A No-Sleep Post in November

Here I am again.

Uh-huh. No water supply during the weekend (back to normal today). Had to take a raven's bath yesterday (either that or no bath at all lol).

Received a book in the mail last Nov 13th. Hanna Alkaf's "The Hysterical Girls of St. Bernadette's". It is kind of... a compulsive purchase so I'll try to read it as soon as possible :P

2.8 Main Story

It's okay, I guess. Very reminiscent of Phrolova's patch and Cantarella's companion quest combined. Quite fanservicy, in my opinion, but for Chisa fans and surprisingly, anime fans..? It's a bit of a me problem: I just recently recovered from my anime-watching slump so I'm still kind of sensitive to things that could bring me back to the slump (T_T).

BUT we get some Rover lore in the end so I'm very satisfied! I can't wait to get to the next area (Lahai-Roi)!

Convene

Wasn't planning to pull for Chisa but I find her gameplay quite fun so I decided to go for it. Unfortunately, I got another copy of Jianxin (now she's S2)... & I'm fine with this result. Next time!

*gosh my wishlist just gets longer and longer lol*

I'm going to keep the guarantee for Phrolova~

My backup-speedrun account got her (guaranteed) but in the same 10-pull, I managed to also lose my 50/50... so I guess it's another guarantee for whatever future banner I will pull. I decided to get her for this account because I wasn't confident that my Fenn account will be able to. I was proven wrong lol because that account won the 50/50 lol... Good thing is I think I can do the 2.8 main stories without finishing Rinascita's...? (haven't tried it yet though) So I should be able to level her up to Level 90.

July's Hiccups

I'm here again to complain~

Shopee

Tried using the "Same Day Delivery" shipping option on Shopee some time ago... and I should've guessed it, but it's actually just ShopeeFood rider getting your stuff and delivering them to you. Which is a fine alternative really but the problem is I never used ShopeeFood before so apparently the address they see(?) is different from the shipping address I always use? You have to pin and point on a map and adjust as needed. "Okay, fine, I'll just do this one time" was what I thought at that time but today I realised editing that somehow(?!) affected my shipping address...??? Why the heck would that happen??? It's a miracle that my stuff actually arrived! Usually, the delivery people always complain the address doesn't exist at the postcode region they went to. I edited the shipping address again but I have a feeling if I use the same day option again the same thing will happen again😑

Weather

Unfortunately, it's just like my post in May. I always find myself waking up with sweaty shirt. There were rainy and windy days, sure, but very few.

Water

I guess this one complaint is the only one that ends happily (for now?). Early to mid July (ooh there's a post), there were days we either get low pressure water or no water at all. And then last week, the water suddenly have higher pressure than the usual. We don't even have to use the water tank during the day. Then I saw from Reddit (lol) that it's most probably because we're finally getting more water... which explains the whole disruptions we've been having this month. We are actually lucky though. Some places have it worse, their water is muddy...

Bonus: WuWa Spoilers and Cat Stuff

Barely started the new main story quest so I'm trying to avoid seeing spoilers on Reddit & Youtube. I was trying to get into the story last night but our cat decided to climb on the roof (second floor level, not the top) and couldn't get down. He was coaxed down several times from below/top of ladder but he still refused to go down. Like, seriously... had to go through the mess in my room to get him in through my room windows. I very much dislike this method because my room windows I basically off-limits for years... I haven't open them much because they are hard to open and I don't want cats in my room because I get the itches. Which was what I exactly get from last night. Oooof... so obviously, I'm still annoyed even after waking up today. Doesn't help that today is hot and hazy... Cat is currently not allowed to go outside anymore because what's the point if you're just going to get "locked out" at awkward heights?

Yesterday's Post

This is a post I was supposed to publish yesterday XD

We had a water shortage since Sunday & when the water is finally back, it's the usual low pressure problem again...so that's another night of slow-flowing water. It only came back to normal today *long sigh*

Strange Houses - Yep matching(?) UK covers with "Strange Pictures" :D.. Unfortunately, sometimes I get "stubborn" about getting book covers like this *sigh*

I mean... I guess the US covers are fine too but I just prefer the UK ones...

Brant New Day

A pretty much Zombie-mode day (honestly, when is it not? :P)

Very excited for Brant's release today... wait, I just realise there'll be three posts today lol (and I pretty much talked about Brant in all of them haha)

It's Brant's day today but it's also the day our water tank got an overdue fix-up/maintenance. Which means, there'll be no water supply available in the kitchen area for at least 3 days. Fortunately, the tank upstairs is not affected.

