Su & Su

So this arrived today. It's one of the two packages I purchased from the seller in the same day XD

Been wanting to get this one for some time already. I did see some preloved versions come [and go - lost my chance to buy it lol] on Shopee but now I'm glad I waited(?). I found a paperback version and it's in very good condition!

The other package will probably arrive tomorrow.

Woke up with a mild fever again today. Some dry coughs. Still can't smell things much XD... though some food like chilli peppers seem to be strong enough to trigger some sort of faint scent. It's weird. I know something is there but I don't smell anything.

Been watching Episode 2 of "Call Me by Fire" (S3)... I just love having Shin again in this season, he's so chaotic! And it's so weird fun seeing him all excited(?) about dancing even though he wanted to avoid it at all costs in S2 lol.

There's one scene in the beginning where the director(?) asked him:

D: Did you grow this time?
S: I've grown a lot. I can't let the previous brothers lose face.
D: But I didn't expect when you grow up and you've been Alec Su
S: Really? But I wanna surpass him

Maybe it's just me but I'm seeing Alec Su vibes (that late meeting!) in the meeting he had with his tribe so I think he has the potential to surpass him :P

One of My favourite Colours

Used to be my one and only favourite colour (which changed accordingly to fandoms lol) but who says you can only have one favourite colour??? These past few years, it's back to being one of my favourite colours. Favourite shades are mood-dependent but recently (as in after Covid started), it's mint green :P

Japanese Genmaicha Latte

Tried a couple of drinks from ZUS Coffee (via FP of course lol) recently and I'm obsessed with this! Love the smell of brown rice mixed with matcha~

Green-eyed Monster

Because I'm only human, there will be moments where I will feel envy of someone or something(?)... I try not to dwell too long with them though because I'm the one who will be sick (literally got a headache once lol). It's more like I acknowledge it and sweep the feeling under the rug. Out of sight, out of mind :P

This can also refers to my FemShep in Mass Effect games that always have green eyes because I want her to XD (she can be a monster sometimes too lol)

Aqua Green

I've always call these shade of blues and/or greens this since little. I guess I don't really have a specific shade as favourite because I'm a fan of all of them (okay, maybe sometimes more for turquoise but that's not the point now). I just love that they feel like bluish green, greenish blue and both sometimes... and it works perfectly for me because blue is also one of my favourite colours.

Bad Luck

I feel like I've been having a string of bad luck these few days. I probably shouldn't have cleaned my room that day. Probably shouldn't have drunk a carton of milk yesterday.

Funnily (or rather, ironically?), reading has been fun again so I guess things balance out in the end...?

On a lighter note, I'm being haunted by Pakho Chau's expressions in their (the Su Tribe's) performances for "Huo Yuanjia" (the beginning) and "Xiu Shou Pang Guan" (X-part) on "Call Me by Fire" (I'm also considering "Kuang Liu" but I don't know which part I want to draw lol)... so I need to draw them down so that he can stop haunting me XD

[Regardless of whether I'm capable of doing it, I'm still going to do it :P]

Headache

You know what I just realised today?

Alec Su's other albums (mainly the ones from NMG Music) are available on Spotify! I don't know how long they will stay available so I'm going to listen to them as much as possible.

It's also a day where I can do laundry early. That means I don't need to wake up at 3am to do laundry tomorrow! I guess less people are using water in our neighbourhood so the water pressure has been good most of the day. Have to do it at night though (there are some problems that come with that)... but I'll take it! I just want to wake up at normal times - just this time, please just let me wake up normally :(

It's crazy that I kind of still felt that headache in the morning from reading "The Difference Engine" yesterday. I think... it was a stress-induced headache..... I guess it makes sense. I'm never good at dealing with, you know, being stuck with things I don't like. I keep them buried inside until I get sick and/or experience outburst (ooh very "fun" when this happens :/ I can get soooo unpredictable).

