Reading Lamp

Posted in: 2022 posts | Life: Anecdotes | Online Shopping Bag | Reminiscences

It has been an exciting rainy day so far~

Received reading lamps (they look like this) that I ordered on Shopee last Friday today. I've been sleeping with the light on for at least two weeks or more (I don't really remember when but pretty sure started in May). My sister reminded me about how this can mess up my sleep and I finally decided to get that reading lamp.

Haven't tried doing long reading session... but I'm very excited to try it soon! It looks perfect and since it's magnetic, I can just put it on the metal bed frame (like on top of the pillow).

Also recalled that I used to sleep and read like this in the past... Finished many books under a "broken" bedside lamp. It was functioning normally but without its stand.

Oh memories...

Deader

Posted in: 2021 posts | Me. | Reminiscences

Today I've been reading... my old diary of *let me check again* five years. There weren't that many entries but.. whoa.. I really poured out my thoughts in those entries, huh. I was surprisingly very, erm, perky in them. Past-me was trying hard to be positive(?). I called it false positivity this year when I roughly recall those years but... actually it wasn't really that. I think at that time, I thought that was the only way to "fix" the stuff I was going through. If not, I might've shut down. (There were mentions of suicidal thoughts but they were more of the "This is so bad but not that bad bad that I would do that" kind). There was also an entry about me getting an appointment with the uni's counselling officer... but I didn't mention the meetings in detail. Which just shows how much help I thought I was getting from that (-.-).

*sigh*

Probably shouldn't go reread the entries too much (or too long).. but the parts where I distract myself with happy things were just too funny cringey XD.. Once an escapist, forever an escapist. *claps*

I'm only through year 2013-2014 so far but I kind of know that I couldn't write like that anymore. If past-me was livelier, I'm like... deader nowadays. Which is not really a bad thing. I have tougher skin, very calculative, sharp-tongued when needed (or unneeded :P)... and I care less and less about many things. Which means what...?

...lol this ended up being a weird self-reflection(?) blog post. I'm sorry if you got this far :P

Day of Remembering the Past

Posted in: 2021 posts | Interest: Games | Reading | Reminiscences

"Day of"... I tried XD

Watching other people's playthrough for ME2 makes me itchy to get back to my insanity playthrough. [Me to me: Start small. Do more assignments. Avoid Overlord DLC. Save always. Save every time you can save. Save, save, save!]

⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰ ⋱⋰

Been reading a book from my ancient to-be-read list (lol). Might finish today. It's a self-help book. Decided to read it because I want to return this to the family bookshelf. Kind of funny reading it now. I'm already doing almost half of the things he said so that means... what exactly? XD

Anyway. Suddenly (randomly) recall that I had a favourite local motivational speaker once - Dr Shukri Abdullah. My primary school actually invited him once for a motivational seminar (for UPSR). I don't think I was in a badly star-struck moment but we interacted (I think it was a Q&A thing or something similar). So yeah, nice memories. [Wouldn't it be funny if I mixed up my memories and it wasn't a school event? Maybe I joined the seminar myself. Maybe it's not even during primary school...].

Yeah, I "ate" those kind of stuff in the past. Books like: How to Study...or How to Get Straight As. I don't think I followed them 100%...? I just took notes the ones that worked for me (ah.. so probably I did some trial and error thing in the process huh..). I seldom read self-help books now. I prefer fictional ones more.

This will be a post full of random things again. Just like usual.

I'm embedding some tweets I found in my Twitter timeline today.

*continues to scroll*

— John Wolfe (@JohnWolfeYT) March 11, 2021

Haha I don't think I'm very active in my social media accounts lately but that scrolling thing is so on point. So many times have I find myself continue scrolling even though I don't feel like reading anymore.

Just a reminder that everyone is still going through things you may not know about.

Be kind when you follow up about problems or missed deadlines, replies, or meetings.

This reminds me of the post I did in the past (which was also mentioned again in an "On This Day" post).

Received the metal book holder today. Seems sturdy enough.