Something I forgot to post about weeks ago: On February 14th, I received the 3rd volume of the light novel "If the Villainess and Villain Met and Fell in Love" in the mail.

There are other factors but I haven't been posting much here because currently the keyboard I'm using is kind of broken. There are certain keys that don't work when pressed. I'm using a backup, compact keyboard but I miss using the numpad area lol.

The keys that won't work are pretty important:

These
Right button
The 0 and . on the numpad
A special button that acts as a toggle to access the volume and brightness option

Surprisingly it doesn't really affect much everyday use (internet surfing and playing games) but typing out an entire blog post becomes more challenging. I like to type out fast so not having easy access to commas and fullstops isn't fun :( I did remap some of them for short sentence use but as expected, it's very inconvenient. It's pretty crazy typing this post with two keyboards side by side lol

Another No-water Friday

Some life updates. Which isn't much lol... Early this week I was feverish for a few days, I think that's like the longest I was sick with fever since 2020 (or 2019?). It was also hard to sleep properly because my nose was so congested that it was hard to breathe through the nose when lying down. I'm feeling much better now (since yesterday actually).

Unfortunately, we haven't been getting water since last night. Their notices section wasn't updated (as usual?) since August although they did post the notices on their Facebook page. I'm not seeing anything related our address though... there are some places mentioned nearby which might affected us too. I hope it won't be a long one like last time.

I guess this means I'm over(?) my trauma(?) with Level 120 Lightcrusher? Because how could I've defeated him on my first try in my Fenn account???

FIRST TRY??!?! LOOOL

It's also another proof that I've grown so much in my WuWa journey(?)...

I think it's partly because I have Baizhi in my team...? And also because I have Xiangli Yao. He's like, I don't know why, but I feel confident using him to fight certain enemies (like Lumiscale Construct)... I wonder if it feels the same with the other resonators that use gauntlets hmmm. Anyway, Yao was dead at one point and Baizhi instantly brought him back to life lol. Totally was just near that place doing my daily quest and thought "Let's just try it once" XD...

Very Sleepy

The water is back! Finally!

Actually... I think it's back since yesterday but for some reason the water pressure wasn't strong enough to refill the water tank upstairs.

Honestly, I was so stressed out I had restless sleep these three days. Got so sleepy last night (probably due to that) and slept like a log through the night.

These books arrived today.

I'll admit that they were the result of stress-shopping two days ago XD. It really went "F*ck it, I'm doing this." In my defence though, they are in my want-to-read list soooo.... at least they're not chosen randomly. Shipping was so expensive (T_T)... but worth it - still worth the price when you add shipping (divided by two) for each book since...

...it's more than double the BX price (+shipping) on Amazon SG:

The shipping fee was RM20, somewhat unavoidable because shipping to Sabah has always been like that (to be honest though, it's more reasonable nowadays.. it was at least over RM30 using DHL 10-20 years ago).

The books:

We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story - I'm kind of a fan of Simu Liu after watching "Shang-Chi". Got curious about his life story (those stock photos surprised me!) so I've wanted to read it since two years ago.

(also, oh look at that price! Almost the same price as the hardcover version I have now)

Lol just realised Ryan Reynolds did a blurb for the book

The Complete Alien Collection: The Shadow Archive - It's 3-books-in-1! (Out of the Shadows, Sea of Sorrows, River of Pain). I'm a bit worried seeing one of the author's name now though (he wrote the movie novelization of "Kong: Skull Island" which I gave 1 star to... but that's probably because I also dislike the movie). I'm really hoping my love for the Alien series will be enough to survive reading these three books~ Might do a re-watch of the movies first before reading (because I need to get into the mood lol)

I'll go by chronological order this time - which means I'll start with "Prey" first and end with Alien movies. What fun! The mediocre ones are in the middle so thank god for that....

July’s Rainy Tuesday

On this day... I posted thrice in the past on July 2nd: 2021, 2022 and 2023.

2021

It was raining heavily when I woke up in the morning at a quarter to nine.

What a coincidence. We've been having that more lately. It was also raining heavily today :(

And that annoyed me today because that's probably the reason we're not getting water supply again... the Water Department haven't been updating their notices but I suspect it's due to muddy/murky(?) water because that's what usually happen when we have too much rain. ~~I hope they'll give their official excuses soon so that I can curse [them] properly in my mind.~~
Edit 7/3: There's still no updates to the notices section (honestly, I think they gave up since it hasn't been updated since May) but their news(?) section did mention the Kasigui water treatment plant (it's closed/under maintenance due to flood). *long sigh* Our area isn't in Penampang but we're near so I guess we're also affected by this... it can't be helped then 😶

2022

A post about books I received around that time. Among those books, I've only finished reading "The Poems of Nakahara Chuya" :P (and "Jane Eyre" of course, although I haven't reread it)

2023

Not going to pick a new book from the jar today. I'm pretty much still in a [physical books] reading slump so I'm going to make it easy for myself.