The headache kind of went away around noon. I tried doing things that won't make me feel stressed(?)... which apparently included [re]watching "Initial D" movie on Netflix. ...I do love fast-moving cars. ~~Ahhh now I wanna play "Need for Speed" again~~~~~~

I'm trying to finish some books that I started last year and today my main focus is "The Maze Runner". Got reminded again why I take so long to read this... why are there so many characters????? ~~are you Russian literature????~~ LOL

I think I'm just going to pretend I know who is who because it's getting ridiculous to not finish this just because of that! I'll be careful to not be too stressed until I get a headache :P

January's Goals

Okay... let's get this done before I procrastinate again.

Happy to report that big goal is a success again last month (^_^). 26 days~!

As mentioned before, I gave up on my small goal. I just don't care anymore lol

So last month's small goal is uncompleted. I did manage to post daily in December though (it's a miracle! XD) though I won't count that in... I finished 16 books in December, very far from my aim but that's like the highest amount of books I read in a month in 2022. It's not a done small goal but still pretty amazing, for me anyway XD

I'm finally at the last episode of "Call Me by Fire" (S2)!!!

I think I have my fill of reality TV shows for now. I'm this close to rolling my eyes in annoyance and saying mean things. I can see from the creators' angle that it's more interesting to do some of the things but... I'm starting to cringe at how gimmicky some of them were. Maybe I'm just being my usual unfeeling self :P

Anyway, on the more positive stuff:

Alec's tribe is full of wholesome members~ I can't.. I just love seeing Pakho Chau ~~fanboying over him lol~~ getting closer to him like a vice class monitor. Alec was very strict in the beginning so I'm glad that his tribe members saw beyond that. Loved that he got to recruit Shin and Will Pan... These two are just too funny XD
Vanness is... still interesting. He actually has a very lovely and infectious smile. I might check his songs out on Spotify later because man... watching him in the show really improved my impression of him after all these years. Jerry Yan was in the first season but I don't know if I want to go through another season of this *sigh*
Finally, a mention of Wuji and Wuji LOL

Full Stop.

I've decided. I'm leaving my small goal from last month uncompleted.

Yeah... I just did one shelf (or sub-shelf? It's like the one I posted before) and I realised I don't want to do it anymore XD. In the spirit of wanting to do more DNFs this year (though it will be less about books haha), I'm not going reorganise my bookshelf (for now). I'll do it when I want to.

Some updates:

"Innocence" - one more week before I pick a new book. As of now, I barely made any progress XD. Didn't even reach page 100~ *sigh*
"Call Me by Fire" (S2) - currently at second part of #7.
Anime - Just saw the first episode of "The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague".... loved it! It's a pretty chill anime. Haven't seen a female character like that for so long (at least the main character ones). And Iruma~~~ the recent episode was so good, I need to re-watch it again!
Super Bunny Man - Finished watching PockySweet's playthrough with his friend yesterday. Lol I guess this isn't really an update but I just want to talk about this game. It's super hilarious! I don't even know why, maybe it's the unpredictability? I've seen several by other youtubers and I always laughed out loud. And this one playthrough which was from his recent stream... it's a total gem! I laughed too much from this XD

So who keeps re-watching Alec Su's ~~group~~ tribe performance for "Huo Yuanjia" today??? Yes, me! LOL

Just started the fourth episode. Loved the fact that two people who acted as Zhang Wuji before are finally in the same ~~group~~ tribe.

...I'm going to enjoy seeing their interactions from afar which are surprisingly (or not) very wholesome! [This coming from someone who never watched the first season, or the sister show]. Quite surprised to see how positive Vanness Wu is. Also, some of the musicians that joined the show were very interesting, personality-wise. And nice voices! Been listening to some of them on Spotify recently.

Feeling much better today.

Couldn't sleep last night due to pain that comes and goes so I ended up - nope, you probably can't guess it - "revisited" my old fandom. Lol. I just saw months-old news of Alec Su being on a reality show called "Call Me by Fire" (2nd season). It's available on Youtube so... I'm watching it now.

