OCTOBER
10/2
I woke up before 6am today.
Ha. Ha. Ha.

10/3
I got my Watch Later playlist to under 10 recently and it has been staying that way for days.
Oh gosh I miss having them under 10... It has been switching between under 30 and 40 videos these past two weeks XD

10/6
Ooh a Thursday 13 post
[ On #1 ]
Haven't started any Eileen Chang's books...
[ On #4 ]
I don't think I've mentioned it here before but... hmmm.. I never really finish watching "Scarlet Heart" on TV. The "schedule" (it was aired 6pm, weekdays) was just too much for me :P. I do remember this one scene that made a deep impression on me: I think they were talking about promising to be honest to each other (no more lies or something) and if there's something they can't tell, they'll just say directly that they can't say it.... Oh wow, it's so long ago, I don't remember the exact phrase anymore.
[ On #5 ]
It took some time but I managed to finish watching "The Legendary Life of Queen Lau"... Fun and wholesome. I got it right about her father. Still love the grey character but apparently the actor is very unlike the character in real life so that kind of made it a bit awkward to watch him... [Reminded me of when I read this book in 2021 and found this article while in the middle of the book. I consider myself a person who can separate the art from the artist but it's hard to continue reading/watching if I happen to know about it while in the middle of the book etc]
[ On #11 ]
Oooh I haven't been playing Peak... I probably should remedy that...

10/10
Unsurprisingly, the "Your Top Songs 2020" playlist had returned several times after that... In the end I tried listening it again (just the first song and then jump to the last song), and then proceed to clear cache from all devices (including browser). That has helped so far. The playlist haven't re-appeared yet so far.

10/12
Is this the post that marks the start of waking up very early to do laundry???

10/14
Been sleeping weird since that day.
*sigh* R.I.P proper sleep.

NOVEMBER
11/2
Oof... Haven't started reading any of those Angela Carter's books. I probably should do at least one this year...

DECEMBER
12/3
Speaking of doing laundry around midnight... recently I was desperate to do them as quick as possible (because there's a water rationing notice - it's for another area - but we try to be extra cautious with these things), so I hung up the second batch of washed laundry like less than 15 minutes to 3am. Got a bit creeped out when I suddenly smelled something like vomit outside (it could be anything! maybe not supernatural) and got reminded of my sister telling me if there's a sudden smell, there's "something" present nearby. I think if it's fragrant it's far... it's near when the smell is the bad. Well, I could've remembered it wrongly, it might have been the opposite... but imagine suddenly thinking of that at that time lol... I don't want to do that ever again

12/7
I'm definitely still obsessed interested in Idol subgenre media lol... Especially after rewatching UtaPri recently. Voltage Inc has released the English version of "PLUST" in the Love365 app (as "PLUST Loving U So True"). Haven't played that one yet because I'm in the middle of Claude in the Japanese version. I might... play his route in the English version one later since his route got released few days ago... I don't want to be invested but I really loved the part where MC is not a fan of them XD (the group she's fan of is also cool so I'm hoping they'll have their own routes later...?)

Haven't been playing "Filament" recently. Lack of sleep has prevented me from playing this mind-taxing game :P... but I guess I'll try to return to it for the sake of completing it.

12/23
I don't use Keysticks frequently but when I do, it helps a lot. I don't need to pull out the keyboard all the time.

12/31
Maybe not entirely related to the post... the "unfinished" feeling lingers throughout this year and I don't plan to do anything about it. I wish to do more new-to-me this year stuff so I'm expecting a lot of things will be left unfinished in the future.

Continuation to this post.

JULY
7/1
If it's not obvious enough, I kind of haven't done this recently:
I'll just start any random books but I won't make any commitments about finishing them. I might or might not decide to finish them.

I love the feeling of finishing a book more than starting one... So when I have many unfinished ones, it stresses me out. I might need to think of a way to not make that happen (it might just be finishing what I started, but that's okay).

