Savior's BOOKCAFE Story in Another world

Posted in: 2021 posts | blog images | Manga | This Made My Day

Woke up early.
Stayed in bed because I found a new manga to read :P

I was just exploring things on Ameba.jp and saw that they have some manga (I think it's free to view for a limited time? First volume..)... I randomly checked one out and it was fun! The translated title is "The Savior's Book Cafe Story in Another World" (official title used for English version; The one I used in my post title is the subtitle used for the Japanese version). It seems there's going to be an English release for the manga soon. The story reminds me of "The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent" but still different. Like Sei, she's also mature and gifted in magic (since she uses it diligently). The other saviour that was also close to the country's prince was a total opposite though. I disliked this one because she's just a spoilt brat that doesn't want to do any saviour-related work.

The female and male lead are both book lovers! So that's kind of cool seeing them connect to each other through her book cafe. Have I mentioned that he has black (or dark) hair? XD

Haaaah... I want to read it again.

My Fair Princess Haunts Me Again

Posted in: # My Fair Princess | 2021 posts | blog images | Books | My Fangirl Side | Online Shopping Bag | Qiong Yao 瓊瑤 | This Made My Day | 蘇有朋

Past fandoms will haunt you forever!

It (the box)... they (the books) arrived today!

HZGG PART 2 NOVELS~~~~~
AKA Huan Zhu Ge Ge. My Fair Princess. Princess Returning Pearl(?).

This is the thing I found on Carousell recently. So lucky that I found the exact version I wanted (the one with the casts on the covers). This is the ones I asked my sister to borrow from the school library for me to read lol. They are in better condition than the school library's though (fortunately!) which is understandable. I was the school librarian before and I noticed it getting borrowed pretty often (very popular item). I wasn't brave enough to borrow at that time because I was embarrassed if people ask if I can even read it. Since I learnt to read Chinese informally (and haphazardly), I've always feel like I don't know enough or something. I guess it's something like inferiority complex kind of thing?

ANYWAY. Back to present. Yeah. Never thought I'll be able to own these today. I'm so happy~

Does this mean I'll start reading them again soon?

OH HECK NO.
It's so loooong and emotionally-draining.

I don't have the complete set of Part 1. I do have the option to buy the ebook version on Google Play but honestly, I prefer a physical version. The seller on Carousell do have the Part 1 but it's in Simplified Chinese. You can see that from the title on the cover - It's 还珠格格 instead of 還珠格格. Sometimes there are reading materials with Traditional's in the cover but the content is entirely in Simplified form. But I'm pretty sure about this one being in Simplified Chinese (because I saw the same one at the local library years ago).

aklsfjalfjkssfakf *speechless*

I almost want to watch the series again lol

☑ I'm not a robot

Posted in: # Mass Effect | 2021 posts | I Just Woke Up | Quotes | This Made My Day

“Does this unit have a soul?”
- Legion, Mass Effect 3

Random thought of the day.

I love it when I reread old posts and the voice that comes out in my mind is a robotic voice. Sometimes I wonder if people think the e-mails I sent them are made by a robot. The thought pleases my trolling side me. Also, it reminds me of that INTJ vs INTP thing.

I do sympathise with a lot of robot/cyborg/half-robot/AI/anything-similar characters in movies and games (Legion!). I admire some of them (GLaDOS... ah now I feel like replaying Portal). Like, "ugly crying" sympathise with them. I almost can't watch movies with such themes just like me with animal-themed movies (I don't hate them but I know they'll make me cry at some point so NO I don't want to watch them, if possible). Seeing sentient robots get destroyed makes me cry.

I'm very happy that they brought the anime voice actors back to make a voice drama (basically videos with scenes from the manga accompanied with voices). And they did the elevator scene (YAY!) and the scene after that (YAY YAY!). I'm trying not to spoil so if you read until those scenes, you know what I'm talking about.

...and why am I fangirling over SB here? Because this is the highlight of my day today. Since I'm blogging daily anyway so why not talk about this today?

【 Gardening 】
You've heard the stories. The stuff people do during MCO, quarantine, isolation, lockdown etc... I didn't think I experience THAT much changes compared to last year but I confess.. I got bitten by the gardening bug this year haha. I don't consider myself a follower of fads but when I do, I get into it so bad. Now I seek for TV shows that feature plants and gardening and manga with gardening theme.. and I started getting interested in creating botanical paintings (which is fine with my being into art recently but still...)..

Actually, it's not really new to me because I grew catnip for my cats in 2017-18. They are still alive - one flowered twice this year - although I recently pruned them to like 1/3 of their original size. I also still have my aloe vera that was purchased in 2017 at the Asia City tamu. It almost died (along with my rosemary, who didn't make it RIP) but in the end it survived and gives me aloe vera babies (they are so cute!) since then. Probably have to move some of them to their own pots because they are getting cramped again in their pot.