I'm actually quite excited to start using it! Have to get used to the thing holding the pages at the bottom.

What do you do when you feel hurt?

I don't know how this came up but I was thinking about it before I go to sleep. When I started posting here again, I mentioned about healing in at least two posts. The truth is, I was feeling hurt after I quit my job. I don't remember when but I was told how something happened that led to me getting transferred and I eventually quitting. I feel betrayed by people I thought I can trust.

I still feel the hurt now but it's not as intense as before. I still feel like I can never forgive them. I guess this is the thing. Few days ago, my mother was watching something on the TV which [I overheard &] prompted me to say "You can't force someone to forgive you!" This is why I say I hold grudges. Passively, I think. Because to me, it's just a matter of giving a status (label?) and then move on with life. They don't occupy my mind all the time.

I do believe in forgiving when you're ready. I might find that one moment where I feel serene and I finally write it in my diary to acknowledge it. I know because I experienced it before. There was a person I nicknamed Akuma in this blog before. For a period of time, I was so, so mad at him. I will always give him the stink eye during his classes at uni. One day, all of a sudden, I felt serene (I think this is the perfect word to describe it) and I forgive him.

This is why I get so triggered when I hear/read people asking to "just forgive them" because who the heck do you think you are? If they are not ready to forgive, let them be. Don't give advice like that just to make everyone but that person [doing the forgiving] to feel calm & in peace.

Have I mentioned that I hold grudges?

Me on 15-Jan-2021

Posted in: 2021 posts | About Blogging | me on... | Reminiscences

Nowadays, when I google for something, I will stumble on some old pre-2010 personal blogs. Posts with grammar mistakes or in Manglish/Singlish. Posts about school, family, friends...etc. I enjoy visiting those kind of blogs. It's like a peek into their lives (and minds). I sometimes miss reading blogs like these.

I re-visited blogs I used to read in the past and realised only a few are still active. There are some who moved to new platforms. Most of the blogs "died", I guess. Maybe they have a new blog. Or they just don't want the blog exist anymore after they start a new life. I still think blogging is fun. I want to continue blogging as long as I'm still interested in it. Despite having zero posts in year 2016 & 2018 (I think I'll forever mention this empty years lol), yes, I will keep this blog up. Even if I only post a photo in a post XD...
[Instagram is there for that, you say? Unfortunately my IG is not public and I only add people I know there. *I'm not even active there lol* Isn't it weird that I'm not using Facebook even though I use their other stuff?]

Haha if you see my old posts, you'll know that I always experiment in my posts.. just for fun.

This place is my personal blog. You'll see a mix of things here.

Haaah... another weird post today, huh.

Losing Interest

Posted in: 2019 posts | NaBloPoMo | Personal Thoughts | Reminiscences

One of my worries early this year was I feel like I was losing interest in things I love and always do. It was scary. It's like getting lost. Sometimes I would question the meaning of being alive when there's nothing to excite me anymore. In the middle of the year, I started feeling like I'm becoming a true hikikomori. I don't want to leave the house, I don't want to meet people - Basically: "Please. Just leave me alone". But of course, they remained only as feelings because most of the time, reluctantly, I have to go out of the house. Sometimes I was fine but there were days where I got so worried of going out & I thought someone was going to kill me. Was that anxiety? I don't know.

What's funny though was some of my interests & habits from SPM years resurfaced. The art thing I mentioned before, that was probably part of it. Also, I got insomniac again. I.. really don't know what's going on in my mind anymore.

Sorry if what I wrote seem jumbled up. I'm still trying to organise my thoughts. I tried writing into my diary again this year but couldn't make it a daily habit. Kind of hoping that blogging actively again will help with that.

Saturday 9 [June 25th ed.]

Posted in: 2011 posts | Blog Meme | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Interest | Life | Me. | Ohno Satoshi 大野智 | Reminiscences

Blog meme from here.

