Unfinished

Posted in: 2022 posts | Our Power Woes

Final day of year 2022. I feel like this day arrived too fast XD

There are so many things I haven't done or finished! I mean, I can still do it tomorrow of course lol... It's just that today I feel... unfinished.

Oh well~

I feel so sleepy right now... maybe I won't be awake at 12am

Oh yeah, yesterday we got power back after midnight. I drank enough water but still woke up with a mild headache in the morning.

In the dark

Posted in: 2022 posts | Our Power Woes | Reading

Here I am again, in the dark. We lost power twice tonight... I had time to shower before the second one.

Note to self: Must drink lots of water.

I have like 100+ pages left for "Seventeen". I might attempt to finish it tonight.

Yesterday...

Posted in: 2022 posts | Life: Anecdotes | Our Power Woes | The Weather Looks...

After I posted yesterday, we lost power around 11.45-11.50am... this went on until after 8pm... My family was planning to go to 1Borneo. I had to join them because who wants to spend their time at home with no electricity, right??? Unfortunately, I find 1B uninteresting. Oh well. I chose the one with lesser evil. Returned home around 6pm. Opted to wait for the power before taking shower. Sweaty. Headache.

I don't know if it's related or not (probably due to not drinking enough water *sigh*) but I woke up with a headache in the late morning today. Not fun. Made me so irritable.

We had strong sun today so that was great, for the laundry XD

Pick-A-New-Book Jar 2021-2022

Posted in: 2022 posts | Pick-A-New-Book Jar | Reading Challenge

I finally finished the last book from the jar yesterday so now I can make this post. Something like a conclusion post.

Through this jar, I've finished 53 books... and counting those with 3 stars and above, I guess I enjoyed most of them...??? I find it interesting that I don't have any 4.5 stars ones lol. Although... if you only want to count 4-5 stars, then that's very few, huh. I think that's one of risks with these jars. You might have fewer favourites depending on what you put in there. And my reading taste is weird so maybe I'm not the best example to refer to :P

Will I recommend this method to find the next book to read from your shelf?
Absolutely. Very helpful when you don't know which one to start from especially if you have many to choose from.

Will I do it again?
Oh, yes. Starting Sunday next week. Coincidentally it's a new year so... I'm doing it again next year! It's going to be biweekly - a book every two weeks. If there's a fifth week, then it's going to be rest day/free week. So basically, two books per month.

Expectations

Posted in: 2022 posts | Reading | The Weather Looks...

Good news. I've finished "The Left Hand of Darkness". I gave it 2.5 stars. I enjoyed some parts of it but not most of it. A bit of a drag for my taste. I wouldn't say it's as bad as [my experiences with] Wells and Conrad (maybe leaning a bit towards Conrad, but not as long-winded... but still info-dumpish) because I will still read her other books. Especially the other five unread books (of which one is an omnibus of four books) of hers that I currently have in possession.

I think I kind of had my expectations high with this one...? It's not high high expectations, but high enough(?). Maybe I should just have low expectations with all new books I encounter from the start. Then I might have better reading experiences with them...

Haaaah... at least I can finally make that post, I guess...? Maybe tomorrow.

P/s: The weather was a bit better today so we got dry laundry by the end of the day. But that also means I have to wake up early tomorrow to deal with the latest laundry backlog *loooong sigh*

My Head Hurts

Posted in: 2022 posts | No Mood | The Weather Looks...

Rained hard in the noon. And it feels colder than yesterday.

Was trying to read "The Left Hand of Darkness" (and hopefully finish it) but... *sigh* my head hurts from reading all those descriptions of stuff I don't care about~~~

...doesn't help that I'm in a bad mood. I blame the rain :(

(the pile of unwashed laundry is stressing me out arggggh)

Brrr!

Posted in: 2022 posts | Family | In Zombie Mode | The Weather Looks...

Christmas day. A pretty normal day, actually. Which means it's a good day, in my book, knowing how I feel usually around this time of the year. I don't remember if it rained (maybe not much) or not. Cold-ish? Since the water felt cold when I showered.

Went to Karamunsing in the afternoon. Not that many people there (looked like the usual weekend crowd). Surprisingly a great day to do shopping for electronics. Great salesperson with amiable personality.

Also, I couldn't count properly today. Zombie mode even though I woke up normal today??? WTH. Should I just make 3-4 am my time to wake every morning? Now I just have to get used to a new routine... or something. I should go to sleep.

...and it happened again. Haha. I don't know why I sound robotic when I compose this post on mobile. Maybe my inner voice is robotic lol

Keysticks

Posted in: 2022 posts | Interest: Games | Life: Anecdotes | Netflix | Youtube

I've ascended to a new level.

So... I was cleaning the computer desk because my brother has shipped his old(?) monitor from Penang to home. Since it's larger than the one I'm using now, I have to clear most of my stuff on the desk. It's not here yet but knowing me, it's best to do it as early as possible XD

Okay, that's not it. I've been using a game controller to play Filament (and Fall Guys, only recently) and I was thinking maybe I can also use it like a keyboard/mouse...?

Yup, that's what this post is about lol.. I've mapped some of the buttons to keyboard shortcuts that I usually use (I'm using Keysticks) so I can use it in normal, non-game situation (like watching Youtube videos or Netflix). Just small stuff. I have high hopes though XD... it could be life-changing~

Mystery Solved?

Posted in: 2022 posts | Forty Winks and More | Goodreads | Life: Anecdotes | My Salty Side | The Weather Looks...

Raining on and off throughout the day.

I feel like I've done enough "catch-ups" today. I've been writing down quotes or excerpts from books I read these past few months (I took photos/screenshots). Not that much but still painful to write all of them by hand. Also added (liked?) some of the quotes on Goodreads.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

I was searching the place we are living in the news (I was looking for a different news article) and stumbled upon recent news. Apparently our water problems got a "mention" in a local newspaper. Feeling validated somehow. The article mentioned about some pipe damages somewhere and problems with new water meters installed months ago...  I guess it's not a mystery anymore?? (-.- )

No water rationing is mentioned though. I'll just assume that we have magicked water that changes pressure around 8am and returns around 11pm.