Almost at the end of "Seventeen", like 20 pages or so... might finish it tonight or midnight.

I don't consider myself having a good memory (I hate memorising stuff) but sometimes I do remember things I don't even realise I remember... So I guess it's like selective memory kind of thing? I do make notes and reminders but most of the time they are useless because I keep losing them haha (but there's also that thing where you remember easily if you write them down... so it doesn't matter if I lose them, I guess?)

I'm going to go with "Plato's Eternity" for this. It's a bracelet from Folli Follie. It was featured in "Love of the Aegean Sea" and I was/am crazy about it. I even want it to be part of my wedding, if I ever get the chance to have one lol.

I usually don't really care about jewellery, so this might be the only jewellery I ever want in my life... and it was all because I was a fan of Alec Su.

I remember their faces but I don't remember their names other than Simon :/

I don't really have a favourite...? As long as it doesn't give me pain (other than blisters), durable and long-lasting then I'm good.. which automatically excludes all [very] high heels XD

Again, I'm beginning with this: I don't really have one... but if I really have to choose it will be Onitsuka Chihiro... Haven't really been listening to her recent songs but I love her songs from early 2000s.

I'm more of a logical person but I try to listen to my instincts from time to time.

Me, who loves space opera movies/tv shows/games: YES.

I don't have a bathrobe... but I do have a blue sleeping robe that's surprisingly warm even though the fabric is thin.

I'm a fast learner. Of course, not for everything. Most of the time I can learn what I need to know by observing and asking questions. For some stuff, I will try to recognise a pattern so that I can try to find an efficient way to do them... just so that I can ~~laze around or~~ do something else later XD

Happy Sunday ♡

Having a super great morning~

Slept early last night but woke up 3 hours later... nothing new there.

What makes it great is... I have finished knitting 2nd haramaki!!! This was what got me into learning how to knit for real last year. Found this particular pattern at that time and started wishing to have one.

Feeling very accomplished :)

But this isn't mine though (Mine is to be in grey colour *coming soon*). Made this for my mother.

It looks like a skirt and it's hefty! Might be too warm for the weather here haha... But I believe it's still usable during cold weather or in cold rooms.

I don't know if I want to start my grey haramaki soon after this. Hmmm should I go and learn how to crochet now?... since I reached this milestone already. Honestly, haven't thought of what to knit next (other than the grey haramaki).

If I remember correctly, at least half of this was knitted when I watched "My Fair Princess" on dimsum. Since the platform is going away this month, I've been binge-watching MFP from the first season. Currently, I'm watching the second season together with the third season. The advantages of knowing how it ends really help here XD. Probably part of the reason I haven't finished reading those two books is because I was (am) busy watching this lol

My second book by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Honestly, I didn't really like "Crime and Punishment". But I read that in 2014 so I probably should try rereading it in the [very] far future to see if I have a change of heart. I don't remember much other than thinking the main character whiny or something. Don't know how I'll fare with this... At least I'm glad that it's not as long as "Crime and Punishment".

My Fair Princess Haunts Me Again

HZGG PART 2 NOVELS~~~~~

AKA Huan Zhu Ge Ge. My Fair Princess. Princess Returning Pearl(?).

This is the thing I found on Carousell recently. So lucky that I found the exact version I wanted (the one with the casts on the covers). This is the ones I asked my sister to borrow from the school library for me to read lol. They are in better condition than the school library's though (fortunately!) which is understandable. I was the school librarian before and I noticed it getting borrowed pretty often (very popular item). I wasn't brave enough to borrow at that time because I was embarrassed if people ask if I can even read it. Since I learnt to read Chinese informally (and haphazardly), I've always feel like I don't know enough or something. I guess it's something like inferiority complex kind of thing?

ANYWAY. Back to present. Yeah. Never thought I'll be able to own these today. I'm so happy~

Does this mean I'll start reading them again soon?

OH HECK NO.

It's so loooong and emotionally-draining.

