Oh?

These arrived today. Books from BookXcess (that I mentioned recently).

Death Notice - Kind of a random find...
The Borrowed - The book that I said was the last copy.
Jane in Love - It features Jane Austen travelling into the future :P

I'd been wondering if there are any translated Chinese mystery & thriller books out there last year so "The Borrowed" was among the ones I found. Got lucky with finding "Death Notice" around the same time.

Finally finished the whole thing~ So I ended up watching everything because Nicholas Teo stayed until the end lol (and he's part of the 3rd generation family, congrats!)

Anyway, I found separate videos for the performances I couldn't listen to (finally got to listen to the song that featured him!) from CMBF Youtube channel... interestingly, I can watch them...? I probably should watch them at least once before they get geo-blocked...

I'm still in the middle of watching the final episode of CMBF... ahhhh I feel like crying (T_T) because I couldn't listen to most of the songs they performed (especially one song that featured Nicholas Teo *sobs*)... probably copyright (& broadcasting) rights again??? So weird to hear they sing without music... Usually the performances just got cut or muted but this time it's the voice-only variant..for some reason it's more annoying seeing that (especially after seeing how much efforts were put into erasing the music parts... Of course, I understand why they had to do that but surely I can still be annoyed about it!)

Haaah... Today I'm grateful that I can at least listen to all songs in Season 2's final episode *so sad*

So this arrived today. It's one of the two packages I purchased from the seller in the same day XD

Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China

Been wanting to get this one for some time already. I did see some preloved versions come [and go - lost my chance to buy it lol] on Shopee but now I'm glad I waited(?). I found a paperback version and it's in very good condition!

The other package will probably arrive tomorrow.

Woke up with a mild fever again today. Some dry coughs. Still can't smell things much XD... though some food like chilli peppers seem to be strong enough to trigger some sort of faint scent. It's weird. I know something is there but I don't smell anything.

House of Suns - SciFi. Haven't read anything from Alastair Reynolds yet so this is kind of a risky choice lol... well at least I got it for cheap~
The Deadly Fire - Last book in Fear Street: The Cataluna Chronicles series. Yes, I think I'll start looking out for Fear Street books on Shopee :P

Yeah... just saw the trailer just now.... why does it makes me want to reread the light novels again...???

CMBF #8

Finished watching both parts today. Ah... I love the final song ("第一次做人") that was performed by Nicky Lee, Zhang Yuan & Derek Ma. It was such an emotional performance that I also cried a bit... Also, men that shed tears are beautiful~!😊😭 A well-deserved high score!

Anyway, watching the performances before them reminded me again how hard work doesn't always give what you aim for. No guarantee you'll get what you want. Of course, that doesn't mean you should stop... and I guess it's fine if you think you deserve to get them because you worked hard for it but sometimes it just don't go smoothly.

Some thoughts today~

CMBF #6

Just finished watching both parts of #6. Loved the performances in this episode! Quite amused by Nicholas Teo having a hard time doing an evil smile/laugh for his tribe's song ("Joker")... & their stage concept was really fun (I love the circus theme)! Had goosebumps watching them - I think they deserve their win.

...aaah I guess it's time to make my own Youtube playlist for my favourite performances on "Call Me By Fire" so that I can play them easily in the future~

Anime

Fall season for anime has started (including "The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent" S2!). I think I'm not going to [hopefully] follow many from the beginning... maybe only the familiar ones (I guess it's better that way since I need to re-watch the previous season of some of them...). I'll wait maybe five episodes before deciding to watch any new ones.

Reading

I might try to finish "The Homeward Bounders" tomorrow. Haaah... haven't decide what to read after that.

Some "cleaning"
This will be pretty gross to talk about but I really want to mention it here. We have been having frequent visits by a couple of cats recently (one stray cat, one neighbour's "lost" cat)... and the stray one was being weird! He brought a dead rat and a dead bird and left them in front of the entrance. Gah. Had to dispose them today ASAP before they rot more because I don't want to deal with the dead carcass smell in the future (ahhh I can already imagine the smell......). I guess they're pretty recent because I was still able to be near them [to pick them up].

Took me some time to finish both parts. Kind of sad that I can't watch certain performances (due to copyright issues I guess). Anyway.. dunno why I'm not vibing with this new season, the performances were interesting but... something is missing...?

Been watching Episode 2 of "Call Me by Fire" (S3)... I just love having Shin again in this season, he's so chaotic! And it's so weird fun seeing him all excited(?) about dancing even though he wanted to avoid it at all costs in S2 lol.

