't remember much other than thinking the main character whiny or something. Don't know how I'll fare with this... At least I'm glad that it's not as long as "Crime and Punishment".

Palace

Started watching "Palace" recently and... let me just say this from what I've seen so far: I don't like Fourth Prince...? I saw "Secret Battle of the Majesty" (I still love the theme song!) before and I loved Kwong Wa's version of Fourth Prince. It's not like I don't like dark, cunning characters. I guess I'm just not a fan of Palace's Fourth Prince *bitter smile*. I haven't seen "Scarlet Heart" yet so not sure if I'll like Nicky Wu's version... (not even sure if I want to watch it because I heard it's sad/heart-wrenching).

Anyway, back to "Palace". I don't really have a favourite prince as of now. Eighth Prince is too forceful (I read somewhere that he's supposedly made like Domyouji...? *baffled*). At the episode I'm in, I'm feeling pity for the Crown Prince but that's all. Honestly, I'm watching the series just for Yang Mi and the female period costumes (so colourful and beautiful!). I do have a soft spot for historical Cdrama set in the Qing dynasty (partly thanks to "My Fair Princess"... and "Secret Battle" too, I guess - I was so crazy with that series before, I don't know how I managed to survive watching all those political & military stuff happening in the series :P)

My Fair Princess Haunts Me Again

HZGG PART 2 NOVELS~~~~~

AKA Huan Zhu Ge Ge. My Fair Princess. Princess Returning Pearl(?).

This is the thing I found on Carousell recently. So lucky that I found the exact version I wanted (the one with the casts on the covers). This is the ones I asked my sister to borrow from the school library for me to read lol. They are in better condition than the school library's though (fortunately!) which is understandable. I was the school librarian before and I noticed it getting borrowed pretty often (very popular item). I wasn't brave enough to borrow at that time because I was embarrassed if people ask if I can even read it. Since I learnt to read Chinese informally (and haphazardly), I've always feel like I don't know enough or something. I guess it's something like inferiority complex kind of thing?

ANYWAY. Back to present. Yeah. Never thought I'll be able to own these today. I'm so happy~

Does this mean I'll start reading them again soon?

OH HECK NO.

It's so loooong and emotionally-draining.

I don't have the complete set of Part 1. I do have the option to buy the ebook version on Google Play but honestly, I prefer a physical version. The seller on Carousell do have the Part 1 but it's in Simplified Chinese. You can see that from the title on the cover - It's 还珠格格 instead of 還珠格格. Sometimes there are reading materials with Traditional's in the cover but the content is entirely in Simplified form. But I'm pretty sure about this one being in Simplified Chinese (because I saw the same one at the local library years ago).

It's Not Sunday

I don't know why, but today feels like a Sunday.

I was going to type about the labels in this blog then I got distracted by this blogthing quiz.

Oh god, this reminds me of how much I love time travel themed books. Especially when they are done really well. I have the Doraemon manga series to thank for that.

I definitely see it that way. And I want a mini-library of my own, yes.

Haunted

Old fandoms will forever haunt me.

Sigh.

Today, because I'm feeling... experimental(?), I decided to search for one of my fandom in the past on Carousell. Found something that I want to get. Oh gosh.

And then I got stuck reading about this.

These are what I'm knitting now. The colours really looked different when taken with my phone camera! They are not the same colour by the way. The larger one is a haramaki - this is the first time I'm using a pattern I found on Ravelry. The other one is the leg warmer.

Looking at the wiki (category) for shades of blue, I think the haramaki is more like Federal Blue while the other one Prussian Blue (I'm using the names I saw in that category page).