I don't have the complete set of Part 1. I do have the option to buy the ebook version on Google Play but honestly, I prefer a physical version. The seller on Carousell do have the Part 1 but it's in Simplified Chinese. You can see that from the title on the cover - It's 还珠格格 instead of 還珠格格. Sometimes there are reading materials with Traditional's in the cover but the content is entirely in Simplified form. But I'm pretty sure about this one being in Simplified Chinese (because I saw the same one at the local library years ago).

Of Old Posts & Old Fandoms

One of the things I like about blogging and managing blogs is re-reading my old posts. They are basically my thoughts (at that time) being "recorded" online. And it feels so interesting to revisit them years later. It's usually "WHO ARE YOU??" for me but anyway they are still really interesting.

Mind you, I was a few months short of 17 years old at that time and I just started blogging.. Unfortunately, I'm still plagued by mood swings at present. I try to manage but yes, I still feel I have the problem. Sometimes I just feel too lazy to live.

Current day
So here's another draft post finally published today. I've been re-reading old posts again recently (because I was editing the labels and search description *just realised I can edit that too now*)... and as expected.

"WHO ARE YOU, PAST-ME?"

Haha. It really felt like re-reading my old diaries. Some of them I can recall and some surprise me "Eh that happened?"... and I'm a bit embarrassed of posts that showed my fangirl side XD. Hey! FYI, this blog survived at least three fandoms - I'm proud of those obsessive moments! I might not like them as much as I did before but I sometimes I revisit them. Sometimes. I think it's not an exaggeration that they shaped some part of me today. For example, my interest in foreign languages. Being a fan of Alec Su made me learn to understand Chinese and read Traditional Chinese (I'm bad at reading the simplified version). I don't have much chance to practise using them lately but I still watch chinese/taiwanese dramas... sometimes. And then later I became a fan of Ohno Satoshi & Arashi, which again made me learn to understand Japanese... Knowing how to read chinese helped me pick up kanji quite quickly (sometimes I will know the meaning before I know how to pronounce it). That was a big help to me nowadays because I play japanese mobile games daily.

My method of learning is haphazard but I enjoy using the skills now whenever it suits me. Used to buying chinese magazines from before, I'm not afraid to attempt-read japanese manga... it's easier nowadays because we have more resources to learn languages available online.

At this moment, I want to get better at French which I took up in University. Of course, at the same time I wish to expand my Japanese vocabularies and learn more Japanese grammar.

Don't you just love how this post turn from "re-reading old posts" into my adventures in learning foreign languages?

Chemistry
Anybody would enjoy being taken care by other people even if you didn't say it.. Doesn't it feels good when someone asks about your problems & gives you his/her support & advice? It sure does.

I actually don't quite like my Chemistry teacher, Miss Jenny C.O.L. She is too friendly to her students...this is what has always cause disturbance to her class. When they are talking, laughing, joking around etc she forgots to finish the thing she is teaching...

But today she gave me a different feeling... She asked me about my Chemistry Paper (sth that rarely happened) ...& made an announcement to the class to tell everyone not to be stingy with their knowledge... PLEASE HELP RUTH to understand (the concepts etc)...

I think that was sweet (although I feel a bit embarrassed..>_<)... With such caring teacher, I don't mind studying hard (notice it's 'HARD' not 'SMART') for her.

Saw the MV for this song...hehehe more Emperor & Princess scenes... Now, the serial drama looks more promising... but I can feel that the story will be full of misunderstandings..hmmm

The lyric for the song was very simple & direct... The girl don't know which one to love.. the boy kept asking her who's the one... The girl became tired of thinking who it will be.. (& need help from other ppl)... In the end, she gave up thinking cos she's hungry!!

I would want to see Alec & Jang Nara sing that song live on stage!

I feel much lighter after 'having holidays' for 2 weeks. Less stress... I think what I can do now to save myself is keeping myself happy & think positively...

It's hard to get into my world... I don't reveal my thoughts easily to other people... In short, it's hard to read me... I have a very complex personality, I think differently from others in my class.