"Make You Feel My Love"

1. What has someone done unusual to make you feel their love?
There are many... but one thing that came to mind instantly when I saw this question is something that happened eight years ago. 2003. I forgot to bring a history reference book to school. The teacher was a scary one so I was afraid all the time before his class (in the noon I think). Two of my best friends that were sitting beside me each brought me a reference book they borrowed from someone else (at different times). In the end I had two books (& if my memory doesn't fail me, the class was cancelled or the books weren't used at all :D)... I always feel the same warmth I felt at that time every time I recall this story.

2. Do you own a smart phone? If yes, is it everything you wanted? If no, how seriously have you considered a purchase of the new smart phone?
Yes. It isn't perfect but it was what I wanted in the beginning. I've always been interested in machines/devices with touch screen since little.

3. Have you ever camped out to purchase something?
No.

4. What is your worst habit?
Procrastinating.

5. What is your best habit?
Able to catch on/pick up something (knowledge, information, change of atmosphere...) quickly *sometimes I lie :P*. I don't know if you can call this a habit but it's the only thing I like about myself, so let me call it my best habit for now. Sometimes it doesn't work well. Like for math.

6. In your opinion, what is life's greatest mystery?
Ohno Satoshi. It's my life's greatest mystery.

7. Are you one of those people who is constantly busy with projects, social outings, etc. or do you just like to lay low and stay home?
I generally don't like to go out (socializing?) unless it's family members (including relatives) or friends I'm close to. I always have something I want to do at home. My personal projects have no ends. I do like to travel or go on sightseeing trips though.

8. Whether you're busy all the time or like to just chill, have you always been that way?
Have always been like this since ten years ago...

9. Is there something you'd like to change about how you spend your time? If so, what is it? If not, why not?
Hmmm. I don't really want to change anything... except the time I spend for studying Math. I want to believe that the time spent to study ensures that I could develop interest in the subject, be more familiar with the subject and able to answer well in exams/tests. This is because when it involves subjects I don't really have genuine interest in it, I'm not convinced that I have studied properly. Maybe this sounds confusing..doesn't matter. It's enough that I understand this problem alone. XD

I've seen Arashi's "Training Camp"!!! Love the sight of Arashi + piano. And WHOA. I was impressed by Sho's piano rendition of "Hatenai Sora". Two Thousand Ten

Posted in: 2011 posts | Arashi 嵐 | Blog Post Collection | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Interest | Learning French Language | Nonsense | Ohno Satoshi 大野智 | Reminiscences

Just thought of doing this because I did a post on my year 2009, I want one for year 2010 too!

But I'll do it in this style : Past, Present, and Future.

Past : First Half (January-Jun 2010)
2010 was EVENTFUL. I did another NaBloPoMo challenge for January 2010 (which explains why there were so many odd posts in that month XD). My sister went to Selangor for PLKN. Semester 2 started and I did a few posts on my classes and happenings in university. I still have studying problems as usual. I made a checklist to help me but that was a total failure LOL. I also did a blog meme (did many but this one is special) that gave out interesting results.

Gosh! The difference between now and then!! Most of my posts are laid-back and some are personal thoughts... And I was still obsessed with Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato (Camp Rock effects, thank you).

Past : Second Half (July-December 2010)
From past experience, I usually don't blog much in mid-year. I don't remember much for 2010 too. Unless it's my obsession, course. Looking at my Tumblr's archive, it started with "Nodame Cantabile" in September.

And then Ohno Satoshi happened. It was declared in a tweet on Sept 26th.
Ohno Satoshi. Crush. *Hazukashi!!!* :") #maou

Maou.

Life is never the same again after I entered the Arashi fandom.

Pre-Present
It's going to be the 5th semester this coming semester. & I SCREWED UP A LOT. One VERY IMPORTANT fact that I realised in the 4th semester (DISASTROUS)- I don't like Maths. WHAT THE HECK. It took almost 2 years to finally accept this fact. TOTALLY SCREWED UP.

