Reading Slump is a Go

Yup, very much still kind of in a reading slump... which I've embraced fully(?) as mood reading. Like, it's not I stopped reading completely... I still read just not much as before. It's almost like a dormant period of some sort lol - everything is happening in slow motion XD

First Book

Unfortunately (and humorously, I must add), the reading situation makes my journey of reading books at the place I pick flowers more noticeable. It probably didn't help that the first book I finished this year is "The Giant Bathroom Reader" lol (mentioned in a post from October 2023). Honestly, that's a book that really lives up to its title. It's full of short and brief paragraphs... and most of the time with gory and gross details, definitely not something you want to read while eating a meal.

Reading ≠ Buying Books
It's kind of hard to describe but nowadays I'm very sceptic and pessimistic of books with nice covers and synopses. But at the same time, if it's something I do have interest in, I just want to get it so that I have it ready when I want to read it. Definitely not a healthy way to do it but I do more side-eyeing these days so it balances out in the end...?

Youtube

Honestly, I've been skipping more and more reading videos recently due to my reading slump/mood. If I don't skip, then they'll be videos I put on the background (and it remains uncertain if I'm able to listen to it properly or not). Most of the time I became sceptic and think "Was it really good though?". Sometimes books hauls are just another yapfest - I wish some of them just skip the synopses (or do a more brief synopsis)... Also, I still have problems with voices (just like back in February) so I usually DNF those videos as soon as I feel irritated.

Reading in the Future...?

It should be obvious at this point that the future is dim XD. I probably will focus more on series that I do love and a few of the ones I'm interested in (yeah, reading is slumping but curiosity stays on, totally unrelated). Reading will be slow and sporadic.

#SpotifyWrapped and YT's Gaming Recap

Honestly, I feel like I've been listening to music on Spotify even less this year lol

7th Time Loop anime opening theme song.
I'm very obsessed with the bridge before the chorus - it's very addicting - I just want to listen to that part again and again XD

If I remember correctly, the top songs were pretty much from the first half of 2024... "The Legend of ShenLi" instrumental opening theme made into Top 5 XD. Also, 7th Time Loop anime's ending theme... what's amazing about this is... I haven't even finish watching both shows lol

I feel like I need to explain "Romantic Love Song"... Apparently it was from the time I've been listening to Westlife's albums in February haha

Well, I don't know why Shonen is mentioned there lol (probably one of the anime theme songs I was listening trigger this?) - that's like my least favourite genre of manga. I just don't like how long and harem-y they can get sometimes.
[I'll still read/watch them if the story is interesting but I most probably will be out/DNF when the big boobies appear 😑]

Honestly, I thought this would change seeing how little I've been listening but now I'm glad to know it's still them

Belated Updates

Kind of just realised that I didn't post anything on the first day of the month :P

Anyway... nothing new really.

Oh yeah. I got sick since Friday... so that's been fun :/ *sigh*
Funny thing is my hearing is more sensitive (hormones?) recently and certain songs and voices sound extra fine... I want to sing along to songs I'm listening on Spotify, while being sick. Such great time to be sick, right? XD. It is kind of perfect timing to practise singing songs with low notes though (but that might not be healthy for the throat on the long run :P.. honestly not easy to do anyway because I keep wanting to cough.. or be out of breath because of congested nose lol)

Still in a slow(?) reading period. Started reading a manga recently (after finishing Vol 2 of "7th Time Loop") and it's a nice... palate cleanser. Reading light-hearted shoujo manga in between books are very much recommended!

I'm also slowly going through my Watch Later playlist. I fast-forward parts I think I don't need to see, cut out (=remove) videos I'm not interested in watching anymore from the playlist... although I'm running out of videos that I could play in the background (oh well). I try not adding new videos whenever possible.

Oh yeah, finally finished posting a year worth of posts on my Wordpress blog(?). I called it my "On This Day" archive blog. It's similar to the list of posts I do yearly in this blog (here's this year's).. but it's by day format. Mostly it's made for my own convenience - you can take a look if you want to since it's public lol.

Before we leave September...

It's kind of funny thinking about it now but I was planning on updating this blog more often this month (since it's my birthday month)... and it obviously doesn't happen XD

I don't think anything significant happened since the last time I posted...

Reading is still slow as of now... even though I'm rereading the "7th Time Loop" series. BUT.. I think I benefit more from reading this slowly because I feel like I'm savouring the story more meaningfully, for some reason. Like I'm noticing some stuff and remembering more details. That's fun in its own way.
Oh right, I also decreased (yet again, last time was in April) my daily reading goal again to a mere "1 page per day" Yep, it has reached this level. I think it's at "it's either that or I'll stop reading altogether" level.
Currently looking for an alternative(s) to Evernote... that also means I need to housekeep the notes I have now, like, more strictly. *sigh* I do might end up re-subscribing for some more time because it's so hard to organise the notes I have on only one device (They count the web version as one device too *sigh*)...