7/2
Yeah.... haven't read all these books. I have vague reading plans for Eileen Chang's books this year so those are at least in my TBR list (lol). Nakahara Chuya's poems, though... I'm waiting for the right mood to read the book because honestly I'm not a big poem reader. Reading a poem a day is an option too, I guess...

7/17-18
What an aptly titled blog post ("Yabai") this was... I picked three books from the jar. Chose Wyndham's "The Chrysalids" which I loved and gave 5 solid stars to. The other two (that I found interesting at first) I also continued reading after that and didn't enjoy. One was boring and the other I couldn't stand the writing style.

AUGUST
8/4
Ah. E-readers.
Actually... I purchased one on Shopee in the same month~ A kindle paperwhite. Never did an "unboxing" post here because I know it's not going to replace my physical books. It's just going to be an addition. I don't use it heavily though but it's nice to read "Leftover Princess" on it. Also great for reading in between loading screens (or just any time I can steal while playing) of games I play :P
[I also had fun looking for its accessories]

8/28
I think I'm still in that deadly/survival game subgenre phase... though I can't find that many nowadays (at least the one available online legally). I'll be reading "Battle Royale" this year though... so I'm branching out to books under this subgenre~

SEPTEMBER
9/2
My Ryan Reynolds' phase XD? It still exists... although not many of his movies are available on the streaming services I have access to. Haven't finish watching Deadpool movies. Found one horror movie which I haven't watch yet.

9/2
...yeah... not done watching "Ouran" anime yet *sigh*

9/14
Speaking of horror stuff... Just saw a few playthroughs of "Carson House". It was scary good. Somehow got reminded a bit of the movie "Ghostland". Sometimes human can be as scary as the supernatural things :/

9/19
Unfortunately, I haven't done such writing exercise(?) even though I already got some notebooks prepared... Maybe this year???

Continuation to this post.

APRIL
4/15
Haven't read another book by Kazuo Ishiguro after that post... maybe I should after this...

4/18
I don't think I'm going to stop reading historical fiction books any time soon. I have quite a number of them... I myself is still confused why I'm reading a genre I'm not a fan of XD

4/23
Still opted to use Chrome Beta now (together with the non-beta one, of course).

MAY
5/5
Here's another thing that I haven't done in a while: writing in my diary.

5/12
Ah.. this book.. "Samurai Revolution"... I'm still pretty much at the beginning since that post lol. BUT I'm currently replaying Katsu Kaishu's route in BakuTen for another ending, so I'm expecting the return of curiosity later. Hopefully that will be enough to fuel my reading progress for this book.

5/18
Yeah so after this incident, J&T has gone to the bottom (to the negative numbers range even) of my ranking for best courier services in KK, Sabah. I actually reached out to Shopee so that I can pay for those cancelled orders (done!)... it clearly stated "delivered" in the order status thingy, I wouldn't be surprised if J&T put the blame on me later if I just keep quiet about it... so I took the initiative, before it gets troublesome.

5/21
Big mouse pointer is back in action!!! I did change it back to normal size before the old computer died. Now I'm using the big one again on the new computer.

5/26
Funny thing. I installed both Evernote apps again and this time I logged into the legacy version. It took too long to sync and it also kept bringing up the new Evernote app back to front (like it kept focusing on it even when I'm on other apps).. eventually I uninstalled the legacy one. I really hope I don't need it in the future...

5/29
...it case you haven't figured it out: It's skype spelt backwards XD

JUNE
6/2
Currently I'm still limiting my access to Twitter & Tumblr. The "rebound" activity I have on Reddit is pretty bad. Some nights I just scroll through Reddit endlessly...

6/8
So... that was such a weird, brief Stephen Chow phase I had there lol... I'll still watch them later if I'm in the mood because currently I'm in Ryan Reynolds' phase XD

6/14
Confirmed. The lamp works with long reading session... it's pretty bright actually so I usually adjusted the brightness on the lowest or second lowest setting.