Some things changed last semester. Like suddenly having no motivation to go to French classes. That was so weird. It's like I never wanted to learn French in the first place. But I will continue learning the language though because it's my dream to be able to talk gibberish in several languages when I'm in panic mode.

Present
No more Yamashita Tomohisa. No more Joe Jonas. No more. Ohno Satoshi is different. Who would have thought it would come to this? The me who didn't care to buy any Arashi singles in the past ("NEWS' singles/albums are more important" thoughts) is now desperate to find extra money for Arashi's singles/albums/Live DVDs XD. That Ohno... is irresistible. He was always invisible to me but when I finally saw him, the other members are blurred out perfectly now. *starts talking nonsense* XD

Because of Ohno Satoshi & Arashi, I re-developed wishes to learn japanese again and it was smooth-sailing unlike last time. It's like... because I have a reason, I can stay interested. I see that it's really important for me to really want to learn a language to get the grasp of it. It's totally different from just wanting to learn for the sake of learning new things.

Future
Something I don't want to think of now

Blog meme from here.

"Long December"

1. Looking back at it now, how were your holidays and your time on New Year's Eve?
Always full of Ohno Satoshi and Arashi related things. I don't remember much about New Year's Eve (don't really care anyway).

2. Do you have any unusual collections?
I collect envelopes from hotels.

3. If you could train a machine to do one thing for you whenever you wanted, what would you have it do?
What would it be, I wonder?

4. What is one thing that makes you cry?
Current life.

5. What do you love to do on the weekend?
Currently, shopping! *Ah, my pocket money!!!* Though I usually prefer to just stay at home and watch something on my laptop. Or sleep because I lost so much sleep during weekdays.

6. Do you and your family get along?
Yes. Sure we had fights from time to time (and made up after that anyway), but I always thought that's the proof that we get along well.

7. Have you ever gotten kicked out somewhere? If yes, do tell.
It happened when I was in Form 6. We, the upper Form 6 students, managed the orientation week for our juniors. It was time for my Biology teacher to talk about his subject to the juniors. My friend and I happened to stay in the same room (usually most of us loitered there during that week) and the Biology teacher suddenly asked us to leave the room. Awkwardly, we did and later on, a friend from other class (humanities stream) told us that he talked about my class. He said we were arrogant students. (I even blogged about this before!)

8. Who do you normally turn to when you need to complain about something?
Twitter/my blog, family, friends. Not in particular order.

9. What is the last thing you ordered on-line?
T-shirts made by Malaysian Arashi fans from here.

----

RIP Diana Wynne Jones.

Answer of the Day (Not Really)

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Exams and Tests | Personal Thoughts | Reminiscences | University | University: Year 2

=====

There were two boys, A and B, who always went to school together everyday. One day, B was caught cheating in a test. A knew about it and told the teacher. B was then punished.

Moral Education question : “Which sentence in the paragraph shows that A and B are best friends?”

Student’s answer : “-- A knew about it and told the teacher. -- because A cared for his best friend, that’s why he told their teacher.”

Answer in marking scheme paper : “-- There were two boys, A and B, who always went to school together everyday. –”

=====

I don’t know from which SPM year that question was from (but maybe it’s a question from school level exam?). I’m not even sure if it really exists or not.

This was the only thing the lecturer talked about that kept me awake for awhile during Linear Algebra class today. Sigh. Why do I have to be sleepy on my favourite day & during my favourite class?

Haha. Anyway… I don’t really remember how the discussion on “Linear Independence” theorems turned into issues about current education system in Malaysia… but that Moral Education question brought back some memories from the past.

I used to think – I even stole my study time just to think about it– about the flaws in the current education system. The fact that one can just memorise to get good grades/marks frustrates me. Part of it is personal. I am not someone who could memorise things easily… but that’s not because I have poor memory. I just don’t believe in it. I don’t believe that someone can be knowledgeable and possess wisdom just by memorising. It’s a bit insulting to the beauty of knowledge, don’t you think?

