Too Much

I'm... tired.

~~That's too much reading in a month lol~~

Finished the last half of Volume 3 last night and the waterworks were very active after yesterday's post. That really caught me off-guard. Pretty sure that's why I got a terrible headache upon waking up today. Okay, maybe part of it was because of lack of sleep and hormones but still... my eyes feel dry today! ...I am excited to read to next volume though so, tears or no tears, I'm ready!

Anyway... I just want to do some comfort manga/manhwa reading now so anything end-year/new-year stuff will have to wait until tomorrow~~~

Oh yeah, this is the last post for this year so that means I've posted daily for the whole year~! Yay!

...Not going to do the same next year though lol

On the Edge

Currently in the middle of reading Volume 3 of "Last Boss Queen"... my eyes aren't safe from tears too this time. Oh well.

Anyway, finally met another love interest from the original game, which is a prince from a nearby country. ...And seriously WTF? His backstory was so miserable... and to do that to your own family??? Original Pride was brutal as usual *shivers*... really glad that Pride did it differently in this timeline. This arc ends with a bittersweet feeling to it but I kind of could see that's where the story was heading to from the beginning so... it can't be helped. It's a better ending for him.

I find it a bit refreshing seeing a prince taking his responsibility as the heir to the throne very seriously. It isn't rare but not that common either (I usually found more clown princes in the manhwa I'm currently reading so they have been a disappointing bunch recently *sigh*). It's very touching how much he loves his people and his country. I wish him the best. I mean, I'm just a reader from another world lol but I still want to wish him that anyway...

Unfortunately, my short stories collection curse(?) strikes again. Or I'm just still not liking them in general *sigh*.

Anyway, so I finally started reading one of my Eileen Chang's books... I didn't really enjoy the short stories but I kind of dig the writing style...! I can't really explain it. I can make sure if I really like it when I read her other two books that I own.

n-year journal

Opted to use journal [only] in the title. ...and I love how it sounded like a pun XD

Saw a Youtube short a couple days ago about the 5-year journal and I just realised it's an interesting way to write my diary/journal...? I've heard of them before but I never knew it would look that way. For some reason I just thought it's a normal diary/journal(?).

I want to try it someday... the 5-year version might be perfect for me because of the length for each day. There's also the 3-year version... I don't think I can do that now (or starting next year) because wow that would be 3 or 5 years of committing myself to writing in my diary daily. I do think it shouldn't be hard to write at least a sentence about my day but to make it a daily routine for that long? I'm scared that I'll get bored XD... of course, it's doable, with self-discipline... but I don't wanna do that now~~~

The first thing I should really do is getting back into the habit of writing in my diary. That can serve as practice before I attempt to do any of that...

...and I meant that with the shocked kind of *pffft*, when whatever was in your mouth came out involuntarily because something funny happened XD

Finished reading Vol 2 of "Last Boss Queen" today. I've reached the part where the anime ends with. Tears... were shed (lol) but it's not as bad as Vol 1. Starting Vol 3, I'll be in unfamiliar territory. I'm aware of a certain major spoiler so I guess it's going to move towards that direction...? I'm soooo not ready...! But, I'll still read on because I want to meet the other love interests (I think there are three more? Considering Gil is a hidden route love interest)

Also finished an e-book that I started last year... on Dec 28th... bwahaha! I was a day away to it being 1 year even though it just took me an hour or so to finish it today lol

Last Boss Queen

I finally finished the first volume of "The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior" today!

It hasn't been easy because I kept crying lol... And sometimes I ended up crying twice for a scene because first it was from Pride's POV and next from other characters' POV. ...then more tears, if we get scenes from the original timeline. It's just like when I watched the anime *sigh*. I think I should be less teary-eyed after these two main arcs... so hopefully the next volumes will be gentler(?) for the eyes.

Anyway, in the end of the volume, the author acknowledged the title is long (lol)... I've already been calling the series "Last Boss Queen" but seeing this⇊ is assuring haha. (I'll create a label with that name here too)

It's abbreviated as ラス為 in Japanese which is "Last Tame" with tame read as ため (or ta-me)... the official website for the anime uses lastame which sounds more like a portmanteau.. so there's that too. I guess "Last Boss Queen" sounds better in English.

Airplane Mode Again

Oof I got a shady call today telling me (in automated operator voice) about an unclaimed PosLaju package. When it started telling me to press what and what number I hang up... it was calling from a normal-looking mobile phone number so that's surely not legit! Blocked the number straight away after that.

I'm pretty sure I don't have any unclaimed packages since I'm not expecting any (at least, not today). They usually don't call like this!

Found a post on r/Malaysia about it and apparently they'll ask your IC number, name and address...? And there are worse stuff that could happen if it gets further... like WTF! It's usually my other number that gets calls like these but now it has reached the number I use for official stuff. Seriously.

*SIGH*

I guess it's fortunate that the delivery men usually use WhatsApp nowadays since I'm going to put that phone on airplane mode for at least three days lol

It's something like Spotify Wrapped, I guess...?

There's a bit difference regarding the pages I read [so far] this year with Goodread's data but I won't think much of it lol... (I did add the amount of pages to those without it but it still doesn't match after regenerating).

Anyway, since LT has the almost complete record of my books, it has the most updated amount of books... including how much new ones get entered...

--"Unknown Author" is supposed to be Hideo Yokoyama *sigh* I don't know why the imported data from Amazon is like that

--Most books added in November... because of that one box of mostly preloved romance books lol

Haaah... couldn't watch any Netflix shows since they started stopping people from sharing password few months ago :(

This one is about anime...