6/18
...and the phone camera is back lol. I think it's pretty recent. Just realised it yesterday.

Q1 of 2022

Posted in: 2022 posts | About Blogging | Digest Post | Interest: TV | Life: Anecdotes | Online Shopping | Piano | Reading | Youtube

Decided to make this into a three months per post thing.

JANUARY
1/3
...still not going back to disqus.

1/5
Oohh... haven't been reading blogs like that recently. It's kind of hard to do that when I didn't have access to a computer (since I like multitasking through many tabs).

1/8
Oh gosh... My daily 1-hour piano practice thing! LOL.. I think it lasted less than two months...? I really want to get back to that but... the thing is, I'm faced with a somewhat complicated situation. End of 2019 and early 2020, I started teaching piano and since it seems like it has "calmed down" (??? BTW I'm in the doubtful, pessimist camp) I was asked about it again some time ago. The thing is... I have trust issues. PLEASE... JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!! :(

1/19
I actually got e-mailed about my expiring ATM debit card from CIMB last month. I asked for home delivery and I already got it (very fast! As expected of PosLaju lol). It seems bothersome though that you can only activate it through ATM. I don't know about Maybank though... I'll check Maybank2u on desktop later. Anyway so the answer to my own question... they'll inform you as early as 3 months before the expiry month, I guess??? [...Checked, done. Apparently, you can do it within a year before the expiry date...???]

1/22
Haaaah... been re-reading "Leftover Princess" recently. ...And searching for them on Amazon JP, Kinokuniya etc hurts my heart. Seems like they're out of stock everywhere. I wish I can get the ebook version (legally) but I don't feel like making the effort to do that... can totally see me succumbing to do this anyway in the future, especially when I'm feeling super desperate XD [after I typed this part out, I spent like 0.5-1 hour looking for place to buy the ebooks... *already got distracted lol* *yay, priorities!*]

1/23
Those books... Really glad I already finished all of them! Especially Joseph Conrad's book *SIGH*

1/26
Speaking of soups... I think I'm craving for them again lol

1/29
Haven't been playing Wordle daily recently... Some time after the post, I also started playing the Malay version one but, that has also been abandoned by me haha

FEBRUARY
2/1
Typical me... I haven't finished watching Nobuta on Netflix yet. Not in the mood.

2/7
Unfortunately, haven't returned(?) to this book yet. Maybe I'll try to squeeze this in later after I finish some of the books I'm currently reading...

2/9
Ah, the reading schedule generator. This has helped me finish several books this year. It works! You don't even need to print it out really, just write down the schedule somewhere. And remember, it only works if you follow the schedule closely (obviously). Here's a tip, don't be too ambitious. If you can't finish in one week, make it longer. You'll finish a book even if you only read one page everyday... so make it a month or several months (or years!) if that makes it easier to read a book. It will work. You just have to do it daily.

2/10
Post mentioning 800th post. If I'm not mistaken, this post is my 1000th published post in this blog... so yay to more in the future!

2/15
Still shredding papers today. Mostly with the help of a shredding machine (yes, it was purchased months ago). On the papers I can re-use: totally getting out of hand because I have more now, I haven't even use them much XD (should I start doing Math problems again? lol)

2/17
I never restart that knitted blanket project after that...

2/19
Lol... I haven't finished watching these. I think I'm still stuck in "Jurassic World"...? I'm not even sure if they are still available to stream/on-demand anymore *sigh*

2/23
Again stating it here, I'm sooooo glad I finished "The Rover"...!

MARCH
3/11
Predictably, I have more [new] bookmarks now :P... I might update the post later when I organise them again. It's not really necessary but it's fun to look back at the post in future... so the update is for me lol

3/12
Oooh so I did finish watching Toby Stephen's version... kind of liked it, but maybe not as much as Leonardo DiCaprio's version (you can really see the budget difference there). I would still recommend watching it if you're a fan of the book... just for the sake of watching an adaptation. There's a different vibe (more low-key) there as it's not as showy and grand as the 2013 version.