I used to think of it in black and white back then (form 4 & 5, 5-6 yrs ago)… now? Not so much (tiring!). I try to assure myself that everyone is unique thus they have their own unique ways of teaching themselves. Instead, most of the time, I try to comfort myself that I am me, their unique ways don’t work for me & I don’t have to worry if I learn from a different route. And it’s not easy. It’s still hard now because I keep seeing how my methods don’t give out results as good as those “gifted-in-memorising” students.

But just when I start feeling doubtful, my lecturers gave out their opinions on the education system which were similar to mine at random occasions during classes. I was awaken and reminded again of what I believe in. [Yappari. Getting into a university is a good thing. ^_^]  Few weeks ago, in French class, my lecturer (a foreigner) talked about how the teachers in her son’s school expect her to send her son to tuition centres (or get a tuition teacher for him). She doesn’t want to do that. And then, there was a heated discussion between her and one of my coursemates (I can see that he is one of them), no shouting was involved but it got me excited… like today. It felt different [good kind of different] hearing those opinions from someone who has different cultural background and different teaching experiences. Somewhat it makes me think “There’s still hope.”

Whoa. Didn’t expect this post to be this long. I’ll stop here… I don’t know if my points came across clearly but to get this thoughts out here again like old times.. Ah. Good times, good times.

Posted in: 2010 posts | blog images | Blog Meme | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Life | Me. | Reminiscences | University: Year 2

September is leaving... :/

Anyway. Another blog meme - interesting questions!

(Join this blog meme here)

-----

"Just Like Me"

1. Who in your life do you think behaves and thinks the most like you do?
While I have some friends that think like the way I do, I confess I never found someone who is like me. I don't even know if I want to meet that person. (I did found some fictional characters from books and TV dramas that seem to be similar to me.)

2. As a kid, were you ever wrongly accused (and punished, if it went that far) for something you didn't do? If so, what was it? What happened?
Ermmm... there's one, but it's nothing big. When I was in kindergarten school, during a class, the teacher walked out for a while and warned us not to be noisy. She proceed on drawing an ugly face on the chalkboard. She said she will write the name of the person who made noise during her absence under the drawing. As expected, some of my classmates made noise. I kept quiet. Then the teacher returned. She asked us if someone had been noisy. One of my classmates said my name.
That drawing
And then my name appeared under the ugly face.
(If you're wondering why I even bother creating that image... I actually made this two years ago for my fiction blog ;P)

3a. What about as an adult, were you ever wrongly accused for something you didn't do?? Do you think it's worse to be accused as a child or an adult? Why/why not?
Can't think of any. Actually, I am tired of being a reserved, goody child/teen - so I try to stop being one. It started when I began talking back to my parents - then some other things happened, causing me to change my ways again - then... now... I've become more of the defensive sort (to people who knows me : if you never saw me like this, then you need to read this blog more often. XD). Still a bit reserved, but I wouldn't hesitate to fight if it's a life and death -ish matter. I seem to avoid confrontation if possible (this is only applied to friends and acquaintance).

I think it's worse to be accused as a child because a child can't defend himself because of limitations in vocabulary and knowledge of the world (how things/relationships work; Dos and don'ts etc). Well, this is merely based on my experience. Different people have different childhood experiences.

3b. What’s the scariest weather situation you’ve experienced?
The Greg storm/typhoon in the 90s. I couldn't sleep at night because I was frightened by the strong wind.

4. If you could wake up tomorrow morning in another country, where would you want to be and why?
*blushes* I want to wake up in France. I haven't decide where yet (I want to explore!) but most probably in Paris. I chose France because I just recently realised my blossoming love for French language although I already started learning it last semester. Paris was because of Nodame Cantabile. (Geez.. I don't know how I got myself so immersed in Nodame Cantabile...)

5. Instead of going to work Monday, if you could spend the entire day doing something else--any one or two things that you absolutely love doing--what would you do?
Instead of going to classes on Monday, I would want to spend the entire day watching japanese dramas. Sorry, my current state of mind is like this.