(Fiiiinee... I guess it can just mean more people are using the water around that time and lesser near midnight. The whole situation is still sh*tty though. Imagine waking up almost everyday at 3-4am just to do laundry. Yes, I can see this waking [super] early from a positive angle but I really don't want to have a sh*tty sleeping routine anymore... and zombie mode is no fun!)

TBR Jar

Posted in: 2022 posts | Reading | The Weather Looks...

Blue-grey sky. A bit rain around noon. But... we get surprisingly strong sun in the afternoon... which means, I have to get up super early again tomorrow. *sigh*

I have a new idea for another reading jar (I really love my jars lol). A TBR jar!

I know.... it's not really unique (actually quite common) but it's definitely new to me. I rarely do a TBR list. I just usually read by instinct. This jar will also save me from the need to update the usual jar... But I most probably will use this TBR jar off-blog.

How is this different from the others? It's going to contain titles of books I want to read as soon as possible. I have mentioned a few of them in this year's posts... and since it's hard to pick which one to start from first, I'll use the jar to help me pick XD

If you're curious, yes, I lost count how many jars I have until now... not a big problem really XD (as long as my unread books become read books in the end).

Close Call

Posted in: 2022 posts | Reading

Today is the day I realised I enjoy finishing book more than starting them.

The relief when you reach the last page is tremendous! Like I almost want to start a new book.. (wait...)

So... I finished the book that I waited weeks to borrow again from the library. Gave it 2.5 stars. *sigh* The wait wasn't worth it. But at least, I know what happened in the end...?

You know, it's actually good that I could borrow it online. I almost wanted to purchase it via BookDepository... so that's a close call *phew*

It Made My Day

Posted in: 2022 posts | Life: Anecdotes | Reading

I already cut the long paper to 6 strips. Shredded one strip today...and it sounded marvellous XD. I mean... yeah, it's just the sound of continuous shredding of paper, but it's so amusing! Why am I so amused by this?? Going to shred the rest tomorrow. Coincidentally (or maybe not?), those strips are the last batch from the pile. Might be a good time to let the machine (and my nose, or basically my respiratory system) rest before I go find a new pile in the storeroom.

Was thinking of finishing "The Piano Man Project" tonight but alas... need to wake up early again to do laundry~

Late Late

Posted in: 2022 posts | blog images | Dorama | Goodreads | Interest: Games | Library | Reading | Reading Challenge | Spotify

So... the theme for this post will be "late".

♪
Few days ago, I suddenly had the urge to listen to Kurosagi's movie soundtrack. Tried looking for it on Spotify and I found one. The soundtrack for the dorama. This year's dorama.

That's how I knew there's a new version of Kurosagi [live action] this year.

♫
Barely made any progress on my two remaining jar books. *siiiigggh*

Also, haven't done anything related to my "new" jar. No updates done whatsoever.

♪♫
It's funny how having the piano tuner over few days ago had actually made me clean the area around the piano much faster than planned(?). It was really the case of "You can do it if you really try" or something similar :P.

Unfortunately, I feel exhausted just by thinking about it and now I don't want to deal with the pile of things I have in my room anymore...

♫♫
Oh yeah. "The Sirens of Titan" is the 100th book I finished reading this year. It happened on Dec 7th. That means I've completed my Goodreads reading challenge this year~!

I don't really need to update that here lol but it fits the "late" theme so I'll just include it in this post.

♪♫♫
I finally get to borrow a book again from the library yesterday! This is the first time I placed a hold and waited for the book to be available. It took me a few weeks. Apparently the hold "elapsed" early this month. So I guess that meant I forgot to borrow it in time...? I continued reading the book today but I kind of forgot who is who anymore XD *oh well*

Long Paper

I'm still shredding paper this month and... I just found the longest paper (it's like 8 A4 papers wide x 3 A4 papers high) in my pile. It might sound petty to you but I'm very excited! I'm going to cut it wide-wise because who doesn't want to shred a paper that long??? What, it's just me??? XD

Still Chaotic Wednesday

Posted in: 2022 posts | I Need to be Distracted | Life: Anecdotes | Procrastination Strikes Again | Reading

Day two of being overwhelmed by stuff I should have organised earlier... *sigh*

I have no idea what to do with half of the stuff (will think what to do later)... And I was sooooo distracted. I really didn't want to deal with them so I kept doing other things instead of what I should be doing lol (I also kept wanting to play Filament...). And there's also a basket of laundry backlog (low priority) near the piano which I hope to deal with at 3-4am tomorrow *sigh*

Oh yeah... finally made progress on my remaining jar books last night. I might try to finish the "The Piano Man Project" tomorrow or the day after.

Chaotic Tuesday

Posted in: 2022 posts | Forty Winks and More | In Zombie Mode | Manga | Piano | Reading

What a change from yesterday.

Today was so chaotic. I couldn't sleep at all so around 3am I got out of bed because I had to do laundry... and the piano tuner is coming this Thursday so I had to clear the area around the piano. There were so many stuff there. Why were there so many stuff there??? What was I thinking?!!... Got me wondering hard what to do with those stuff at 4am in the morning. It's not even done. I still need to clean the area above the piano (tomorrow!).

Finished another manga today and that paled in comparison with the one I read yesterday. Should've read that one first *sigh*. I went to check the mangaka's (for yesterday's manga) other works and just realised it was the mangaka for "Mizutama Honey Boy"!!! No wonder that humour style sounds familiar! I love "Mizutama Honey Boy"... there's a chaotic character there (Nanao-senpai!) that never fails to make me laugh with how chaotic and wild he is XD

Well-Rested

Posted in: 2022 posts | Manga | Reading | Reddit

I feel... serene today.

Probably because I woke up well-rested. It was very missed-my-breakfast late, but peaceful.