Rewatched "The Saint's Magic is Omnipotent" last night while sewing the other half of the zip on my jacket. It was better when you watch it in one sitting lol..

Honestly, I haven't been watching much anime from this season. I guess the anime I watched from previous season really did a number on me since it caused an anime watching slump lol.. I did re-watch the first season of "The Saint's Magic is Omnipotent" and some earlier episodes of second season but progress is slow... I might catch up with S2 soon since it just ended (I think? I kind of recognised that thumbnail that looks like that scene XD).

Oh gosh~

I have a new idea for another reading jar (I really love my jars lol). A TBR jar!

Damn. I didn't even get the chance to use it lol... now I'm "scared" of reading jars. Okay, maybe I'll be okay with the alphabet thing I mentioned before but haaah... the idea is still scary (=reading slump-inducing)

Short, uh, updates...

♢ The two [VERY CUTE] black kittens were capable(?) enough to climb on (that, or the mother did it) the fence back to neighbour's house so nothing major. Neighbour's cat was just introducing her kittens to ~~another food source~~ us, I guess :P

♢ Made a Letterboxd account yesterday on random lol... I'm a bit surprised that the usual handle I use online ("ruyanda") is still available! Currently I'm trying to log all the movies I've watched (at least the one I remember watching lol) in the past there~

♢ I guess it is a month of window-shopping on Shopee XD... Now I'm looking at reading journals - there aren't much but they exist (and for sale!) on Shopee! Speaking of reading journals, I should probably update my months-abandoned reading journal *sigh*...

♢ Last night I've made a list of books I could or would want to read before the year ends... which I just realised a bit later that it's basically a TBR list lol......

I've been window-phone screen-shopping for book covers (and some book sleeves) on Shopee since last week. Been noticing that there are more of them for sale there since these past two years. There are two shops I'm looking more closely than others at this moment. One from Thailand and the other from Vietnam. Why book covers? Book covers are very useful when you want to hide whatever you're reading in public :P... (though it's not like I've been using them much recently lol).

It has been harder to find Silver matches so I've started looking for Gold(!) matches since two nights ago... that escalated pretty fast lol. I guess I really have gotten used to Silver difficulty that I can finally play some Gold ones comfortably. As long as all players are competent enough, of course.

Maybe I'll start tackling Platinum matches next year?

(after that I can try doing solo matches again???)

Pick-A-New-Book Jar 2023

Even though I stop using the reading jar, I feel like I should make this post as some kind of closure XD

This year I only managed to finish 11 books from the jar. Unfortunately, there are only three books that I rated 3/over 3 stars... so I guess the hiatus is inevitable *sigh* (I have two books with half(!) stars there #oof)

Will I still recommend this method to find the next book to read from your shelf?

Yes, absolutely! Definitely stop though when it's not giving you positive feelings anymore :)

Will I do it again?

As of now, no... since I'm in my semi-permanent physical book reading slump era(?). I am playing with the idea of something less rigid though. I have a jar with just alphabets on paper for watching horror movies so something similar might be okay? Pick a letter and find a title that starts with that letter.

Fangirling Over Rishe Again

Started re-reading 7th Time Loop manga and I'm falling in love with Rishe again~~~ Volume 1 is so, so, so good (great manga adaptation of the web novel/light novel series) 😭 I can't wait until they get to arcs from the newer volumes of the light novels... Falling in love with Arnold (again) will happen later as I (the reader) am still cautious of his motives (LOL I say this even though it's like the third time I'm rereading the manga haha #rereadingisgreat) but it's so much fun seeing him falling(?) for Rishe again~!

Despite what I said way back in September, I've yet continue reading the web novel (because I got distracted by manhwas muahaha)... might actually do it this year as part of "Things I want to read before the year ends" stuff 😅 ...although not reading is a nice option too, since the fifth volume of the light novel (English translation) is coming out in April next year. I'll let my mood decide later lol

Broken Bowl

Broke a ceramic bowl by accident today. It's not the expensive kind but still... it's making me a bit sad. Tried fixing it with a strong glue (currently waiting for it to dry) since it actually looks pretty fine other than it breaking into two large pieces lol... I think it can still be used for non-food stuff. Also did the same with the broken plate from before but I haven't found what to do with it haha

Contrary to what I said yesterday, I finished reading "What You Are Looking for is in the Library" in the afternoon. Read one story(chapter) before falling asleep. Finished the remaining last story today. I think it's a pretty chill read. Not really life-changing (might be for other people) but still a good read - a standard solid good read - by being just efficient enough.

Made a big progress on reading "What You Are Looking for is in the Library" today. I'll try finishing it tonight (or around midnight). ...although, I do feel sleepy at this moment so I might change my mind later lol

My reading stamina(?) is still low most of the time. Sometimes I become impatient - I can't sit long enough to finish a book in one or two sitting(s). Other times I just can't stay focused for so long *sigh*~~~ oh well...

Yesterday I did some tiny cleaning (which just involved the bed area really lol) in my room and that, unsurprisingly, made it very comfortable to sleep at night. Is this a sign for me to do more?

*sigh* What I really need to do is deal with the dust (haaaah~~~)... but because I suspect I have dust allergy, I'm forever dreading to clean them. I don't like having sneezing fits until my cheeks hurt :(

...I know I can start small but I really don't wanna~~~
