Reading
Feeling a bit more normal today. Compared to yesterday.
This blog is really turning into some kind of online diary, isn't it? Though I don't really treat it like I do/did with my diary.
Yesterday, I recalled this one book I read when I was a teenager. Found it at the family bookshelf and decided to read it again. It's actually a compilation of folktales from Vietnam. I used to love it in the past. It featured some interesting and intelligent characters. Kind of glad I can still enjoy it (except that story involving cats near the end; that still rubbed me the wrong way today) after my experience with "Grimm's Fairy Tales". The titular story still reminds me how much it's like a mix of "Cinderella" and "Bawang Merah Bawang Putih". After taking a look at the wiki I guess it's more like the latter. I enjoyed reading it despite snorting and eye-rolling really hard at some parts. Sigh... I've outgrown these kind of stories. Hard to read them now.
I'll still read them though. If it's short. I had a hard time finishing "Grimm's Fairy Tales".
Another thing I find myself googling yesterday was the term book snob. I'm still exploring what it means as of now but one of the things I found (I think it was a Goodreads group discussion) is, you're [also] a book snob if you only read/avoid certain genre. I don't really get it but it sounds like I'm one...? (since I do avoid several genre). I'm quite choosy when it comes to writing style. Hmm.. will read more if I'm still interested in the topic.
