Reading
Where to start...
Okay, so... the local library offers an e-library that consists of locally written books. I was curious, so I registered and borrowed something I thought would be light. It looks like a YA book.
I was so, so wrong.
The book was a mix of things. I was expecting a coming-of-age kind of story. But then they added the sci-fi elements... and a pinch of sports at the end. And there are so many deaths. Mostly are animals', which I'm very uncomfortable with (wouldn't pick this book if I knew it earlier). The way it described the deaths were quite graphic too. Brief, but graphic. I'm very surprised that this is something children/teenagers read nowadays. The cover looks so innocent and harmless. You really shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
As I reached the end, seeing how fast... living things were dying one by one, I actually laughed out loud, in bitterness. WTF is this book? Why do you kill your [animal] characters so easily?
I'm not even going to mention the title here. Honestly, I'm feeling a bit embarrassed. It made me wonder if I've been reading books wrongly. Maybe, as I just got out of my reading slump cave, the latest generation has uncovered a new, hip way of reading?
I'm really tired of published books that read like fanfics or school essays.
Maybe I just picked the wrong book to read today.