3/16-17?
Ah.. the first time I didn't post anything this year lol

3/24
Which is... reading a book from the family bookshelf~!
That was in March??? Barely read anything from the family bookshelf (ah.. but I did read that self-help book...). Not brave enough for this one yet. Honestly.

3/30
As of August 26th, my longest book read this year is now the Inkheart trilogy. I think this will stay that way for the rest of the year... I don't really have that many over-1000-pages books. Probably there are some in the other jar, but let's not think about that yet.

June~December

Posted in: 2022 posts | Digest Post

Not including all posts. Just posts that I want to add some kind of update few months later. This will be a long post.

A continuation to this post.

June
6/1
Five months into 2021... and I'm still here.

I'll try blogging daily this month too!
Even though they've become more like diary entries at this point lol
It's January 2022. Did that daily-blogging thing for the whole 2021. I also started (continued?) blogging daily this year but I'm not sure if it's going to stay that way throughout the year. So maybe I'm going to aim something like blogging most of the year...?

It really has become a daily habit thing, like writing a diary entry, and not doing it makes me feel like I'm missing something for that day XD

6/2
Ah that's when I finished the second light novel in the Kotenbu series. More than half a year later, I'm already on the fifth (I even pulled once from the jar lol). In case you're wondering: Since it's written "The next Hyouka LN", I just put it back into the jar XD.. that's how I deal with books with series for the jar. I also use #1 or #2 [or #nth] - so the recent one was "Agent of Chaos" OR "Devil's Advocate".

6/5
Ooh the blog prompts jar. Yeah... need to use that more this year (especially since I can't really do the "On This Day" post anymore XD *out of posts*)

6/11
That "weekly routine kind of thing" never happened haha

Still use OBS. Haven't used GIMP recently. Haven't learned more about using both... maybe I should do that this year.

6/16
*adds "learn to tie knots" to my maybe-to-do list for this year*

6/17
Ended up getting preloved Qiong Yao novels since that post. There are more on Shopee and Carousell if I'm really interested in reading her other novels...

6/20
Ah the day I decided to read "Something Happened". Had a hard time reading it (especially after the daughter chapter), so I finally DNF'ed it in December.

Also, the jar (aka Pick-a-new-book jar) has been featured (lol) regularly since August. Hmm... I should probably make a page for that.

July
7/1
Oh that compilation album thing... Recently I keep getting back to URA ARA BEST 2016-2020 - it sounds so good when you listen to the B-side songs in one place. Also, it kind of suits the mood I'm in now.

(I haven't seen that Tokay gecko again since that post.)

7/3
Whoa I actually read 3 out of these 5 books already ("The Professor", "The Gambler" and "The Color Purple")...

7/8
An update on that succulent plant: It's still alive and is currently living by the window in my room. XD

7/9
Daily piano practice - ongoing project for year 2022!

7/18
Quoting this:
Must always remind self this: "I shouldn't think too long about things that are out of my control. Especially if they take too much effort and time to do/maintain."

7/23
Ah the never-ending window-shopping for bookmarks. I never posted it here but I did buy some of them months later...

7/25
"Kane and Abel". Heh. I actually added this into my Pick-A-New-Book Jar... so I might end up reading it this year...?

7/26
I am doing that reading dates on the back of the books again! It's nice to have them on record like that. Yes, yes.. pretty sure future-me will appreciate me doing that now.

August
8/5
So... haven't reread "Emma" yet. I'm thinking this year but only if I'm still in the mood to read it.

8/18
Cold towel helps! This...! I'm very much convinced that my binge-reading of "Leftover Princess" caused those eyes discomfort. Do you think getting an e-reader will help with this too?

8/27
Ah yes the reading challenges. They're happening. Still happening lol. Oh but I haven't did anything with the optional third challenge. I tried with two books (at two different times) and then got distracted the rest of the day. You need to allocate a [free] day of your life with that one :P

8/30
The day I started using Pick-A-New-Book Jar...