Oh my... that was the month I started having that reading slump lol

What's the status today, you ask?

As I said before, it's pretty much just mood reading nowadays :P. I'm learning to accept that I'm not reading like when I was younger. I'm also thinking of doing more "irresponsible" reading... which I imagine would be 'start many books, finish few'...? It's how I've been reading my manga/manhwa currently. I don't even care if it's an ongoing series, I can just read something else before I return to that series.

Also just realised that I do DNF books, only not books I've purchased (if I do, I do it reluctantly)... *sigh* but I will still consider myself someone who rarely DNF books because I rather hate-read.

Anyway, I'm kind of a pessimistic reader at this moment. I question almost all books (especially the popular ones and/or regularly covered by booktubers) whether they are good because I don't feel hopeful.

Less Water

*sigh* We're having water supply problems again... although that's not really new at this point. I guess it's just more noticeable recently (apparently there's maintenance stuff happening so)... it's mildly annoying because it's unpredictable. Oh well.

Anyway, currently I'm attempting to finish reading "Battle Royale" and I find it surprisingly easy to read...? And the chapters are pretty short (except for some that include back stories). Although as usual, I'm bad with remembering characters XD... seriously, there are too many characters (*sigh* understandable) but I don't think it really matters? Just focus on the few main ones because the others are just going to die anyway (unfortunately). For this book, I'm actually glad that I saw the movie first before reading because it's easier to imagine the scenes... I am also very interested in the worldbuilding which is more detailed in the book.

2021

Oh, it's that post.

While watching a video on Youtube yesterday, I stumbled upon a comment that mentioned a site that talks about influencers (I think. Didn't look around much.. just the youtuber part).

I barely remember what that was about anymore... which is good(?).

It's a mistake I don't wish to repeat again.

Yeah... I don't want to feel the same thing again so I'll run whenever I'm near such websites. There's reddit though... but I haven't been scrolling endlessly there recently so I'm good (for now).

2022

Wow, I really don't miss that at all!

Of course, you don't have to do laundry everyday but when I do manage to wake up early, it's Zombie mode for at the next two days.

The water pressure is still unstable now. There are good days, and there are bad days. Fortunately, I'm not really affected by that regarding doing laundry since I use the manual way to fill the washing machine with water (from the tank, when it's one of the bad days). It is better than last year but they can do even better, I think.

...ah I do still have sleeping problems, which are encouraged by other problems, but let's not talk about that today :P

Finished "The Mill House Murders" today. It was surprisingly easy to read. Most of my guesses are correct (including the plot twist!) but it's still fun to read how they happened. One of the relationships made me feel a bit uncomfortable though. It sounded yandere-ish to me so it's kind of disturbing that it's just mentioned casually. That's probably why I took longer to finish reading the book.

Had a bizarre dream that I prefer not to remember 😑. It involved a pair of large centipedes crawling(?) on the ceiling and floor.

...I don't really know why but recently, I've been feeling bored more often. I'm aware of how strange that sounds. The weird thing is, it's fine when I'm doing something I consider fun but the stuff I usually do... I couldn't focus... sometimes I want them to end faster. Like I rather do something else. You know, this feels like a sign for me to change my routine or something. Hmm. Maybe I should. A little change here and there, I guess? ...and yeah this applies to reading too. (Probably part of the cause lol) I changed the daily pages goal to 25 pages today because if I don't, I might risk another wave of reading slump...

Forgot to mention during the weekend... I was ready for some angsty, sad stories (weird mood, I know) but I ended up with funny, [a bit] sad ones. I was laughing most of the time though lol. I don't know if I should be annoyed or what since whenever I wish for such stories I would find the opposite... *sigh*

Anyway... urgghh I guess this is more for making a record of its occurrence: ...we receive no water supply again since yesterday~ Didn't see any KK area notices but I'm seeing many from other places, so I'm guessing it's related. Moreover, it was raining most of the day so that probably didn't help. Hopefully it will be back tomorrow...

50 pages

The water is back...!

Another uneventful day.