Or maybe it's just because that I started reading a really nice shoujo manga after I woke up. Manga is soooo nice, everyone should try read them at least once - just let yourself fall in that manga rabbit hole (please).

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Saw something from the r/books subreddit today: Literature Map

It's just the kind of thing I need because it has been hard to find other authors that are like my favourite authors. I'm seeing some unfamiliar names for Diana Wynne Jones so might want to consider their books next time...

Water Mystery

Posted in: 2022 posts | Family | Life: Anecdotes | Manga | Youtube

So... in mood for horror stuff again XD

Read a couple of horror manga (so much fun!) today. Haven't started/continued watching any movies yet... oh, yeah! Saw a Youtube ad which turned out to be a movie trailer for M3GAN and it looked soooo interesting! I'm tired of horror dolls movies but this one is a robot (android?) with AI (I assume?)... sounds like a fun horror movie to me.

Anyway... water problem at home has started becoming a mystery, for some reason. If you ask me, I still think it's water rationing (due to having certain "fixed" times where we experience low pressure and when it "returns" to normal around midnight). If they say no problems at all in our area, okay, I can see why they can say that... technically we still get water even if it's low pressure water so... of course it's "no problems at all" (-.- ). Putting my opinion aside, my mother thought it might be our plumbing system or the meter thing... but that doesn't explain the magical times the water goes and returns, right? (She also arrived at that conclusion)

*sigh*

December's Goals

Posted in: 2022 posts | Big Goal and Small Goal | blog images | Reading

It's time for this again~

November's
(Very) Big goal:
Wake up early

Small goal:
Re-organise my bookshelf
Unfortunately, my small goal has remained untouched the whole month. I did organise some stuff,  but not my bookshelf XD... So I'm thinking of extending it to this month! Because I do still want to get my bookshelf organised again.

I did finish reading "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest" today (which was my uncompleted small goal for September... should I count that as done??? :P I guess not lol).

Anyway, did great for my big goal. 24 days!

So for this month... oh, I guess no changes compared to last month's...

I'll just add something extra... since it's the end of the year and all~

(Very) Big goal:
Wake up early

Small goals:
- Re-organise my bookshelf
-- Finish 31 books in December
-- Post daily in December

Of course, the two extra goals are optional... that's what I'll tell myself so that I won't feel too stressed about them

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

So.. yeah, I finally did it! I'm finally done with "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest"! Why is it so thick T___T

That Red T-Shirt

Posted in: 2022 posts | Interest: Games | My Fangirl Side | Need to Get This Out of My Chest | Reading

I'm starting the post with this list:

Things I'm obsessed interested in recently
  • Idol subgenre media. Read Rin Usami's "Idol, Burning" recently and currently playing Voltage Inc's newest idol title "PLUST".
  • Kit Kat ice creams (they look like these)~ I love how the chocolate melts instantly in your mouth. Both are tasty but now I really want one or two of the Gold flavour... *sigh*
  • Filament. This game... this game!!! It's a puzzle game but I'm surprised by how obsessed I am with the puzzles. It haunts me! I can see the game in my mind (Tetris effect at work), it's so crazy! Whenever I'm stuck, I tell myself to quit the game and get some rest... then a couple hours later, I'm back into the game ahhhhh
⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

I finally finished "The Sirens of Titan"! What a trip that was. And for that ending??? I mean, the ending is fine but kind of sad IMO... Still not a fan of his writing style though. Will I attempt-read his other books? Probably, since I have a two more of them (unread). I don't have his other popular books though (like "Slaughterhouse-Five" and "Cat's Cradle").

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Today marks the day I wear that T-shirt. What am I talking about? There's a T-shirt I got through a club I was in (Form 4). Yes. I was in the Anti-Drug Club in school. That red T-shirt. I don't remember the reason anymore but this shirt was never used (or maybe only briefly used during one of our club activities? I really don't remember). I found it again when I was organising my shelf so now... I'm finally using it as intended(?).

The Malay translation of "Persuasion"~

Same translator with "Angkuh & Prasangka". I love the fact that they started with my two most favourite Jane Austen novels XD... Don't know if they'll continue with her other novels but I most probably will try to get them all.

Purchased via their Shopee shop.

Cover:

Simpler design
Oh yeah.. They also have the Malay translation for Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" [Tuan Gatsby].

Also, just knew today that they have a [physical] shop in KK, Sabah (@BiblioKK on Twitter). Haven't been in Alamesra for so long so I have no idea where they're located lol but I might want to go check them out later.

I don't know... I don't really have any needs for a new SNS account. I did try checking out some new names (Mastodon - seems complicated / Hive [Social] - just read that it's offline as of now) but hmmmmm... One of the alternatives is Tumblr - got that one covered, at least lol - but I think I lean more to sticking to what I have now.

To be honest, I'm not really sure. Might even change my mind in the future. I... probably should go revive(?) my discord account, just in case.

Inconveniences

Posted in: 2022 posts | Life: Anecdotes

More water inconveniences today.

*sigh*

I know... at least we still receive water in this area~ Some places have/had no water supply for more than a week. But the timings - those changes - really can catch you off-guard. Yes, we can adapt to those changes... but it's just so damn annoying!

Anyway, now I just let the washing machine run after the water is back around midnight and wait till morning to put up the laundry outside to dry. There's a potential problem with this (I haven't run into it yet), if the weather is bad in the morning... then I'm screwed...

Oh well.

Just Another Normal Friday

Posted in: 2022 posts | Family | Life: Anecdotes

Woke up to no electricity in the morning.

Went out for breakfast early (partly because of that) with my family. Didn't return until almost afternoon. Saw a tweet on SESB's account saying the electricity is back so... it worked out nicely XD. I'm glad that I don't have to suffer by sweating during the day.