September
9/2
Funny reading this again. Yesterday (or two nights ago), I thought about what if there's a lizard under my bed.

9/3
Probably staying isolated at home helps lessen the chances but... since that post, I haven't gotten any [heavy] sicknesses yet. It's kind of worrying but I'll still be grateful for that.

9/4
Ah... I miss finishing the jar's books within a week. Will try to get back to that this year. I probably will have to pause picking a new book from the jar just so that I can help myself achieve my big goal for the month.

9/6
Reading journals. Okay, didn't mention it here but I am trying to do that now. Find that it's meaningless if you don't read daily because there'll be many blank spaces :/  Ohh but it's fun to write down quotes while you read though...  unfortunately, I'm so bad at maintaining it.

9/7
The other jar. I've started using that jar this year - hopefully it will go well...

9/10
Been using Tweetdeck on-and-off now...

9/12
Fortunately I haven't reached that level yet. I don't own a large-sized set of playing cards, as of now.

Oh but recently I'm interested in getting blank ones... is that a thing?

9/13
Still bad at DNF-ing books...

9/14
Ahahaha this is so true
Been thinking about getting an e-reader again. I think about this like once every three months lol.
It's January, and it has entered my mind again. Mentioned about it to my family and they were like "Why would you need a specialized device for reading?"

But guys... my eyes are a precious organ. I might need the e-reader to read peacefully in the future.

I'm also that person who prefer physical books over non-physical ones... so IT IS questionable to even want to get an e-reader.

9/16
Oh right that poker thing. Should probably do that this year.

9/24
I don't know since when but it's now available on mobile app... I finally updated the app on one of my phones after that XD

October
10/6
Ah. The return of shady FP rider post. They haven't make another return since that post. Still not getting those food deliveries myself! (...yeah we still do food deliveries via Foodpanda XD)

10/11
I still revisit this idea of making my wordpress blog like a centralised place for my blogs sometimes...

10/12
Recently, I have trouble sleeping... but not because I couldn't sleep. More like I have something in mind and those thoughts make it hard to sleep.

10/21
OMG this post..
It's just that I got a bit upset last night as I "digest" what I read. There's a reason I stop reading those kind of sites... they just add unnecessary clutter in my head.
Honestly, I think stumbling on the forum site was really bad... it had a negative effect on my mental state for the rest of the year :( Can't imagine how more messed up their mind would be for the haters. I personally don't like feeling that way.

It's just words but they do say pen is mightier than the sword... For the sake of my mental health, I really need to avoid reading those stuff.

November
11/1
I'm so excited for the anime version of "SPY x FAMILY"!!!

December
12/8
Have yet chosen a different name for "Semi-DNF".. maybe should just let it be "DNF"?

12/9
My Watch Later playlist is almost empty today... I'm proud of it XD

12/22
Still in the middle of Season 2... this season is,  I don't know, I feel like I'm liking Yuki more (which is understandable, by the way his character got developed in the anime). I don't remember if I'm more of a Yuki fan or Kyo fan in the past but... I'm feeling that I'm going to lose many tears watching S2...

January~May

Posted in: # AI: The Somnium Files | 2021 posts | Digest Post

Not including all posts. Just posts that I want to add some kind of update few months later. This will be a long post.

January
1/1
Games - Ooh... Mention of "AI: The Somnium Files". Might want to play that again later. MS2 Insanity progress...  Let me just put this here again:
SAVE ALWAYS, ALL YOU COMMANDER SHEPARDS OUT THERE.
I do save frequently after doing a new Insanity playthrough although I haven't touch the game for months lol. The last thing I remember is being on Omega to recruit Mordin and Garrus.

1/11
Old Fear Street Books - Oh. I'd since wrapped the book covers in plastic (not the expensive kind). Haven't started reading any of them yet.