I feel like I should include some photos at this point... but I'm quite nervous because I might jinx it. Maybe in the future?

Anyway, so yeah... gardening bug... now I'm browsing for seeds online instead of books and stationery (yay?) but seeds can be expensive too because of the shipping fees. Why seeds you ask? Because it's cheaper.. and I seldom go out anymore (hah!).. uhh.. Also, I'm interested in plants that might not be available in nurseries. I get seeds for fruits/vegetables that I want to eat, plants with blue/purple flowers (it's oddly specific but yeah), & aromatic/fragrant plants... I'm also interested in weird-looking ones.. and most succulents fall under this haha (want to get some lithops in the future).

【 Anime 】
I've been watching more anime recently and one of it is "A Destructive God Sits Next to Me". The anime is so chaotic!!  ...but honestly, it's just the kind of thing I'm into *almost makes me wonder why I took so long to watch it haha*. As I watched more episodes, I find myself relating so much to one of the characters, Tsukimiya, that I had to check if he's an xNTP.. I found one site that says he's an ENTP.. which just makes me smile..er..laugh more. No wonder!

I also re-watched the first 3 seasons of Natsume Yuujinchou and now catching up with the latest seasons that I haven't watched. Got reminded again how much I love the manga...

【 Youtube 】
Saw some "Fall Guys" playthrough recently and it made me want to play too! It's so weird how fast I got interested in it (apparently I skipped some of Pocky Sweets' videos of him playing it.. lol).. I'm already planning on buying it soon. I'll just tell myself it's a birthday present for me haha

A Glimpse of the Past & More Books

Posted in: 2020 posts | blog images | Books | My Fangirl Side | Online Shopping | Online Shopping Bag | This Made My Day

From the past (May 1st)...

I just had a glimpse of my old self. My old teenage self. Oh gosh.

So.. I just checked my e-mail and saw one from the person I'm buying from on Youbeli (mentioned in a previous post). They wanted to confirm if I still want to use the same address to ship the books. At first, I was overjoyed because hey~ they managed to procure the books (I'm guessing they get it via Taiwan?) #OMG... then I became mildly panicked. The e-mail is written in Chinese. It doesn't matter. I can read it.. and I can use GTranslate to confirm that I read it correctly BUT... it reminded me a lot of when I was still an avid fan of Alec Su, it was quite scary!

I've mentioned before that I learnt to read Chinese via the unusual route (sometimes using haphazard methods). During that time, I purchased a lot of Chinese magazines to find information (mostly photos lol) on Alec Su. That experience gave me some kind of complex regarding using the language in.. erm.. business situation? For example, I would be so afraid to buy Chinese magazines and books at local shops because they might talk to me in Chinese.. I guess I still have a bit of that now. I know I've managed it better in the recent years but whoa.. never thought I'll replying to an e-mail in Chinese today.

It's not really a big deal haha... Since I'm in my zombie mode in the morning, I kept it short and simple. Fortunately my brain was still capable of reminding me that. Just something like 'as long as the message got through', you know? I don't even want to know anymore if I used weird vocab because urgghh... Probably sound like a robot but who cares anymore! They already e-mailed back that they'll mail them later... I think.. I don't want to open my e-mail too long... Of course..

Today...
My previous post was on April 25th - so exactly a month later? *oops*

I actually received the books on May 11th. I knew it would take a long time (their estimation was 4-6 weeks but was informed later it would be longer. Also, it's before MCO took place).

And yes. They're the same books I posted about in the previous post. The only difference is, these are in Traditional Chinese. Why, you ask? Because the other is how it was originally published and the other is the one... I can *self-proclaimed* read better in. Just call me a crazy fan if you want.

Also received these... My 2nd purchase from Gempak Starz!
Girlish Number light novels (MY) and Summer Wars manga (EN)

Online Book Shopper

Posted in: 2019 posts | Books | NaBloPoMo | Online Shopping | This Made My Day

Something interesting happened today. I mentioned before that I purchased some books via Lazada (BookXcess Online). They contacted me through Whatsapp today to inform me that the Frankenstein book was not in good condition and asked me to cancel that particular book (it was their last copy). I asked if it's still readable (because they mention it being torn) and yes it is. Then I told them to ship it together with the rest of my order because I'm fine with it.

The conversation made my day. I think it was nice of them to do so! I actually had similar experience before when I purchased via Kinokuniya online. The books I ordered had bent covers (if I remember correctly) and they e-mailed me to ask if I was okay with it. This might just be me but when they pay attention to small details like this I feel kind of touched by their consideration for their customers. In both situations, I accepted the books even though they have flaws. This coming from someone who will always try to pick books with the least flaws in physical book stores haha.. I guess I'm lenient towards online book stores...? (ノ'∀`*). I don't really have any noble reasons for accepting them.. I just want to read the book.

What will you do if you're in the same situation? Will you accept the book and its flaws?