Other than that... just another normal day~

#SpotifyWrapped

Posted in: 1st post | 2022 posts | Arashi 嵐 | blog images | Spotify

It is out XD

I don't usually talk about it but since this year's have some interesting stuff, I'll dedicate this post for that~

I mean... it's just usually Arashi again so there's nothing much to say really haha

Top song is Arashi's "Bang Bang" (I shouldn't be surprised really lol because that song was/is on repeat since Nov last year)

I even have it added more than once in a playlist LOL

These are what I thought interesting:

I usually stick to familiar ones and don't tend to go look for new ones. I did want to try, like, make it more varied but oh well... sometimes the usual stuff is enough for me haha. I might try listening to albums more for next year instead of just one or few songs from the album. That's what I would do in the past if I still use my music CDs.

...okay that's all, I'm off to finish reading "Silent Parade" today!

Messed Up

Posted in: 2022 posts | Life: Anecdotes | My Salty Side | No Mood

Got so angry in the morning. I thought the water supply was fine for doing laundry (since it's before 8am) and it wasn't!

I know there's some water rationing thing going on - *screams* AAAARGGGH - I just wish they would tell the time and/or post some notice on their website... so annoying!

Ended up doing some purging in the kitchen because I need to burn this anger off. It definitely was a day full of curse words (which were mostly just "stupid" and "pig"). At least the kitchen looks cleaner.

Oh yeah, also started watching "The Lost City" on TV. Had to stop when the TV started flickering again *sigh*. Got interested with the movie after seeing the trailer in one of those Youtube ads playing within videos. Enjoying it so far. Probably the only time I laughed today.

Submerged

Just finished playing "Submerged: Hidden Depths". Oh. Gosh. That ending. That epic ending...! I'm still trying to understand what it meant but oh gosh... it was so beautiful! I CRIED! The music is as good as I remembered it from the first game.

Excuse me, I'm going to listen to the soundtracks on Spotify all day while I attempt to finish a book today~
(Also, just realised the composer also did the music for "Unpacking")

Last Straw

Posted in: 2022 posts | Anime | Books | Family | Life: Anecdotes | Manga | Netflix | Reading | Shopping Bag

Went to Suria Sabah in the afternoon. My brother wanted to go there since last week so... I went along because I wanted to check the Popular Bookstore. Understandably, there were quite a lot of people there (since it's public holiday) but I don't think it's as many as the usual weekend crowd...? But then again, we were there late afternoon so maybe most of them had gone home XD

Not much to see at Popular though... Oh but I did see some Higashino books there (but not the newer ones). Did get another horror manga lol...

My brother wanted to buy a new pair of slippers/sandals (he wanted something very specific. It's something like sandals that can easily be converted into slippers) so he went to Skechers. Asked for another size of slippers he was interested in and when she got back - according to my brother, since I didn't witness it myself - the salesperson just threw the slippers at him (I guess she did it very rudely). In the beginning, she was already acting indifferent to him - he can overlook that. But throwing the slippers was the last straw so... he didn't buy anything from there. In the end, he found a pair he liked at Metrojaya.

Oh yeah, also went to eat at Teochew Chendul. Tried their Penang White Curry Mee(hoon) and I think I like it...?

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

So... updates for some stuff.

I've been organising things in my room. Just not the shelf I'm supposed to organise.

LOL

I mean... it happens. You plan to do A but you do Z in the end.
...I still have time though so maybe it can still be done :P

✿

Reading progress is... slow. I'm very invested in "Silent Parade" at this moment so I'm like not reading anything else until this gets finished. The problem is... I procrastinate reading so I'm still not done XD...

✿

Been watching "Romantic Killer" on Netflix recently. Not finished yet but I'm enjoying it so far (it's hilarious!). The otome gaming/dating sim stuff is so relatable because I always see similar stuff in my games.

Haven't caught up with newer episodes of "SPY x FAMILY". I started re-watching from the beginning again on Netflix and... you guessed it... I barely make any progress with it.

Voices

Posted in: 2022 posts | Life: Anecdotes | My Salty Side | No Mood | Youtube

Yesterday, someone (TV technicians, I think?) went to take a look at the TV. It seems like the TV knew they were coming and didn't start flickering until the very last minute XD... Anyway, they said the problem is the screen(?). We still need to wait at least a week for the replacement part...

...and we're having water problems again... It's probably low pressure again because we have water upstairs but in the kitchen, there's almost none. Unfortunately, this makes it hard to do laundry :( Seeing the piles of unwashed laundry stresses me out...

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Saw this TwoSet Violin video last night. Had to dig some reddit posts (where I found this newspaper article) to read about the drama. I'm like a month late to this lol... but saw some replies to their tweet on Twitter... which just made it easier for someone@me to block them on Twitter (also the QRTs! Someone said it's the perfect blocklist and I agree!).

Anyway, the video made me recall a Switchfoot music video (featuring Lindsey Stirling) - the title of this post is the song title - which also shows real hate/horrible comments they received. Other than being a reminder that people like that exist in this world, I love how they turned those comments into something non-negative in the video.

Received this book today. Found it on BetterWorldBooks. Yes, yes... haven't started reading her books yet but since I have two books from this Penguin Modern Classics series, I [kinda] wanted to complete it...?

"Lust, Caution" by Eileen Chang

Foxing

Posted in: 2022 posts | Books | Online Shopping Bag

Currently I'm [also] sleepy lol... Did some organising (late afternoon) in my room but it's not bookshelf-related haha

Received three books in the mail today. No photo(s) 'cos I'm lazy haha.

One book is Orwell's "Animal Farm". YES, I've already read it. I just want a book that's not combined with 1984. Opted for a less expensive(?) version (mass paperback).

The other two are Natsuo Kirino's books. Preloved copies. Wanted to try reading her books but buying new is too risky and expensive. The ones I purchased ("Grotesque" and "Out") though... *sigh* "Out" is mass paperback[-sized], so kind of not surprised to see its yellowed pages but "Grotesque" was full of foxing stains. Was afraid of that but I went with it anyway (the books were under RM10 each!). At least it doesn't smell mouldy so I'm grateful for that. Did plan to buy new copies if I do end up liking her books. Nothing wrong with foxing (I can even accept minor ones) but I realised I'm one of those who prefer not to have them so... just a matter of preferences, I guess.

