Of Anime and Jars

Posted in: # Sei and Albert | 2023 posts | Anime | Netflix | On This Day | Reading

An OTD post~!

On this day, I posted thrice in the past - 2019, 2021 & last year~~~

2019
Oh, it's when someone used my e-mail to open a Netflix account!

Haaah... couldn't watch any Netflix shows since they started stopping people from sharing password few months ago :(

2021
This one is about anime...

Rewatched "The Saint's Magic is Omnipotent" last night while sewing the other half of the zip on my jacket. It was better when you watch it in one sitting lol..

Honestly, I haven't been watching much anime from this season. I guess the anime I watched from previous season really did a number on me since it caused an anime watching slump lol.. I did re-watch the first season of "The Saint's Magic is Omnipotent" and some earlier episodes of second season but progress is slow... I might catch up with S2 soon since it just ended (I think? I kind of recognised that thumbnail that looks like that scene XD).

2022
Oh gosh~

I have a new idea for another reading jar (I really love my jars lol). A TBR jar!

Damn. I didn't even get the chance to use it lol... now I'm "scared" of reading jars. Okay, maybe I'll be okay with the alphabet thing I mentioned before but haaah... the idea is still scary (=reading slump-inducing)

Fel

Posted in: 2023 posts | Anime | blog images | I Need to be Distracted | My Do-S Side | My Fangirl Side | Netflix | Utterly Distracted | Youtube

Still a bit irritable so I'm trying to keep my mouth shut more to prevent disasters(?).

But... I just saw the last episode of "Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill" last night... GAAAH I love it so much. He's so gorgeous!

SO. CUTE.

I know people really love Sui (I love Sui too) but for me, it's Fel. Even if he's just a gluttonous Fenrir XD

[The screenshots are taken from the videos on Muse Asia channel but the anime is also available on Netflix.]

On other anime that just ended:
"By the Grace of the Gods" & "The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague"  ended peacefully. I might want to re-watch the whole thing again later :P

A cliffhanger(?) ending for "Sugar Apple Fairy Tale" since it unfortunately has a second cour. I still don't like the MC so I don't feel sorry seeing what she lost in the end. In fact, I was smiling (while I rolled my eyes) because I'm just being my mean self.

I do feel sad for Challe (Shall?) though, that other girl sounds like bad n-eww-s... (did it work? I tried putting eww in "news" because that's how I feel about that other girl)

Weird Craving

Posted in: 2023 posts | Anime | Interest: Games | Interest: TV | Lazy Day Musings | Netflix | Reading | Uta no Prince-sama | Youtube

I refused to wake up twice today.

Then... I woke up with a headache late morning :P *sigh*

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Haven't returned to the book since that day. I think short story collections is my kryptonite. I might have to remove them if I get one from the jar in the future. They are giving me fears like one have for thick books - feels impossible to finish them...

Oh but I kind of like the latest method that I tried to get through them. Doesn't necessarily need to go from shortest to longest... maybe just pick one story at random and not start from the first story.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Kind of been having some weird craving for bloody movies... Is this what I get after I finish those Alien/Predator movies??? WTH lol

Well, I do have that plan about re-watching/watching Saw movies so maybe I'll move on to that...

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Just finished watching the first season of UtaPri. Damn, I still cried watching that scene in the last episode... and I also cried for Ren & Tokiya's episodes before that XD

I know it sounds weird after talking about my previous weird craving but now I want to listen to UtaPri songs lol (UtaPri craving is starting again XD)... maybe I'll also go back to the playing "Shining Live" - JP version, of course. The english version is dead :(

Left

Posted in: 2023 posts | Anime | Forty Winks and More | In Zombie Mode | Netflix | No Mood | Our Water Woes

▓▒▒░░ Randomly read about ocular dominance today (TIL of the day!). Tried the test. I think my dominant eye is the left one...although I'm right-handed. Interesting.

▓▓▒▒░  Realised that "Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill" is on Netflix, so I'm watching from the beginning again XD

▓▓▓▒░ Rough water day (*sigh* when is it not?). The water pressure felt like it's half of the already usual low...

▓▓▓▓▒ Reading is on fire today~ Made big progress on "The Silent Dead". Had to make myself sit down and focus on reading for half an hour.

▓▓▓▓▓  Reduced sleep mode (-.- ) : Tried going to bed early and it backfired. I'm not even sure if I slept or not. I'll try again at a later time. I guess 10pm is a bit ambitious for me.