Sometimes...loneliness fills me...

I don't think I have problems in communicating... it's just that I'm VERY PICKY in everything. If I don't like someone, he/she will be in my AVOID LIST. I'm very reserved in class, but when I don't speak, that doesn't mean I'm stupid or friendless... I see, I listen, I observe my surroundings... I brood a lot...

Starting today, I'm keeping my mouth shut in class, getting more & more quiet, & speak or anwsers when only needed.....

I will channel my thoughts by blogging... that will keep me from getting crazy... I think I'll do more translations related to Alec starting today....

I'm not a professional translator... I just translate base on my on understanding (with the help of online dictionaries).. & I only includes interesting parts only, I'm lazy to translate the whole article.. But translating is fun, & I believe in the phrase, "Practice makes Perfect". Forgive me if I translated wrongly.

Alec once cried because of the script. He said: "Very touching. The male lead went through many kinds of hardship. A poor lad who still struggles positively even in difficult times - reminds me of myself during the time I went to China to film 'Huan Zhu Ge Ge'. That time, I just started my career as an actor. Being in a place I'm not familiar with... it's the same with what happened to the male lead. That is why I want to portray this character.

Alec was the one who 'dragged' Ruby Lin into the serial. He said :"She came because of me. There are some of her *scenes that have too much problem. Everyone was worried if she can complete the filming smoothly. She acted very well. She once said 'Don't worry-lah, I will not embarrass you de."

The articles also mentioned about the Korean filming team--sth about Korean having many rules. Niu Meng Meng said if you yawn during filming, you have to bow to the whole filming unit & say 'sorry'. The yawning thing could angers the director. She was also required to wash her hair everyday after finish filming by the Korean make-up assistant.(*because its not hygienic when it smells.. LOL... agreed 100%.. I also wash my hair everyday!)

Did a lot of thinking during sick....

School & Friends
Including this week, I've been 'holidaying' at home about 10 days of school days. Now, I'm getting a back-to-school fright. When I recover from this sickness, I'll be back to school, carrying back all that stress - my unfinished Art Folio Project, Seekers club reports...& I'll be so much behind my classmates(they must have been done with discussing the answers for last SPM trial exam)... & I'll be having the second SPM trial exam on 5 Sept..... AHHHH...... all these make me feel like fainting.... I can't even study at home (truly, how can you study with all these ugly thing on your skin?......I abhor chicken pox!!!!!).

Besides, I'm still discouraged by the way teachers act at school. Oh, how I wish there will be a teacher like Eikichi Onizuka in school. A teacher who will never treat his students as TRASH & never calls them TRASH. (well, my teachers do not call us TRASH but some of them have this attitude of treating us as we are trash if you are not his/her best student......). An easy-going teacher, someone you can go to when you have problems.... someone approachable as if he is your bestfriend... .......

Anyway, the word 'friend' does not mean a lot to me anymore like before... I had experienced betrayal & loneliness... When you have friends, that doesn't mean you can't feel lonely... I do... I remember an incident that happened when I was in Primary 6 (12 years old)... A friend I had known since we were 6 years old... It was my UPSR exam year.. I didn't know when did it happened or started, she began to be friendly with some other friend(a gang of girls)...oh, well.. I was not being jealous or what (ok, maybe a little...) I didn't object to their relationship... but they started to get so close to each other, started fooling around, seemed to not bother their studies(Studying is my first priority~)... & she seemed didn't care about everything I spoke to her... I feel so alone.. & eventually, making 'studying is more important' as a reason to myself, I made a foolish decision. At least, at that time, I thought it was what I should do. I did something like En Qi in Eps 23/24 in 'Love of the Aegean Sea'. I started to act cold towards her. I seldomly talked to her. & I succeed. She changed her siting position in class. From beside my desk to the desk near to her new gang friends. I pretended I didn't feel a thing... I pretended I was happy with the new person siting beside me... I pretended everything was okay... I became quite sensitive by then... a lot of things that moved my feelings happened during that year (yr 2000).. but I suppressed my feelings well...