There's one scene in the beginning where the director(?) asked him:

D: Did you grow this time?
S: I've grown a lot. I can't let the previous brothers lose face.
D: But I didn't expect when you grow up and you've been Alec Su
S: Really? But I wanna surpass him

Maybe it's just me but I'm seeing Alec Su vibes (that late meeting!) in the meeting he had with his tribe so I think he has the potential to surpass him :P

Sad

My weekend kind of ended up with sad... stories. Lol. It's not really the angsty, tragic kind. Just.. sad.

Good(?) news is I've caught up with most of the anime I'm watching this season! The one anime series I kept postponing to watch was "The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior". Just because I wanted to finish reading the manga first... I heard the manga is cancelled so now I'm still contemplating whether I'm going to read the web novel later or not. Yeah... this one is so good! I consider this one of the sad stories though. With all the flashbacks, I just feel like the story is haunted by sadness or something. It's happy and hopeful for now... but it has a sad vibe when you compare new scenes to the original [timeline] story.

I also started watching S3 of "Call Me by Fire" (here)... Noticed many artistes from Taiwan for some reason. Interesting.

Had a bad dream again. I really don't like that! Why do I keep getting them recently???

Oh yeah, I just read (saw) that Nicholas Teo is in the latest season of "Call Me by Fire"! Like.. I did kind of hope he'll be in the future season(s) after I watched S2, and then there he is! I wondered why they don't have Malaysians in the past seasons so it made me a bit happy to see there're two this time - Nicholas Teo and Victor Wong. *sigh* I don't even know if I can watch the whole thing on Youtube but I'll try... to search around there. ~~And by "whole thing", I probably mean only until he's not there...~~

1 // The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague

I think this is my favourite anime for this season. It's so cosy and chill XD

2 // Bofuri Season 2

I'm still watching this anime but... I find it tiring recently. I pretty much put it on 2x speed on Youtube. Surprisingly, it's not as bad as "Talentless Nana" & "So I'm a Spider, So What?"... I just don't think the theme is interesting anymore, it's pretty much predictable at this point.

3 // Hogwarts Legacy

Amazingly, since I don't follow the book series/fandom related to it, I find this game interesting...? Currently, I'm watching two playthroughs on Youtube... the gameplay looks fun so far.

4 // Monitor Stand

Last week, I finally use the monitor stand for the not-so-new-anymore monitor (got one under RM20 on Shopee lol). I think this will help lessen the neck pain thing I've been experiencing few weeks ago. I haven't tried playing Mass Effect multiplayer since then though... XD

5 // Mass Effect Weekend

Speaking of the game, I've been thinking... maybe I should make a weekly blog post of my Mass Effect playthrough? Just thought it might help with getting me continue my ME2 insanity playthrough...

6 // Organised Drawers

Did some organising for drawers in the kitchen today. It's actually nice to see organised. Maybe I do like that kind of thing. I just don't do it often because I don't like seeing they get disorganised again later. What's the point?

7 // "What's the point of cleaning if it just gets messy again?"

I kind of have this phrase stuck in my head whenever I'm unmotivated to clean up stuff but... it is, sometimes, important. If everything is in order, I don't lose things... and my things don't fall ~~and break~~ on the floor.

8 // Reading

It has been slow reading for me again lately. Sometimes it's not because I'm unmotivated... it's hard to read when you feel itchy or have blurry visions.

9 // Brave New World

I've been recalling this one song performed on "Call Me by Fire" (S2) recently... fortunately I remembered vaguely which song it was. Almost thought I would go to sleep with no answers XD

10 // Tumblr followers

I've been getting "new" followers on Tumblr recently... pretty sure most, if not all, of them are spam accounts. Don't really get why it's happening now. I mean, I kind of get it, but still don't get it at the same time.

11 // Distracted

Nothing new here but I feel like I get/got distracted more these past few days. It was pretty bad when I was window-shopping on Shopee :P

12 // Dead Space Remake

It's funny how I can't watch any playthroughs for this because... I'm actually in the middle of playing the original version. Me, playing a horror game??? XD

It's like the ultimate test for me who has gotten used to horror stuff :P

Anyway, progress has been slow so I guess I won't be watching any playthroughs for at least a decade haha

I wonder if I can wake up very early again after so many days not doing so XD

Bad Luck

I feel like I've been having a string of bad luck these few days. I probably shouldn't have cleaned my room that day. Probably shouldn't have drunk a carton of milk yesterday.