February's Goals

Posted in: 2023 posts | Art Stuff | Big Goal and Small Goal | blog images | Interest: TV | Netflix

Oooh I'm actually early for this month :P

January's
(Very) Big goal:
Wake up early

Small goal:
Deal with my to-watch/currently watching list

Big goal achieved in January (25 days!) even though I have a day less than last year's December...

I feel like I finished most of the movies I was watching in January (and unfortunately started more new ones lol) so I will consider the small goal completed. I would like to continue for another month since it's such a fun goal XD

So goals this month will be the same as last month's with an extra:

(Very) Big goal:
Wake up early

Small goals:
- Deal with my to-watch/currently watching list
- Draw Pakho Chau

Randomly added that last one to make myself do it this month (or at least attempt to do it) XD... He still haunts me... (I guess it's my own fault since I keep re-watching that performance but his expression was soooo good - I LOVE IT SO MUCH)

Out

Posted in: 2023 posts | Interest: TV | Life: Anecdotes | Netflix

Did a bit of an emergency cleaning in my room today. I really hope it won't trigger more hives tomorrow :/

Finished watching "Bodies Bodies Bodies" couple hours ago. I was ready to give it a thumbs down on Netflix but the ending made me changed my mind. I gave one thumbs up.

...It's after 10pm and I'm already sleepy. I think I'll go to sleep early today~

The Other Omnibus

Posted in: 2023 posts | Anime | blog images | Books | Forty Winks and More | Interest: TV | Netflix | Online Shopping | Shopping Bag

It's weird that I couldn't sleep last night even though I was very sleepy! How does that even work??? Anyway, I ended up binge-watching "No Doubt In Us" on Netflix. This was a fun one. And I loved that each episode is like 10 minutes long so it's very bingeable.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

This arrived today. Delivered by PosLaju, who has lived up to their name again XD (Sometimes I miss getting PosLaju ones on Shopee, nowadays it's usually Shopee Xpress or J&T)

After almost two years, I finally found the first omnibus!

Great timing haha. Received this e-mail yesterday... I guess I don't have to renew the notification anymore~ I found one listing for it on Carousell just before CNY holidays - Oh yeah this was the thing I mentioned a week ago - and after knowing it's still available I just instantly tap that buy button lol... The seller was not even home! They can only send it next week (which is this week). Totally okay with that as long as the deal is done. And at great price too! It's around RM80-90 on Book Depository (but it's not available anymore) and probably costs more elsewhere.

So that means I can start reading this! I don't even know what it's about lol... why am I putting efforts into getting it, right? Anyway.. maybe not soon but I'll definitely will try to read both books this year.

Headache

Posted in: 2023 posts | Interest: TV | My Fangirl Side | Netflix | Our Water Woes | Reading | Spotify | 蘇有朋

You know what I just realised today?

Alec Su's other albums (mainly the ones from NMG Music) are available on Spotify! I don't know how long they will stay available so I'm going to listen to them as much as possible.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

It's also a day where I can do laundry early. That means I don't need to wake up at 3am to do laundry tomorrow! I guess less people are using water in our neighbourhood so the water pressure has been good most of the day. Have to do it at night though (there are some problems that come with that)... but I'll take it! I just want to wake up at normal times - just this time, please just let me wake up normally :(

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

It's crazy that I kind of still felt that headache in the morning from reading "The Difference Engine" yesterday. I think... it was a stress-induced headache..... I guess it makes sense. I'm never good at dealing with, you know, being stuck with things I don't like. I keep them buried inside until I get sick and/or experience outburst (ooh  very "fun" when this happens :/ I can get soooo unpredictable).

The headache kind of went away around noon. I tried doing things that won't make me feel stressed(?)... which apparently included [re]watching "Initial D" movie on Netflix. ...I do love fast-moving cars. Ahhh now I wanna play "Need for Speed" again~~~~

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

I'm trying to finish some books that I started last year and today my main focus is "The Maze Runner". Got reminded again why I take so long to read this... why are there so many characters????? are you Russian literature???? LOL

I think I'm just going to pretend I know who is who because it's getting ridiculous to not finish this just because of that! I'll be careful to not be too stressed until I get a headache :P

"good ppl"

Posted in: 2023 posts | Books | Netflix | No Mood | Online Shopping | Weekend Musings

I love computer screen movies~! Unfortunately, I don't find many of those on Netflix (maybe I have to search harder).

Random thought. I was watching "Unfriended" and there's this one scene where the main character said she and her friends are good people. Ermm... generally, I don't think "good people" will call themselves good people...? But... maybe that's just me. Maybe those people are grey. Maybe they are arrogant or narcissistic, but has a good heart (=good people???).