1/13
-I'm now a book collector out of space on her bookshelf XD.
-No purchase of new version of P&P but I have new books related to Jane Austen and P&P-inspired ones
-I've embraced the habit of reading multiple books at one time (helped me finish the 13 books list)

1/20
Mizuki's yellow jacket. I tried looking for something similar on Ravelry but found nothing. Maybe I can just try knitting without a pattern? Like try to make one myself. Will think about it again later. I haven't even finish my 2nd haramaki project.

1/21
Ooh mention of writing. Tried writing something recently. Haven't return to it yet.

1/26
"Do you keep a diary?" post. Interestingly, I actually did a similar diary post in the past (2009). I talked about keeping a diary in the 2009 post. I totally forgot about that post XD. Also mentioned that I write less in my diary because I blog more (at that time).

1/29
"Year's Best SF15" - I still have this weird reading mood with short stories nowadays. I didn't really enjoy reading TSGS #1 recently. Not talking about the stories. More about the short stories reading experience. The stories are very short there and I still find it a chore to finish.

1/31
-Haven't done much practice involving my left hand...
-I've been playing piano but not so much.
-Arashi piano scores... Still want them. I haven't even check if they are still available. I don't own any of them as of now.

February
2/3
Ah marumaru XD. I use it very frequently. Need them when I edit old posts with "dangerous" info about me.

2/4
Dictionary - I mentioned wanting to buy a Chinese dictionary. It hasn't happen yet.
Sleep - Still messed up. I try not to sacrifice sleep for books but sometimes it's hard to avoid. After doing that last  spurt (as the Japanase like to call it) at reading my 13 books list, I'm definitely not doing that again. Zombie mode went on for few days after that.

2/8
I think it's more shopping than window-shopping for books now LOL.

2/10
Oh yeah. The only exception. The only old Fear Street book I used [leftover] adhesive plastic cover on.

2/11
I never re-install Tumblr apps on my phones after that. Facebook ads still appear but I learn to tolerate them. Still salty about the part where I don't use Facebook but have to face ads from them (useless ad settings!). Just remember to factory-reset your hand-me-down phones before adding your accounts.

2/17
Finally made the jar few months later XD

2/23
Haven't shop using Lazada for so long. Done more online shopping on Shopee. Mostly books. Hehe.

2/25
Ah. The 13 books list. Half-believed I could do it at first. Kind of glad that it's over.

2/28
The day I realised (like really, really realised) I might not like certain writing styles. What people like to read might not be something I like. I learnt that I'm actually quite picky about the books I read. I have no time to waste on badly-written books so I have to choose wisely.

March
3/1
Libraries - Used u-pustaka quite often. Most of the time is just renewing the same book every week though XD..
Local library - Don't want to go out just to register for membership so.. I haven't done that. I still wish you can register online.

3/7
Blog labels - I did edited some labels. The progress is very slow but it's still happening.

3/10
I actually stopped using Toby for Chrome. My bookmarks are now syncronized across all devices. I like that but I still need to tidy up my bookmarks.

3/12
I don't use the metal book holder that often but they are very useful for thick books. It actually hurt my hands to hold "Six Four" and "Catch-22" long while reading. Sometimes I use the book holder for non-thick books too - I can see the computer screen while reading XD

3/13-?
I probably should return to cleaning/organising my room again...

Frankenstein. Something random I want to mention. I'm actually glad I finished reading this. When I see "Frankenstein" on sale on Bookxcess or BBW, I'm like "Nope, don't want that again." I'm open to watching movies/TV series adaptation though.

Foodpanda - Since that post, I never go out to receive the food personally anymore. I let my other family members do it.

Hyouka - I've read the sequel (the 2nd book in the Kotenbu series) and Chitanda sounds like the usual Chitanda there.

5/12
Blog prompts jar! Oh but I haven't blog even once using this since then...

I'm predictably unpredictable, inconsistent, random & eccentric. Sometimes arrogant and silly. Always curious. Read that again without the snobbish tone.