Funnily (or rather, ironically?), reading has been fun again so I guess things balance out in the end...?

On a lighter note, I'm being haunted by Pakho Chau's expressions in their (the Su Tribe's) performances for "Huo Yuanjia" (the beginning) and "Xiu Shou Pang Guan" (X-part) on "Call Me by Fire" (I'm also considering "Kuang Liu" but I don't know which part I want to draw lol)... so I need to draw them down so that he can stop haunting me XD

[Regardless of whether I'm capable of doing it, I'm still going to do it :P]

January's Goals

Okay... let's get this done before I procrastinate again.

December's

Happy to report that big goal is a success again last month (^_^). 26 days~!

As mentioned before, I gave up on my small goal. I just don't care anymore lol

So last month's small goal is uncompleted. I did manage to post daily in December though (it's a miracle! XD) though I won't count that in... I finished 16 books in December, very far from my aim but that's like the highest amount of books I read in a month in 2022. It's not a done small goal but still pretty amazing, for me anyway XD

Hah! I chose a fun one this month haha... Unfortunately this one might be a vague one. I don't really have a number to aim. I just want to like clean up my to-watch/currently watching list. I'm finally at the last episode of "Call Me by Fire" (S2)!!!

I think I have my fill of reality TV shows for now. I'm this close to rolling my eyes in annoyance and saying mean things. I can see from the creators' angle that it's more interesting to do some of the things but... I'm starting to cringe at how gimmicky some of them were. Maybe I'm just being my usual unfeeling self :P

Anyway, on the more positive stuff:

Alec's tribe is full of wholesome members~ I can't.. I just love seeing Pakho Chau ~~fanboying over him lol~~ getting closer to him like a vice class monitor. Alec was very strict in the beginning so I'm glad that his tribe members saw beyond that. Loved that he got to recruit Shin and Will Pan... These two are just too funny XD
Vanness is... still interesting. He actually has a very lovely and infectious smile. I might check his songs out on Spotify later because man... watching him in the show really improved my impression of him after all these years. Jerry Yan was in the first season but I don't know if I want to go through another season of this *sigh*

Full Stop.

I've decided. I'm leaving my small goal from last month uncompleted.

Yeah... I just did one shelf (or sub-shelf? It's like the one I posted before) and I realised I don't want to do it anymore XD. In the spirit of wanting to do more DNFs this year (though it will be less about books haha), I'm not going reorganise my bookshelf (for now). I'll do it when I want to.

Some updates:

"Innocence" - one more week before I pick a new book. As of now, I barely made any progress XD. Didn't even reach page 100~ *sigh*
"Call Me by Fire" (S2) - currently at second part of #7.
Anime - Just saw the first episode of "The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague".... loved it! It's a pretty chill anime. Haven't seen a female character like that for so long (at least the main character ones). And Iruma~~~ the recent episode was so good, I need to re-watch it again!
Super Bunny Man - Finished watching PockySweet's playthrough with his friend yesterday. Lol I guess this isn't really an update but I just want to talk about this game. It's super hilarious! I don't even know why, maybe it's the unpredictability? I've seen several by other youtubers and I always laughed out loud. And this one playthrough which was from his recent stream... it's a total gem! I laughed too much from this XD

More "Call Me by Fire" S2 stuff hehe...

So who keeps re-watching Alec Su's ~~group~~ tribe performance for "Huo Yuanjia" today??? Yes, me! LOL

Just started the fourth episode. Loved the fact that two people who acted as Zhang Wuji before are finally in the same ~~group~~ tribe.

...I'm going to enjoy seeing their interactions from afar which are surprisingly (or not) very wholesome! [This coming from someone who never watched the first season, or the sister show]. Quite surprised to see how positive Vanness Wu is. Also, some of the musicians that joined the show were very interesting, personality-wise. And nice voices! Been listening to some of them on Spotify recently.

OOOOH okay I guess that's for one performance (or a few more later?)... the audio is back when it's the next person's turn. I watched it around 3am so I probably wasn't in the right mind(?) lol. Didn't even think of fast-forwarding the video. I guess I'm back to watching...?

Feeling much better today.

Couldn't sleep last night due to pain that comes and goes so I ended up - nope, you probably can't guess it - "revisited" my old fandom. Lol. I just saw months-old news of Alec Su being on a reality show called "Call Me by Fire" (2nd season). It's available on Youtube so... I'm watching it now.

Almost at the end of "Seventeen", like 20 pages or so... might finish it tonight or midnight.