Anyway, found something on Carousell. And by found, I mean purchased XD... I'm so rusty there omg lol... Probably purchased too early (because the seller is not able to ship until next week) but I can't risk not getting the book (one of the "listing" I found on Carousell was a want-to-buy for that particular book). Maybe getting it reserved first (and pay next week) is an option too(? didn't I say I'm rusty haha)... but that's still risky! I need to get it ASAP!

Messed Up Again

Posted in: # Ryan Reynolds | 2023 posts | Forty Winks and More | In Zombie Mode | Interest: TV | Netflix | No Mood | Reading

Hello, it's me... someone who didn't sleep last night. *sigh*

I fear that waking at 3am++ has started messing up my sleeping routine again. Why am I so good at not sleeping properly?????

Anyway, surprisingly, I'm making some big progresses at reading "The Difference Engine" (I keep wanna call it "The Difference Machine" lol)... it's a bit easier after those introduction stuff but... it's still boring! I don't even care about the characters. I also don't like the writing style (since there are two authors I don't know which one is it).

Finished watching "Bullet Train" on Netflix. Brad Pitt's character was interesting but it kind of dragged in the middle. I'm glad I decided to finish anyway. Really surprised by that one appearance near the end XD

Q3 of 2022

Posted in: # Ryan Reynolds | 2023 posts | Anime | Digest Post | Interest: TV | Netflix | Reading

Continuation to this post.

JULY
7/1
If it's not obvious enough, I kind of haven't done this recently:
I'll just start any random books but I won't make any commitments about finishing them. I might or might not decide to finish them.

I love the feeling of finishing a book more than starting one... So when I have many unfinished ones, it stresses me out. I might need to think of a way to not make that happen (it might just be finishing what I started, but that's okay).

7/2
Yeah.... haven't read all these books. I have vague reading plans for Eileen Chang's books this year so those are at least in my TBR list (lol). Nakahara Chuya's poems, though... I'm waiting for the right mood to read the book because honestly I'm not a big poem reader. Reading a poem a day is an option too, I guess...

7/17-18
What an aptly titled blog post ("Yabai") this was... I picked three books from the jar. Chose Wyndham's "The Chrysalids" which I loved and gave 5 solid stars to. The other two (that I found interesting at first) I also continued reading after that and didn't enjoy. One was boring and the other I couldn't stand the writing style.

AUGUST
8/4
Ah. E-readers.
Actually... I purchased one on Shopee in the same month~ A kindle paperwhite. Never did an "unboxing" post here because I know it's not going to replace my physical books. It's just going to be an addition. I don't use it heavily though but it's nice to read "Leftover Princess" on it. Also great for reading in between loading screens (or just any time I can steal while playing) of games I play :P
[I also had fun looking for its accessories]

8/28
I think I'm still in that deadly/survival game subgenre phase... though I can't find that many nowadays (at least the one available online legally). I'll be reading "Battle Royale" this year though... so I'm branching out to books under this subgenre~

SEPTEMBER
9/2
My Ryan Reynolds' phase XD? It still exists... although not many of his movies are available on the streaming services I have access to. Haven't finish watching Deadpool movies. Found one horror movie which I haven't watch yet.

9/2
...yeah... not done watching "Ouran" anime yet *sigh*

9/14
Speaking of horror stuff... Just saw a few playthroughs of "Carson House". It was scary good. Somehow got reminded a bit of the movie "Ghostland". Sometimes human can be as scary as the supernatural things :/

9/19
Unfortunately, I haven't done such writing exercise(?) even though I already got some notebooks prepared... Maybe this year???

Try

Posted in: 2023 posts | I Need to be Distracted | Manga | Netflix | No Mood | Reading | Utterly Distracted | Youtube

I think... I'm in a reading slump. Maybe a mild one. Whatever I read don't make sense to me. And it's not only reading, whatever I watch, I get bored after 5 minutes. *sigh* I don't know what I want to do. For now, I'll just go with the mood... if I need to stop after 5 minutes, then I'll stop.

Ahhh it's scary~~~~~

I guess I can try reading some manga for a change...

*sigh* Seems like it hasn't gone back to normal since the thing they started doing yesterday... Not sure if I can do laundry at 3am+ tomorrow.

Haaah

What a great day to make new labels :P

Started watching more movies on Netflix last night... I'm just self-sabotaging my small goal at this point LOL

January's Goals

Posted in: # Call Me By Fire | 2023 posts | Big Goal and Small Goal | blog images | Interest: TV | My Fangirl Side | Netflix | 蘇有朋

Okay... let's get this done before I procrastinate again.