Had so much playing (& replaying twice, lol) Xiangli Yao's event story. Zhezhi's companion story had to be done during the event if you want to get her gift (a fan) at the end of the Moon-chasing event.

I couldn't get the last copy of Aalto that I wanted. I kept getting Mortefi (for some reason), Danjin & Yuanwu lol
Totally happy (and fine) with Youhu being in Jiyan's banner
Of course, I've ascended/upgraded Xiangli Yao to Level 90! I've been fighting Scar (which is fun to do with Yao btw! It's like watching a scene from wuxia or xianxia Cdrama) every week since the day I claimed him. Will continue to fight him a few more times in the future for Spectro Rover...
Oh yeah.. Xiangli Yao's the second resonator I have with maxed-out skills (Jiyan's third lol). Did his first because he's in my current [overworld] team. It wasn't easy but it is more convenient to get the materials needed after reaching UL60.

I couldn't get Xiangli Yao's signature weapon for this account *sad sigh*... but at least now I'm sure I can get Jiyan's signature weapon in less than 20 pulls??? This account is totally skipping the Shorekeeper lol

Since I have more experience with the game now, I feel like I'm levelling up the Union level faster in my alternate accounts lol.. I was hoping that I could catch a breath in 1.3 but hmmmm.. maybe not. I still need to do 1.1 stuff in those accounts so that I can progress for 1.3. I probably will be skipping a lot of scenes (since I already went through them) to help me progress faster.

WuWa - I finally beat that Level 120 Lightcrusher!
Unfortunately, I didn't take a screenshot of getting the trophy pop-up because I was too excited haha

Yup Jiyan didn't survive XD (had to revive the team several times)

I have a Level 120 Lumiscale Construct & a pair of Lvl 100 Glacio Dreadmanes left... *sigh*

I'm not really good at dodging so my strategy (lol) for this was... Aalto. He saved me when I stumbled upon Scorpion's Nest (my Rover & Jiyan were dead at that point) by killing the remaining Diamondclaws. Started appreciating him more after that lol. At first he was just that convenient gun character :P... I chose him because I kinda like how he looks. Didn't realised until later that he's actually a good fit for the team (I just have to use him first before Jiyan). I did changed his main echo (usually it's Bell-Borne Geochelone) to Lumiscale Construct because it can parry attacks (and actually gave higher Glacio damage, I noticed, although that's not the main point lol). I also waited until I could get Aalto's skills (the important ones, at least) to Level 7 or 8 and his weapon (Static Mist) upgraded to Level 80.

M3GAN

Oh hey, finally finished watching this last night (3 days ago so... 7/26)... Oof. It's not good. I find the main characters annoying and unlikable. The true villain is the aunt really... Also, it's kind of annoying how the characters kept asking questions (I sound like I'm nit-picking at this point lol)... I guess they really don't want to tell why M3GAN is like that (content for the sequel, maybe?). [Anyway.. saw a review on Letterboxd that mentioned about the Asimov's First Law of Robotics... Unfortunately, the programming of the robot in this one totally didn't follow that XD which is... fine(?), I guess, if they want to do it their rules. But it still feels dirty for some reason.. which brings us back again to the aunt being the villain for not thinking far enough]

I stumbled upon this site few nights ago. It's interesting to compare my records with their estimated time of finishing a book. I did their reading test and got 227/232 WPM (honestly it's not the kind that is easy for me to read so I'm not surprised I got that). I think it really depends on the genre and writing style really. In my case, at least. When I'm obsessed with the book/series, it's like I read faster than usual lol

Forgotten Post

Forgot to post about these yesterday~

I received some books:
~~Haven't even open the package yet so I'll update with photo later~~~

I had a phase in my life where I was quite obsessed with the manga of "True Love Fades Away When the Contract Ends"... I was going to read the WN but I got distracted lol. It's not isekai... more of a historical fiction romance and I love the main characters! I want to see how they get together. Anyway, it was a nice surprise to see that it got officially translated into English.

Oh yeah, after I finished reading "The Ark Sakura" (just an okay read, but I want to read more from the author), I just casually(?) decided that I'm rereading 7th Time Loop light novels :P

Thanks to my [selective] crappy memory, it feels like it's my first time reading it again lol... of course, I remember the major events but honestly some small, detailed parts make me go "Oh I don't remember this from before" or "Oh yeah, this happened...".