Oh yeah. Since I got it done pretty early (regarding my StoryGraph small goal), I started playing around with the reading challenges feature. Instead of putting the amount of books as my goal, I chose to read 20k pages as my goal - no idea how many books that approximately are but it's a pretty good round number. Other than that, I also make a daily goal of reading 50 pages per day. My point is... since I want to hit that daily goal, I've been reading "7th Time Loop" light novels about that amount everyday. Sometimes I have to wait until 12am to continue reading... lol it's a bit silly, I know.. Most of the time, I read some web novels while waiting for that time... and ends up not doing my daily goal after all lol. It would be hours of web novels and then reading "7th Time Loop" around 10-11pm.. so close to 12am.

*sigh*

I also made the same daily goal on the ReadMore app... oh, before I forget. This app has it's own reading schedule (it's a pro version feature though) which I just realised recently. Not going to use it much at this moment but I'm glad it has that feature! I might use it again the future.

It's Friday...

It's raining again...

...Happy Birthday to me~!

It's a pretty uneventful birthday though... unless you count having no water supply as one of those events (I refuse). *sigh* It's unfortunate that it has to happen on this day.. I do hope it will be back tomorrow. At this moment, I'm not feeling the stress yet. Ignorance was a bliss yesterday - Did laundry (using water from the tank) without a care in the world (ooof). Haaaah... this things, you usually only notice it after they happened.

Lol this post is turning gloomy at this point... it's not that really! Just another normal Friday here. I'm having fun reading "7th Time Loop" light novels (currently reading Volume 2) because I noticed there are a few small details not mentioned in the manga version. Been listing out Rishe's lives (there are two that I don't know what she decided to live as)... and some theories related to Arnold. Okay, now I'm excited!... since I can continue reading the web novel after the light novels... I doubt there'll be any answers but at least I can read ahead...?

Haaaah it's another day of wishing happiness for villainesses that deserve to be happy~~~

Also a day of hating naughty heroine-chan because EWW (the evil ones annoy me so much gaaah!)

It still feels like it's raining daily... not really a problem for me (yet) but I have to remember to get the dry laundry early (and that assuming it didn't rain in the morning). I am grateful though that this is the only laundry-related problem I'm having now. Remember when I need to wake up at 3-4am to do them?

*laughs bitterly* ...But I guess that doesn't matter now anyway since I still have sleeping problems lol

Still Distracted

It has been about a week that I started doing laundry during the day. Unfortunately my sleep routine is still bad (especially with distractions) so I guess no progress regarding that for now. Honestly, it makes me want to hiss all day at the idea of waking at 3-5am. Since I started suffering for it last year, I've associated it so negatively that I can say that I detest it so much (as of now).

Didn't touch "Heaven's Shadow" at all today. Might try to marathon-read it tomorrow. For some reason, I'm motivated...? XD

Dragon Lover

What happened today:

Actually in a better mood than yesterday... despite lacking sleep.
I like hot milk tea
One of the web novels I'm reading today made me cry
Finally started playing "The Princess in the Mirror" today. Too distracted with other things so I forgot to check when it came out, but better late than never! This is the English version of the game where the butler is my favourite [romanceable] character, Simian... though he got renamed to Simeon there...
Manga discoveries: "The White Cat's Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King's Lap" because why not? DRAGONS! There's also "Ryukishi no Okiniiri" but that wasn't today. BONUS - Loving "Hikikomori Reijou wa Hanashi no wakaru Seijuuban" which was from few days ago... No signs of dragon (yet?) but this featured sacred beasts which includes a big grumpy Tsundere bunny XD
Realised today that because of the unstable water pressure, I might be able to do laundry in the morning again...!
Kind of started writing one of stories I have in mind but since I haven't thought of the characters' names (it's not easy to name characters!) I had to stop lol

Yeah, today will be a slow brain day. I haven't reached that crash phase yet but I'll get there. I'm already so irritable and moody in the morning. Ahh I hate being in Zombie mode...!

Anyway..

I thought the water pressure will be more stable around 3-4am but I was proven wrong today. I guess now it's confirmed(?) that the water pressure we get here is not 100%(?) anymore... at least it's not strong enough for the water to enter the washing machine. The water flow looks strong though when I do it manually but of course.. it's still unstable. Gah! This is so troublesome!

Oof. Finished the book I mentioned yesterday. And... nope. I don't like the game parts either. It still sounds like an interesting idea but I'm not convinced enough...? Most of the time, it's just frustratingly slow and boring.

As of now (it's almost 10.30pm), the water is still not back... *sigh*it might be due to low pressure.. You know it's kind of hard to tell which one it is until you have dry faucets. The water outside is brown in the evening though so I'm kind of hopeful for early morning tomorrow.