6. What sites (other than meme sites) do you use most to help you post on your blog?
I usually visit http://thedailymeme.com/ (I found "Saturday 9" blogmeme from there). Oops. That's a meme site. Ja. Sometimes I get some ideas on what to blog from Blogthings by answering some interesting quizzes. But most of the time, I blog when I have thoughts that I want the world to know.

7. Check out a post on your blog from six months ago (March 2010) and tell us what is different now about your blog and/or life?
Terrifying! I had only one post on that month - "Bad Feelings...".
Nothing different from before. Especially this part :
"... but added with current happenings regarding assignments, presentations & mid-term exams - I can't help feeling overwhelmed and helpless. It seems like there's no change in my attitude compared to last semester's. I don't feel worse than before though because I don't have much expectations for this semester. I confess... I'm not bothered by my mid-term exams at all.. *which is a really pathetic reaction to have at this moment.* I'm more worried about my group assignments. I'm afraid that I'm not doing my part good enough. What makes it worse : I'm pretty selfish with my time and space. For me, every start of the week is a struggle because I seem to fall into a zombie-ish mode where I can't think clearly & focus on studying because of exhaustion."
*Huh.. what a pathetic study life I have*

8. What was the last photograph you took?
This :

9. Which fashion trend do you believe is the most horrendous and why?
I don't really follow fashion, so I can't say much about this. The worst thing I would call a fashion trend that I find unpleasant is ugly ("Oh my, that's so ugly!").

A boring 2006 post.

Posted in: 2010 posts | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Life | NaBloPoMo | Reminiscences | School | Yearly Digest Post

Read 2005's edition?

2006... The year I discovered the joy of watching JDorama and "Full House". Good distraction from my real problems.

Then... There's my SPM result.
*staring blankly on my SPM result paper*
*sigh*..... What the heck?...I got 6As (5A1, 1A2), 3Bs (3B4) and 3Cs (2C5, 1C6).... [it actually came out better than what I've thought!]

I decided to go for Form 6. While looking for a school that would accept me in Science stream (I wasn't offered a place in Form 6), I was also busy watching Kurosagi. I ended up in a school at 〇〇. Loving my Form 6 life...
Oh yeah. Mr K asked us: "Why do you want [to do] F6?" [Post : "~ Know What You Want ~" ]

I grow up with the idea (influence from my surroundings) that Matrics are better than f6 (which is not really true). Since I'm in form 1, I already set a target that I'll go to Matrics after completing f5. People said f6 is 2 years whereas Matrics is only 1 year. That's why at that time I prefer Matrics to f6. Moreover I was thinking of getting out of school quickly (because since the first day I'm in SM〇〇 I already could feel the tense, stress & tight competition in my class. I could't stand it, & wished that time will run faster so that I can stop suffering). Even when I was in f5, the thought of going to f6 never occurs me. [Post : "Proud to be a F6 student"]

*sigh* Now, I shouldn't look at my classmates as rivals (that's what I'd done last year.. No good attitude).. because my biggest, toughest rival is MYSELF. [Post : "First week in school [after lessons started]" ]

Today IN SCHOOL... This is the first time I met a person who brags the most in my life. Well, this doesn't occur me till I get home. I was doing some Maths problems & she approached my desk. Then bla bla bla bla & bla. After she finish bragging (Pengajian Am teacher came in), I felt so inferior-ish for no reason. Why? Why? Then only I realise she was bragging about herself! ne.. ne... What is she trying to do? Being friendly? Or trying to tell me she's better than me? A potential rival? [Post : "Trust no one." ]

Oh yeah. Another VERY important event that year :
My mum had her viva at her university today & she did it! She passed! (lol..dunno what to call it)... But she still have to do some corrections (in 9 months) before she officially graduate September next year.

Haha.. After all this years... now... no more extra burden (Her ph.D course did affect us negatively, positively, physically & mentally... often get scolded & all that)..well... She deserved her "Doctor" title.. she spent a lot of time, money & brainwork on her thesis.. [From : "Yatta!"]