December's
(Very) Big goal:
Wake up early

Small goals:
- Re-organise my bookshelf
-- Finish 31 books in December
-- Post daily in December
Happy to report that big goal is a success again last month (^_^). 26 days~!

As mentioned before, I gave up on my small goal. I just don't care anymore lol

So last month's small goal is uncompleted. I did manage to post daily in December though (it's a miracle! XD) though I won't count that in... I finished 16 books in December, very far from my aim but that's like the highest amount of books I read in a month in 2022. It's not a done small goal but still pretty amazing, for me anyway XD

This month's goals...

As usual -

(Very) Big goal:
Wake up early

Small goal:
Deal with my to-watch/currently watching list

Hah! I chose a fun one this month haha... Unfortunately this one might be a vague one. I don't really have a number to aim. I just want to like clean up my to-watch/currently watching list. To watch (or continue watching) or remove from list. That kind of thing. Only movies though because they're easier to deal with.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

I'm finally at the last episode of "Call Me by Fire" (S2)!!!

I think I have my fill of reality TV shows for now. I'm this close to rolling my eyes in annoyance and saying mean things. I can see from the creators' angle that it's more interesting to do some of the things but... I'm starting to cringe at how gimmicky some of them were. Maybe I'm just being my usual unfeeling self :P

Anyway, on the more positive stuff:
  • Alec's tribe is full of wholesome members~ I can't.. I just love seeing Pakho Chau fanboying over him lol getting closer to him like a vice class monitor. Alec was very strict in the beginning so I'm glad that his tribe members saw beyond that. Loved that he got to recruit Shin and Will Pan... These two are just too funny XD
  • Vanness is... still interesting. He actually has a very lovely and infectious smile. I might check his songs out on Spotify later because man... watching him in the show really improved my impression of him after all these years. Jerry Yan was in the first season but I don't know if I want to go through another season of this *sigh*
  • Finally, a mention of Wuji and Wuji LOL

Keysticks

Posted in: 2022 posts | Interest: Games | Life: Anecdotes | Netflix | Youtube

I've ascended to a new level.

So... I was cleaning the computer desk because my brother has shipped his old(?) monitor from Penang to home. Since it's larger than the one I'm using now, I have to clear most of my stuff on the desk. It's not here yet but knowing me, it's best to do it as early as possible XD

Okay, that's not it. I've been using a game controller to play Filament (and Fall Guys, only recently) and I was thinking maybe I can also use it like a keyboard/mouse...?

Yup, that's what this post is about lol.. I've mapped some of the buttons to keyboard shortcuts that I usually use (I'm using Keysticks) so I can use it in normal, non-game situation (like watching Youtube videos or Netflix). Just small stuff. I have high hopes though XD... it could be life-changing~

Last Straw

Posted in: 2022 posts | Anime | Books | Family | Life: Anecdotes | Manga | Netflix | Reading | Shopping Bag

Went to Suria Sabah in the afternoon. My brother wanted to go there since last week so... I went along because I wanted to check the Popular Bookstore. Understandably, there were quite a lot of people there (since it's public holiday) but I don't think it's as many as the usual weekend crowd...? But then again, we were there late afternoon so maybe most of them had gone home XD

Not much to see at Popular though... Oh but I did see some Higashino books there (but not the newer ones). Did get another horror manga lol...

My brother wanted to buy a new pair of slippers/sandals (he wanted something very specific. It's something like sandals that can easily be converted into slippers) so he went to Skechers. Asked for another size of slippers he was interested in and when she got back - according to my brother, since I didn't witness it myself - the salesperson just threw the slippers at him (I guess she did it very rudely). In the beginning, she was already acting indifferent to him - he can overlook that. But throwing the slippers was the last straw so... he didn't buy anything from there. In the end, he found a pair he liked at Metrojaya.

Oh yeah, also went to eat at Teochew Chendul. Tried their Penang White Curry Mee(hoon) and I think I like it...?

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

So... updates for some stuff.

I've been organising things in my room. Just not the shelf I'm supposed to organise.

LOL

I mean... it happens. You plan to do A but you do Z in the end.
...I still have time though so maybe it can still be done :P

✿

Reading progress is... slow. I'm very invested in "Silent Parade" at this moment so I'm like not reading anything else until this gets finished. The problem is... I procrastinate reading so I'm still not done XD...