But this year, it had gotten worste... you know how lonely it feels when you have friends who always speak to you about their problems (I do always listen to them!!)...yet you can't speak to them about your problem... it seems they are not the right person who can help you, they doesn't even have the intention to listen to you... how discouraging...

Love of the Aegean Sea Part 2?
This serial always set me off thinking over things. WILL & SHOULD there be a sequel to this serial? (Love of the Aegean Sea Part 2). I read this (of course it is not 100% true) but the story do have some similarity with the sequel I created in mind. The story from that site goes on with Xiao Tong & Yao Xiang travelling across the world taking photographs, then they meet someone that looks like En Qi in Korea(named Cui Zhi Jian...*making a wild guess* maybe Choi Ji-gun in korean). Apparently, this person, although looks like En Qi, his charactistics are a big opposite to En Qi's... a person you always find in bars... depends on women to live... Well, Xiao Tong is interested in him, always treating him well.. Yao Xiang worries that he will hurts her, & always find him to discuss...& the plot goes on with Zhi Jian touched by Xiao Tong's hospitality...& what will happen when he knows that he is only a replacement for En Qi etc... Hmm...the story is so much different...no more platonic love...

Personally speaking, if the producers are thinking of creating a sequel, they must have a very excellent script & plot to make it a big success... (Maybe they don't really need to do a serial drama, a 2 hours movie could also do...)...

Another thing that always bothers me is this phrase, "En Qi is so weak." I don't know how to describe this feeling but EN QI IS NOT WEAK! There is so much I want to talk about this character, so I'll do it in a post specially dedicated to him.

Gom Player Part Removed

Serial Dramas on TV
I don't quite like all the chinese drama in TV this time around. I'm bored by TVB's "Perish In the Name of Love" - I don't like this serial, so unexciting... Charmaine Sheh's character is so boring... Steven Ma.. also the same.. Although I kind of like the story between the emperor and the queen (Cheong Peng's mother) I still rate this drama (overall) 6½ out of 10 stars.

TV2's "Find the Light" was quite good at first but now has bored me. Rated ½ star more than "Perish In the Name of Love" by me, I like the story between Chan Tuo Yong & Wong Ng's mother...also Tam Chi Tong & his wife's (Yun Yi) story. I don't like the princess.

Yesterday, Dicky Cheung's "Monkey King etc" (long title, don't remember...sort of like a Part 3 for "Journey to the West") ended. It's A GREAT RELIEF to me. Don't like that serial drama. Sun Wu Kong's characteristics were different from the one in Part 1 & Part 2 of "Journey to the West".... I don't like the one who act Tang San Zang either... I prefer Kong Wah more. The serial is too star-studded, I lost interest after watching a few episodes.

I think QUALITY is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than QUANTITY.

"Lofty Waters Verdant Bow" replaced that serial. This one looks more interesting & it has some actors I like to watch.... (I love Raymond Lam in "Eternal Happiness", though I don't like that serial that much).... Just watched the first episode today, missed 20 minutes in the beginning, but I think I like it already...hehe..

Just finished watched 'Tru Calling' an hour ago.... Today's story is a sad one... A father with a daughter who need a heart transplant was shot dead by the grocerer and wants Tru to help him... Then Tru's day started severally because the wrong person died... It turns out that the father did suppose to die, without his heart being damaged... so that it can be given to his sick daughter...

*sigh*

My BIO teacher said if a person's heart stop beating then only we can say that he is dead. En Qi died... but his heart was given Yao Xiang & Yao Xiang managed to see the sunlight the next day as what En Qi had told Xiao Tong... His heart continues beating in Yao Xiang's body... Doesn't that mean En Qi really is still 'alive'? No wonder Xiao Tong can't forget him... & it was a good thing that Yi Qian didn't damage En Qi's heart...

Okay, better stop...I'm starting to get emotional...