I'm Sleepy...

Posted in: 2022 posts | Family | Life: Anecdotes | Piano

My brother is back in KK and... we finally can retrieve the data from the old computer. Apparently you just need this something where you put the hard disk drive inside and now you can plug it into the computer just like a usual external hard disk drive. Lol.. I hope that was easy to understand. Currently I'm feeling sleepy and I don't think my sentences are forming well.. There are others way to do it but we found something called HDD docking station at Karamunsing which makes it easier to do.

Tried accessing the [main] drive C from the old computer and couldn't find some files (aka my collection of digital piano sheets *saaad*)... man, that hard disk is so bad. I mean, I tried using Recuva with it and saw many Microsoft stuff (I assume the important ones) got overwritten by other data... So my pdf files probably ended up the same way :(   I'm so sad.... But at least I got most of my phone screenshots (and my IrfanView batch setting files!!! OMG these are so important because I've found the best crop settings and I forgot to backup the numbers in my Keep~)

Posted in: 2022 posts | Interest: TV | My Fangirl Side | Netflix

I actually finished watching two movies on TV/Netflix today.

First was "New Kung Fu Cult Master 1" which I quite enjoyed (but again, I've always loved Zhang Wuji's story so I'm biased...). Anyway, it amused me greatly that Wuji is portrayed by Raymond Lam while his father is portrayed by Louis Ku. Have always thought they look kind of similar so seeing them acting as father and son feels right for some reason XD. I'm not familiar with all adaptations of YTTLJ but I love noticing stuff from other YTTLJ adaptations in the newer ones. This one has the same actor for Xie Xun from the 2003. Also, did I hear Emil Chau's song (from 1994's adaptation, also as theme in 2019's) in the background???

Second one was "Morbius". Kind of liked it...? Gave it a thumbs up on Netflix. I don't get the hate it got months ago (I don't even get what the meme means lol but that's kind of funny). Weirdly, the minute this ended (including the post-credit scene), the TV started doing its flickering problem XD *that's kind of you to wait for the movie to end loool*

Day 2

Posted in: 2022 posts | Life: Anecdotes | Reading | Spotify

Sleepy.

Day 2 of having people-doing-stuff-on-the-roof. Luckily, they already did the roof part on the bathroom yesterday so I don't have to worry about that today lol.

I can see the sunlight from above in my room (why? because I have a hole in my ceiling lol) ... have I ever mentioned that I kind of want a skylight/roof window??? 'Cos I do! Think about the natural light one can have! (but then there's also the scary side of having one to be considered)

Anyway, I started reading "Silent Parade" few days ago. And since this one has a movie adaptation, I've been reading the book while listening to the movie's soundtrack on Spotify lol *so extra lol* Was hoping to find the original jdorama soundtrack but that isn't available :/

Crazy Weather

Posted in: 2022 posts | I Need to be Distracted | Life: Anecdotes | Reading | The Weather Looks...

I'm really in need for some distractions today *sigh*

Yeah.. so back in August, I mentioned about our "new" neighbour... I guess they are not moving in yet because in October, there were some renovations done there. The funny thing is now those people (the ones doing the renovations lol) are on my house's roof instead. Well, that's not really a problem now but I really want to use the bathroom now lol.. Can't really go there while they change the roof because the bathroom ceiling collapsed(it did!) years ago. Yeah... there are many problems in this house, and we keep getting new ones every week lol (Also, the TV started flickering last night so... I guess that's another problem added *bitter laugh*).

Anyway, can't concentrate on my books because of nature's call (HAHA) so I'm making this post for today while I wait. I think they are going to stop soon because it suddenly started raining heavily minutes ago (although at the moment I'm typing this it has calmed down again, such terrible weather we're having here in KK~)

The End.

Posted in: 2022 posts | blog images | Pick-A-New-Book Jar | Twitter

I'm doing a bit digital cleanup... so on Twitter, I saw this:

Who are these people?????

WTH happened while I wasn't there???? LOL

*probably an hour later*

Got my following list to under 100(!!)~ From 121 to 93! Unfollowed some inactive account but kept a few for sentimental reasons. Also unfollowed info dump and bot accounts. Kind of forgot how therapeutic this is... Did feel a bit sad unfollowing some of those that I followed for years, but it has to be done. I'm still seeing tweets from unfollowed accounts though in my timeline though.

Will do for Tumblr later...

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

It's Sunday, so it's time to pick a new book from the jar!

Three titles left! It doesn't feel mysterious anymore because I know what they are. One non-fiction, one Sci-Fi and one romance XD

Should I just pick out the reading order today? Or maybe I'll just do that next week? On second thought, I think I'm just going to read that non-fiction one now/later (as part of this)... so that means I'm doing double today lol

So... *shake shake* *picks one*

First title I got is... "The Left Hand of Darkness" by Ursula K. Le Guin! A book I purchased a year ago. Been waiting for this lol

...that automatically makes "The Piano Man Project" by Kat French the book to read for next week!

It's the end of my "A book in a week" adventure~

I did say I'll use the jar with longer books but I've changed my mind. I'm going to make a new list. I might take some titles from that jar with longer books (or just combine them). Might also need to revise the time taken to finish them. I hope I can get this started in December.

Oooh maybe I'll post something like report or something for next week. Best if I can get the remaining three books from the jar finished by then. If not, maybe end of November. It will be like a post dedicated to the conclusion of the first season(arc? round? part?) of Pick-A-New-Book jar.