School exam...
For the first time in my life, ...I feel good handing in my BIO 2 answer paper(s). At that time, I also feel satisfied because I know I've worked hard for this. Well, not hard enough but still better than before. [post : "more on school~"]

Teaser~~~
I thought teachers should expose their students to the world of possibilities. Keep telling their students that it's not impossible to do this or that. Although there might be setbacks & unfortunate events, teachers should still "let" their students know that there's "light" in everything. That when you fail, doesn't mean you fail throughout your life. *sigh* maybe teachers nowadays have lost hopes in their students. Unless they prove to that teacher that they are a "genius" then only the teachers want to help them. Why should it be like that?

Teachers do not think of their students as their own children. Why should they? They are not related to each other. But having teachers thinking that way means having teachers who do not care about their students welfare. & again, why should they? They are not related.

What an ugly reality. [Post : "Something..." ]

Quite an eventful year, although I didn't mention all of them in my blog.

Mundane Updates...
My final exam for Semester 2 officially ended yesterday.

While I think over what useful activities - that would benefit me next semester - that I could do during semester break, I'm reading blogs and watching stuff on YouTube again without feeling guilty (for not studying for exam)...

Some very important issues are being discussed in my family these few days & I'm getting headaches (but that might be because of my bad sleeping routine). But seriously. I never expected to think about STPM and MUET again. The reference books. The syllabuses. The discouraging phase & system. Reminded me of discouraging and evil teachers.

Arrgh. Form 6 memories. The not-good ones.

===

Maybe...
In case you're wondering how the book looks like now... (Twee... on Twitpic
As I have to control myself from buying any books whenever I visit bookstores (See #6), I'm re-reading books I have in collection and maybe finally read that purchased-years-ago-but-haven't-read books. Few weeks ago it was Russell Lee's "True Singapore Ghost Stories"... in which one of them perished in the washing machine (didn't finish reading that one!). At the same time, I'm reading Jane Austen's "Emma".

Mr Knightley remains as my favourite character in the book. Emma? Hmmm. I'm kind of surprised that I want to re-read this now. I still think that the story's slow in the beginning... but it's always fun to read Emma's thoughts.

I love the way Austen described the people in her books. Realistic and simple. But the only way to enjoy that is to read her unabridged version books. Abridged and simplified ones sometimes kill my interest in reading (& maybe prevents me from loving the book). That's what happened to me during Form 5. I read an abridged version of "Pride and Prejudice" that I borrowed from the school library. The story felt flat to me. I was kinda disappointed. Then I gave the book another chance two years ago - I borrowed the unabridged version from the public library - and... fell in love with the story (& Mr Darcy). It was amazing.

Anyway. Back to "Emma". I've always love BFFs->Lovers stories (That's a spoiler BTW). I think that's why I chose this book.

(I would really want to recommend this book to you, Mel-chan... but the slowness of the story may scare you away. What's interesting? The resemblance of the characteristic of certain characters to real life people around us. Oh. And there's also certain events that...)

Dead link removed.

(Eve, YUI's new song "to Mother"!)
I have never seen YUI playing the piano before. But I love the MV.

..also removed.

"Can't Back Down" is really catchy. It's stuck in my head now.

A boring 2005 post.

Posted in: 2009 posts | blog images | Delayed Rebellious Phase (Cringeworthy) | Life | NaBloPoMo | Reminiscences | School | Yearly Digest Post

Boring, boring things ahead.

Okay. There isn't much I can blog about this week... Haha. So I'm going re-read & re-post some of my posts from 2005.

Before that, let me enlighten you to a bit history of this blog.

My first blog was at http://〇〇.blogspot.com/ and I used the readily available blogger template. Simple and light-coloured. [Full URL removed]

Then...moved to http://fight-oh.blogspot.com/(current) but the second look was this. I love the blue flowery look. I was still sticking to simplicity for the design.

And earlier this year, in February, I started using this layout. It wasn't easy to edit it according to what I want but it was worth it.