✿

Been watching "Romantic Killer" on Netflix recently. Not finished yet but I'm enjoying it so far (it's hilarious!). The otome gaming/dating sim stuff is so relatable because I always see similar stuff in my games.

Haven't caught up with newer episodes of "SPY x FAMILY". I started re-watching from the beginning again on Netflix and... you guessed it... I barely make any progress with it.

Posted in: 2022 posts | Interest: TV | My Fangirl Side | Netflix

I actually finished watching two movies on TV/Netflix today.

First was "New Kung Fu Cult Master 1" which I quite enjoyed (but again, I've always loved Zhang Wuji's story so I'm biased...). Anyway, it amused me greatly that Wuji is portrayed by Raymond Lam while his father is portrayed by Louis Ku. Have always thought they look kind of similar so seeing them acting as father and son feels right for some reason XD. I'm not familiar with all adaptations of YTTLJ but I love noticing stuff from other YTTLJ adaptations in the newer ones. This one has the same actor for Xie Xun from the 2003. Also, did I hear Emil Chau's song (from 1994's adaptation, also as theme in 2019's) in the background???

Second one was "Morbius". Kind of liked it...? Gave it a thumbs up on Netflix. I don't get the hate it got months ago (I don't even get what the meme means lol but that's kind of funny). Weirdly, the minute this ended (including the post-credit scene), the TV started doing its flickering problem XD *that's kind of you to wait for the movie to end loool*

Tiring Saturday

Posted in: 2022 posts | Interest: TV | Netflix | On This Day | Online Shopping | Reading

Did a little... cleaning(?) today. Now I'm so tired (oh backache! XD).. I want to lie on the floor and stare at the ceiling lol.

Recently watched "Cabinet of Curiosities" on Netflix with my sister. It was good... except the last two episodes (it was very underwhelming. Imagine looking forward to the episodes to release the next day and then you get that?) . Okay, I guess the one with the birds was still okay but we were really bored with Episode 7.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Going to make this an On This Day post! Only one post from last year though lol
Finished "The Lathe of Heaven" today. I... like the writing style.
Oh. It was when I got interested in Ursula K. Le Guin's writing style~

Speaking of writing styles... I realised I may not be a fan of Kurt Vonnegut's writing style. Also, recently I finished "Love in the Time of Cholera". Can't really say that I enjoy the story. Lovesickness aside, the book has some weird ideas on rape (I was cringing hard when they happen/are mentioned and nothing proper was acknowledged afterwards). I do kind of like the writing style though. The way he described an.. intimate scene was really interesting. I thought it was beautiful.

This prompted me to go look for her other books on BBW Shopee. Found books I don't have.
I did this again recently. It was Angela Carter. A very risky move because I don't even know if I'll like her writing style. I guess I would have to start one of her books when the package arrives...

Not sure if I'm going to finish another book today... but I can try.
I don't think I'll try to finish one today lol. I've started using reading schedules for both "The Ogre Downstairs" and "The Sirens of Titan". Had to, because I want to finish them.

Horror talk again

Posted in: 2022 posts | Family | Interest: TV | Netflix | The Weather Looks...

Rainy afternoon. With strong wind.

Started binge-watching "3 A.M. Bangkok Ghost Stories" series with my sister. I saw the movie anthology version ones before... this series version seems like a breakdown (into episodes) of that and some stories I don't remember watching. It's still good as I remembered! I've always loved the plot twists in the movies.

So... I mentioned watching less horror stuff but that didn't really happen :P

I made a jar for those movies (just the alphabets and numbers) so it has been quite fun discovering nice horror movies with my sister. Also got my "obsession" for deadly/survival games movies from getting "X" from the jar. Still crazy about this sub-genre. Last I watched that I enjoyed were the Escape Room movies.. reminded me a bit of those Cube movies (ahhh I also want to re-watch those/watch the newer ones).

I think I got used to watching horror movies/TV series from watching people play horror games on Youtube. So... I guess it doesn't only apply to those who play them? Even those who regularly watch those gameplays can become "immune" to horror movies...?

Anyway.. I also like mystery/thriller movies so I've been trying to watch those in between horror movies to make it balanced.

I feel like I'm forgetting something...

It's not raining now... but it rained so hard few hours ago. It sounded bad. Hope tomorrow will be a sunny day.

Been watching a few anime on Netflix recently. "Ouran Koukou Host Club" is finally available here! Never watched it before but I've read the manga. Also randomly decided to watch "The Vampire Dies in No Time"...which ended up kind of fun - great banters and tsukkomi... and there's an armadillo named John. Cute armadillo XD