Salty Tears

Posted in: # Ryan Reynolds | 2022 posts | Family | I Need to Talk About My Dreams | LibraryThing | Life: Anecdotes | Spotify | Tumblr | Uta no Prince-sama | Weekend Musings

Let me just list out some things I forgot to include in my posts this week:
  • Had a dream few days ago about alien invasion. These aliens came here and somehow "stole" our technology... I don't know how they do it but whatever technology we have isn't usable anymore. And they want to kill humans. It felt more like a thriller really. Fun... scary dream.
  • Just realised that I can't play UtaPri songs anymore on Spotify (they got geo-blocked)... :\
  • Yesterday saw this on Tumblr. Important Blue Internet Checkmarks XD... Loved that lol.. Saw some accounts who got it already, I think it looks nice :P
    • Also, Ryan Reynolds is on Tumblr... (Funny thing is I knew about it from an ask on Neil Gaiman's Tumblr haha).
    • ...It's probably time to tidy up my digital followings/subscriptions again..
  • "Buying another book already owned" has happened to my mother XD (... though it kind of serves as a reminder for me to start putting the books from the family bookshelves in LibraryThing)
  • So... I just knew from an e-mail yesterday that CIMB's Kwik prepaid credit card is being discontinued... I applied for that years ago because I had problems with linking my Maybank ATM debit card to Google Play/Wallet (it was during its early days). In the end, I didn't really use it much other than for Spotify's subscription... and when I buy games on Origin and Epic, I guess. Honestly, I'm quite glad that this happen. Now I don't have to worry about that card anymore.
  • Been having dry eyelids problems (mostly on my right eye) since last month... It can get itchy whenever I go out and the sun is very strong. Recently I've tried wearing an eyepatch when I need to go out to get the laundry (although it has been raining more recently so there's really no need lol)... I mean, my point of telling this is... now I can't cry freely [for fictional characters] because the salty tears make it itchy. Yeah, I just want to complain about that haha.. I have to stop watching or reading if it's going to get me teary-eyed... Damn, I can't even yawn - if that is even possible (sleep early?) - or I'll get tears in my eyes. Sweating is hell :(

...That's all, for now.

An 11.11 post

Posted in: # Mass Effect | 2022 posts | About Blogging | No Mood | Weekend Musings

It happened.

It wasn't January 23rd. I don't know the exact date but I'm pretty sure it's now... or since few months ago.

It's the day I feel like abandoning my non-existent New Year resolution.

Damn this feeling!

...Although it's kind of funny posting this a day after yesterday's post lol.. I guess I just want to acknowledge this. I've been skipping blog-posting more recently. It's not like I feel guilty or anything. I just think it's proof that I've been kind of unmotivated these past few months. Hmmm.. I guess it's a bit like a burnout?

So what am I going to do to deal with this?

Nothing much, I think. It's really a me problem. I might find new ways to get creative with my posts (say, what do you think of me blogging about my gaming adventures in the future?.... it might just be about Mass Effect but still.. LOL). Maybe make a non-rigid soft (rough?) schedule/timetable? (that I might have fun creating but won't follow closely lol)

November's Goals

Posted in: 2022 posts | Big Goal and Small Goal | blog images | Bookmark Collection | Online Shopping | Online Shopping Bag

Received this in the mail today~

It's Higashino's "Silent Parade".

...and here's the Book Depository bookmark that I got:

For reference(?):
So... this reached here on Nov 10th. A bit over a week late but not as bad as my experience with "The Poems of Nakahara Chuya". Just making some observations. To be honest, I'm just glad that it's here, safe, and in one piece.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

I guess it's time for that again lol

October's
(Very) Big goal:
Wake up early

Small goal:
Write something in diary/journal
It was basically a cheat month (when is it not??? lol) for my small goal. I only wrote once in my diary... so that's considered a completed goal XD

Also, October was a great month for my [very] big goal! 22 days!

Moving on to this month's goals~

(Very) Big goal:
Wake up early

Small goal:
Re-organise my bookshelf

It's my small goal from March! It was half-completed so this month I'm going to try it again.

Not the Ogre

Posted in: 2022 posts | Diana Wynne Jones | Reading

I finally finished "The Ogre Downstairs".

And I'm ahead the schedule. Kind of proud of myself today lol

I actually enjoyed the last part of it. It wasn't as dark as "The Time of the Ghost" and it's better when you know the Ogre is really just another parent learning to be a better parent (I guess this info is spoilerish #oops). I think I was just not in the right time to read it. I'm at this phase where I don't want to watch/read anything with family drama(?) because why do I want to invest my time in another people's problems? Something like that. I kind of knew that the Ogre will not be as bad as they described so I dread reading what bad things they are going to do before they realise that.

...also caught up with those reading schedules. I finished one book ↑↑. For the other book, I reached the page I'm supposed to be at yesterday... after not doing it for almost a week lol (I guess that's the advantage of reading it 4 pages per day haha). It would be nice if I can also finish that early...

Broken Plate

Posted in: 2022 posts | Pick-A-New-Book Jar | Reading

It's already November... time to pick a new book from the jar~!

Haven't finished those two books (and I'm super behind my reading schedule *sigh*)... but I'm still doing this~ probably will regret this decision later lol

BTW, I broke the ceramic plate (just the inexpensive kind) I use regularly for eating today... not saying that will be a good or bad omen, *haaaah* I'm just a bit sad about it and want to tell the world that this happened. Just.. random thing of the day, or something.

Oh, well.. back to the jar... which only have four titles left.

I got... "5 sentimeter per saat" by Makoto Shinkai.

Oooh.. one of the Japanese light novels that I have that was translated into Malay. Wow kind of excited about this. I do have interest in reading more of those that are available locally (in Malay).

Now I just have to find the book because I don't remember where I put it haha

Yesterday's Story

Posted in: 2022 posts | blog images | Books | Family | Shopping Bag

Recently my sister complained about the chair we used for playing games on the computer. So, my family went out to find a new one at Karamunsing yesterday. I tagged along lol

Maybe because we were out for hours, I was so dead tired and somewhat dehydrated when we reached home.

...also went to City Mall, because it was raining in the afternoon (my mother's reason XD). Of course I had to go to Popular lol.. Found more Japanese light novels that were translated to Malay. Also purchased another horror manga, three TSGS books and two books from the bargain corner (again, I forgot what the term they used for this).

