*That blogthing quiz has nothing to do with this post.*
I found this article few days ago. "Top 10 Recurring Dreams and What They Mean". I had different recurring dreams for every age phase since little. I know they meant something. Do you agree that such dreams reflect the state of mind you're in during each phase?
When I was still in Primary school, the recurring dreams I got a lot were of being chased by I-dunno-what.
According to dream.net.au, “you are running away from or trying to hide from something you need to face”. It could be “a feeling you are avoiding, a conflict you don’t want to handle or a difficult memory you would rather forget.” SourceI think that's true in my case. I hid a lot and I did have some things I didn't want to deal with. Like losing my best friend in Primary 6. Difficult memories were in abundance too. (But I've forgotten most of it now.. lol).
I also had some dreams where 'water' (drowning or surrounded by water) and 'falling' were involved. The only similarity I can see here is "out of control". Hmm.. I'm thinking of something from Primary 2. I had a friend who sat beside me that likes to boss me around. I was still the quiet, bully-able me at that time. Really hard to say no to her. She cheated in exams by making me gave her answers - she even asked answers for her Islamic Education paper! (which I didn't take!). I think I've told some of my friends this story already (sorry for the redundancy). Sigh.
Thecuriousdreamer.com agrees with me. According to their dream dictionary, drowning indicates “overwhelming circumstances in real life, feelings of helplessness or hopelessness, or something feeling out of control.” It also explains that “one huge wave could represent… a challenge in your life” and a flood might represent “feeling like you are ‘over your head’ or things are out of control somehow in your life”. Source
Falling is definitely a sign that you are out of control. According to the curiousdreamer.com these dreams signify a loss of control as well as “a sudden lack of foundation in your life, such as a situation where ‘the rug is pulled out’ from under you”. Source
Year 2007 to early year 2009, I had "Public Exposure" (!) & "Lost/Unprepared" recurring dreams.
If you have recurring dreams that you are naked in public, I would suggest that you are afraid you will be exposed. Is there something you are hiding? The experts agree – apparently when you are naked in a dream you are revealing the real you. SourceLol. I don't know what I was hiding from... the dreams were realistic but hilarious. I wasn't naked. Just almost naked. Like I forgot to wear T-Shirt or I found myself wrapped in towel only (in a shopping mall!). Yes. Go on, you can laugh.
Smartgirl.org agrees with me (with a name like that, of course they would). Their dream dictionary states, “…to dream that you are late for something represents your fear of change and your anxiety about seizing an opportunity. You may feel unready or unworthy in your current circumstances. You may also be conflicted over decisions about your future… Dreams about being at school often mean you are feeling insecure about your social status, your abilities or your performance in a situation.” SourceI think those lost/unprepared dreams were related to my Pre-U exam and preparations. Huh. I kept getting my old schools and new school combined. Teachers from old schools teaching in my new school an vice versa.
There's another kind of dream that I found funny, amusing and disturbing at the same time. *No dirty thoughts please.* They are dreams that involved people (that you're not close to) around you suddenly being kind to you. I never even thought of having a crush on them (out of question!). I hate the effects. I blushed whenever I meet those people. Haha. I can't look at them without blushing for few days.
But I didn't develop a crush on them after those dreams, okay?
*And I repeat : No dirty thoughts!*
