Utterly Distracted
I wrote a story and it was terrible.
Yesterday, Mel-chan suggested a writing prompt session. Each of us found a prompt online and combined it to form the topic/keywords we would use for our story. Picking what to write was fun.
Starting the story was not fun. I just wrote a sentence and I already hate what I wrote.
"Names! I want good-sounding and fitting names!"
"I could convey this better in other ways but I don't know how!"
"That's so illogical! That wouldn't happen nowadays!"
"Then why can't he/she just do this??"
While I write the story, I kept picking out my mistakes or things I'm not comfortable with. Had to remind myself that this is just a simple story... that I don't have to do too much worldbuilding just to get my story going. I want the characters to lead the way.
"Who are these characters? Do I even like them enough to write a story about them?"
"This part is so lame! But I'll still choose to write it this way..."
Honestly though, it was a good writing practice.
I'm sure that I'm not the only one who feels like this when I write.
I should do more of these, as practice.