TSGS #6, #9 & #10・Pembunuhan Ke-6・Would You Be My Sunday?・Gadis Cuaca・A French Novel・Fantasy in Death

They had this 5 books for RM20 thing there. "A French Novel" and "Fantasy in Death" were books I randomly selected (there isn't much selection there really).
The other three were my sister's books.

...so yeah, that was my Friday.

I don't know when I'll read them (as usual), but I'll read them... eventually. Some of these sound perfect for my flower-picking trips.

Friday Night's Movie

Posted in: 2022 posts | Interest: TV

Just finished another horror movie with my sister. It's "Grimcutty". I think it's okay. Didn't know anything about it but the synopsis sounded like that one meme I don't think I'll ever understand lol (is it real or not?).. Anyway, the monster does look like it...?

Also, I don't know why... it's kind of refreshing seeing millennial parents (I assume they are???)... Despite what happened in the beginning, they sounded more understanding(?) and quick to catch up. Lol maybe this is just me wanting to see the best in my own generation... (btw... isn't the "cause" of the urban legend shows how stressed most millennials are?). Not a fan of the main character's ASMR channel though. I thought I'm a fan of ASMR stuff so I'm a bit surprised. Maybe I just don't like whispers. Or I'm just tired. Oh well.

It was surprisingly sunny in the afternoon today. The whole morning was so cloudy so I was expecting rain.

Random anecdote of the day: Yesterday, I spent hours looking for something that don't exist in the first place lol... The mystery got solved today. Now I feel silly haha

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

And... the [risky batch] package is here~

Angela Carter's books that are available in BBW's Shopee listing.

Love ・ Black Venus ・ Expletives Deleted: Selected Writings ・ Wise Children ・ Heroes and Villains ・ The Infernal Desire Machines of Doctor Hoffman

Some of it looked short(?) so I might start reading from there...

Oh well. Did make some progress though, at night. Although... my pain from Saturday made it difficult. The 700-over-page book felt heavier than usual. So... apparently, it can be hard to hold a book that size when you have muscle aches in your hands...

Anyway, I do still think it can be finished within this week so... wish me luck?

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

We've been getting rain in the morning (and throughout the day) so it has been quite a wet day with no dry laundry. *sigh*

..I stumbled on some shocking news recently. While one of it isn't really new in that industry, the amount of time it happened really surprised me. I want to say that the news don't really affect me but I still feel affected anyway...

Also, I've been very mean these few days. There's a reason I don't like reading news. I will always get mad at stupid people.

Last Minute Challenge

Posted in: 2022 posts | Reading | Reading Challenge

It's funny that I say this after yesterday's post.... but I think I'm going to try to finish reading "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest" before October ends...!

No reason really~ Just thought it's going to be an interesting last-minute challenge(?) or something. If I don't make it, I would still make a big reading progress on it (hopefully)... so it's actually a win-win situation!

Tiring Saturday

Posted in: 2022 posts | Interest: TV | Netflix | On This Day | Online Shopping | Reading

Did a little... cleaning(?) today. Now I'm so tired (oh backache! XD).. I want to lie on the floor and stare at the ceiling lol.

Recently watched "Cabinet of Curiosities" on Netflix with my sister. It was good... except the last two episodes (it was very underwhelming. Imagine looking forward to the episodes to release the next day and then you get that?) . Okay, I guess the one with the birds was still okay but we were really bored with Episode 7.

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Going to make this an On This Day post! Only one post from last year though lol
Finished "The Lathe of Heaven" today. I... like the writing style.
Oh. It was when I got interested in Ursula K. Le Guin's writing style~

Speaking of writing styles... I realised I may not be a fan of Kurt Vonnegut's writing style. Also, recently I finished "Love in the Time of Cholera". Can't really say that I enjoy the story. Lovesickness aside, the book has some weird ideas on rape (I was cringing hard when they happen/are mentioned and nothing proper was acknowledged afterwards). I do kind of like the writing style though. The way he described an.. intimate scene was really interesting. I thought it was beautiful.

This prompted me to go look for her other books on BBW Shopee. Found books I don't have.
I did this again recently. It was Angela Carter. A very risky move because I don't even know if I'll like her writing style. I guess I would have to start one of her books when the package arrives...

Not sure if I'm going to finish another book today... but I can try.
I don't think I'll try to finish one today lol. I've started using reading schedules for both "The Ogre Downstairs" and "The Sirens of Titan". Had to, because I want to finish them.

Stronger

Posted in: 2022 posts | Manga | Online Shopping

I am stronger today.

Installed Carousell app on phone again. Searched for the thing I wanted to buy last August. Still available.

...now it's not anymore because I've purchased it XD.

(Good news is now I have a complete set of a manga series.. I can finally read the whole thing!)

It was Horror

Posted in: 2022 posts | Anime | blog images | Manga | Reading

Last night, I was reading one of the manga I mentioned last week. It's horror... and this "another" horrifying thing happened:

LOOOL

Almost teared it up like I normally do. This one was giving more resistance than usual so when I checked, that small part was completely uncut(?). In the end, I used a penknife haha

Anyway... ahh horror shoujo ka.... The one I'm currently reading is "Lubang Intip". Enjoying it so far. I just love how the beginning is like the usual shoujo stuff.. then I have to remind myself that this is horror, so it doesn't usually end well. Pretty messed up and twisted people right there.

Speaking of horror.. been watching horror anime on Muse Asia's channel recently with my sister. First was the "Theatre of Darkness" series. Currently they're showing "Junji Ito Collection" which I never finished before (forever stuck at Episode 2 until it's not available for streaming anymore).

Again, it's so weird that I don't really read horror books... BUT I will read horror manga (that was how I got back to manga-reading - I found a post on Tumblr). Never really read much of Ito's work (even though it was HIS story that I found on Tumblr XD.. so weird, right?) but I might want to read more of them after watching the anime.

Vignettes

Posted in: 2022 posts | Interest: TV | Online Shopping

A sunny Sunday so far. It looks like it's going to rain.

Decided not to pick a new book from the jar today. I think it's for the best.