My first post.
why I decided to create my own blog site---to throw in all my thoughts which nobody wants to hear.

In the future, I'll be posting a lot about what I think and feel (either in English or Malay, etc)...yeah..maybe I'll also talk about Alec Su...he's my favourite chinese actor/singer since year 2000...& now I'm stuck with his Yang Si Lang....
I'm a fan of Alec Su since Primary 6. Now I'm still a fan but more of a closet kind of fan. Haha. Oh, yeah. I never blog in Malay anymore. I do put a bit malay phrases here in certain posts but not a full post since this one. My only post in Malay was about my secondary school's Sport Day.

My descriptions were very brief. I couldn't recall what happened that day when I re-read this post.

A post in March 2005 inspired me to use "Fighting for Life" as my current blog title. The title of the post is "FiGhTiNg fOr My OwN fUtUrE".
I don't understand what is wrong with me! I have everything readied to assist my study and revision but it just seems that...

It's like...imagine...I have a good car with the most excellent engine...designed beautifully... fully-equipped...Other people's (my other classmates) car can't be compared to mine... YET, having all those is not enough if you never started your engine...Maybe I don't how to start OR I'm too lazy to bother about it cause it is a very tiring ...Other people has started their engines earlier than me & is winning...& ME, still resting under a tree by a lake with the car parked besides me...*SIGH*

I'm going to start the engine very soon...It's time to FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE!!!!!!It's time for revenge!!!
Seriously. What was that revenge for? Budak-budak betul. I think this was about the stupid meaningless competition (in class) I was talking about earlier. Can you sense the arrogance in that post?

I just realised I do like to sit in the front from this post..
I sit at front (first row) because I love it there. It is easier to ask questions and hear what teacher wants us to do...in fact, there are many students at the back who just can't stop talking especially when there is no teacher around. They are very *NOISY* ---I'll do anything as long as I'm far from them!
Once, I was late for Math class at the university... so I had to sit at the back. I was so annoyed by some of my coursemates behind me. They were talking so loud while the lecturer was (well..) lecturing. I don't mind loud music once in a while, but places where I expected silence (like lecture hall & church), I would be annoyed by people who make noises (& play loud music).

I have so many unlabeled "at-random" posts back then. I was blogging about school and then the next paragraph would be about Alec Su. Lol. Teenagers.
& BI... I was rushing to finish the 'directed writing' section...For 'continuous writing' I chose to write about how I prepare for major examination which ended up almost like my diary entry....
Quite funny, actually... the way I write looks like as I am blaming the school for my problems...
Lol. Actually I wrote the essay just like the way I blog now when I'm not satisfied about something. Funnily, I was one of the two students who got high marks for that paper. The other person was Vincent. The sad thing was, when the teacher talked about this, she forgot the name of the other person. The not-Vincent person. Haha. I kept quiet though when she asked him/her to come forward.

Oh, yeah. Did you know I caught chicken pox while in Form 5?... Glad it wasn't during SPM... but I sure had fun holidaying while I was sick.

Aug 7
hmmmm........still have fever & headache since yesterday....

I think I got chicken pox....(like my brother)....

weeks of staying at home...looking from the bright side--I'll have more time to surf the net & DL things~~
Confirmed it was chicken pox the next day.

...& thought a lot during sick. It was a long post... here's a teaser.
Anyway, the word 'friend' does not meant a lot to me anymore like before... I had experienced betrayal & loneliness... When you have friends, that doesn't mean you can't feel lonely... I do...
I had a change of mind after a few years I posted that. That was too dark and depressing (obviously it was posted when I was feeling depressed). I'm always trying to be honest (in telling about feelings) to my best friends now, even during happy or sad situations. Even if you're busy or far away from each other, you can maintain the friendship as long as you keep in touch constantly.

*This suddenly triggers a thought. Use my real name on Twitter?*

Wow. 2005 posts were hard to read.
Getting back to those gloomy posts gave me the glum of the day.

Moving on.