Bought some books on Shopee though using the 12-2pm free shipping voucher.

Currently I'm re-watching "Avenue 5" again. Coincidentally, the second season is now available... so can't wait to get there.

I'm also watching "A Quiet Place Part II". Still think it's annoying - less annoying than the first movie so far but still annoying - and I'm not even sure why I'm still watching. Oh well, I can just let it play in the background while I do something else...

Manga Weekend

Posted in: 2022 posts | Life: Anecdotes | Manga | Reading | Shopping Bag | Weekend Musings

Sleep... is still messed up. I mean, I'm still sleeping but there's just something that feels different about it. Weekend mood is weird.

Went to Imago yesterday. Best time to go to any shopping malls is during weekdays. Not that many people around. So... of course, I went to Popular bookstore lol. It's great seeing them full of books again... with their expensive retail price tags. Almost want to buy the only Jin Yong book I can find there (I'm still collecting btw... Might read it soon because I'm like in mood for wuxia stories after watching "Legend of Fei"). Did buy some manga plus a light novel though (just the usual shoujo and josei stuff.. with some horror-themed ones)  so... I'm gonna go read them after this. Hopefully that will bring back my reading mood for non-manga books.

Have yet to Find The Answer

Posted in: 2022 posts | In Zombie Mode | Life: Anecdotes | Manga | My Paranoid Side | My Worrying Side | Our Water Woes | Reading

...because I was listening to Arashi's "Find The Answer"  when I compose this post lol

Few more days until the water disruption thing ends. While I've been positive(?) about it before... can't really say it feels the same now. Of course, you don't have to do laundry everyday but when I do manage to wake up early, it's Zombie mode for at the next two days. Haaaaah. Tried going back to sleep after setting the washing machine up.. helped a bit, but I can still feel the effects. There's also that option where I do it at night but I don't really want to do that...

Anyway, new neighbour [to the right] has started doing renovation works at their house. Heard that they need it done as soon as possible because they're renting the place out (so, new neighbours again?). I don't think I'm as affected as my sister and mother but... I do feel like going out nowadays...sooo I think that's proof enough how much I'm affected lol.. It doesn't really feel comfortable having strangers going in and out nearby. Also, it makes me feel paranoid (WHAT IF they are doing recon work on the side???).

Not much progress on reading "The Sirens of Titan". I feel like this one needs to be read slowly for some reason. That's worrying. Oh, well. I'll cross the bridge when I get to it.

I really want to binge-read some manga now...

Two Days

Posted in: 2022 posts | Dorama | My Fangirl Side

It has been two days... and I'm still thinking of "Legend of Fei". Almost wanted to watch it again. So weird. On a random note, found out that Xie Yun is an ENTP (or ENFP?) yesterday... which doesn't really mean anything other than me having another favourite ENTP character (Ryan Reynolds' is also one lol)

Xie Meimei

Posted in: 2022 posts | Dorama | My Salty Side | Pick-A-New-Book Jar

...just because I have one post titled for Zhou Fei. This one is for Xie Yun XD (it's his nickname)

Done!

Ahhh.. Finally finished watching "Legend of Fei"~~~ Now I'm freed from this drama! I kind of love that one of the themes is "Knowledge should be shared". That usually would be followed by "...except bad ones" but I guess they only get/focus on the good ones there *oh well*.. Ah. But that skill Ah Fei learnt at Great Apothecary Valley .. hmm.. they never really get back to that. (Whatever happen to one of the character's little brother??? I thought he died but it seems he's safe somehow and never mentioned again lol). Loved seeing Xie Yun and Zhou Fei but the other things... not really? The villains were super annoying that when they die it feels like when you see a cockroach perish. So annoying. Shen Tianshu could've been a better villain but he turned out to be quite basic after he lost his allies.

*long sigh*

Also finished with "The Early Stories of Truman Capote". I don't really have much to say about this one though. Just... I also want to do my best to write my own stories XD

Anyway... five titles left in the jar.

*shake shake*

*picks one*

I got "The Sirens of Titan" by Kurt Vonnegut.

...oooh now I'm worried. Didn't really like "Hocus Pocus".. I'll be more worried if it's written the same way with "Hocus Pocus".

OH WELL

It was Fine

Posted in: 2022 posts | Life: Anecdotes | Reading

Went out to Metro Town today.

Sometimes, some things are easier to buy at shop... *sighs loudly at the ridiculous shipping fees for certain stuff on Shopee*. Went to that one block with Mr DIY and AA Stationery. I guess it's good that we chose to go after 6pm. Free parking and not too many people around.

Anyway... might be able to finish last week's book from the jar today... or midnight/early morning. Was worried that I would dread reading it but so far the stories have been okay and... shocking(?). Yesterday suddenly had thoughts of revamping the jar (after it runs out of book titles). Hmmm... I'm not sure what to do yet. Maybe better to make another jar that doesn't need to be finished in x weeks.

So... I guess the jar for "longer" books will still be used in the end XD *what is this discussion*

Invested

Posted in: 2022 posts | Dorama | Forty Winks and More | My Fangirl Side | Utterly Distracted

*sigh*

Been sleeping weird since that day.

Ahhh really can't be sleeping like that anymore. I can't, I can't, I can't!

Also very distracted by "Legend of Fei". Currently at Episode 40 lol. Sorry... did do some FFing so I probably lost track of some side stories. I just can't deal with the villains sometimes - too much monologuing and doing bad stuff XD... I got too invested in Ah Fei's relationship with Xie Yun. I rather see them flirt with each other haha

Because of that, I haven't been going through my Watch Later playlist on Youtube... now it has a bit over 40 videos in it... #oops

Windy Wednesday

Posted in: 2022 posts | In Zombie Mode | Life: Anecdotes | The Weather Looks...

Very windy day.

Also woke up very early today to do laundry since the water returned around midnight. It's all about the timing! ...I was/am in zombie mode the whole day though *sigh*, but waking up that early felt good. Especially for my big goal XD. Will do the same tomorrow if the water returns...