So far, some of the things are:

Rishe thought Arnold is beautiful in the beginning (totally can relate XD... seeing the illustrations in the light novel reminds me again how handsome he is)
I don't like Mary. She's the girl who snatched Rishe's ex-fiancé away. Rishe doesn't hate her but remembering how she told lies about Rishe which made Clown Prince Dietrich do the whole condemnation & engagement-breaking thing, I don't need/want to like her. It wasn't a focus in the light novel (though there are extras in the manga about her sob story), but her character can easily be like one of those cockroach b*tches. I guess it's fortunate she sounds like a clever one at least but still... don't need her~! (Can't wait for the story to move on to Galkhein)
I remember this one but it still surprises me that Rishe's parents are so horrible. They wouldn't even let her get her stuff after knowing the broken engagement. Gah! I guess it makes it easier for us (the readers) - we don't have to care about her family.
It's mentioned that Rishe learnt how to use a sword for basic self-defence during her noble lady days. So it shouldn't be suspicious that she's able to wield one (although I guess what Arnold find interesting is that she acts like a trained knight/swordswoman, which was an experience she got from her 6th life)

...that's all for now. I've been reading super slowly. Reading hasn't been smooth-sailing these past couple of months. Now it feels like I want to read everything but I don't want to read fast (or maybe I just can't sit down long enough to read for a long period of time hmm).

New books:

"Azure & Claude" is new...? Doesn't look like it's the final volume (apparently it's on hiatus?). It has the tragedy tag though... not sure if I'm ready for that.

"A Tale of the Secret Saint" was totally an impulse-bought book XD.. It was around RM35 on Amazon SG (excluding shipping) so I didn't think much (like, just do it)... now it's at RM92++. Lucky!

... I don't know where I'll find the other volumes but let's think about that later!
There's also the kindle route (the price range is RM30-50 per volume) but I want something physical though, for things I love.

Preloved books

The most expensive (RM22) one in this pile is the manga! Which is understandable because it's pretty much still in a good condition (and less than half the original price!). The others are pretty random choices. Though I picked "Tempests and Slaughter" because Tamora Pierce is one of the authors recommended to DWJ fans... so I'll try reading that later.

For "The Third Twin" & "Artemis", kind of curious of the authors' writing styles so I 'grabbed' anything I could find lol... "Hypothermia" was a totally random choice.

Games
I really couldn't forget the feeling of playing nonograms lol... I did find a few of them on Steam so that's settled(?) for now :P. It isn't very fun to play on the phone so I prefer the ones I can play on PC.

Oh yeah... saw that both Orwell games were (are?) on sale so I ended up getting those too. I can't wait to replay them!

Currently, I'm low-key obsessed with the game "Wuthering Waves"~!... It's so funny how it happened XD

I first saw it became available on Epic Store & was curious enough to install it but didn't go through with the full installation (I didn't have enough disk space). Then I saw someone I subscribed to on Youtube played it on stream and got interested.

Anyway, one of the characters that I could play (can you believe it? I managed to get Jiyan & Calcharo!) as is someone that has dragon(?) power. I play the game using Japanese audio so imagine my surprise when I see who Jiyan's voice actor is... Ono Yuki! His voice sounded deeper than the ones I usually heard of him so I'm kind of disappointed I didn't guess it's him (but still super happy!).. The only one I recognised is Lingyang (Hanae Natsuki).

As of now, I've done the main story (whatever is available for now). I don't know if it's the best (or worst?) time (hormotional) for me to play the game because I cried doing some of the side quests.. seriously, what the heck was that? Usually it's the ones that caught me off-guard that made me cried buckets (like that one grandpa that wanted to get some cool echoes to court someone :P)

Dark Thoughts

Reading has been... annoying.

I guess it's just the usual(?) reading slumps...? Although I am feeling a bit more mean in my head recently so that might has some kind of effects or something. I couldn't stand watching some videos on books/reading on Youtube so I've been DNFing them (the only times I like to use the term lol). I kid you not, mean-me was thinking how pretentious some of them are. I was rolling my eyes mentally, physically, subconsciously, and at times, belatedly (as I question myself why am I even watching this lol). I must be in my dark thoughts era (or... it could just be PMS symptoms *sigh*. They are usually that).

Oh yeah. Decided to decrease my daily reading pages goal again by half. It's either 5 pages per day or 5 months (or more) of not/barely reading any physical books. Of course that's an exaggeration... but I'm pretty sure I'm capable of doing that. Well, it might still happen in the future...

Some preloved books arrived in the mail today~

Thanks to me (I guess lol) for going through the to-read shelf on GR XD... I was lucky - I found these two for sale on Shopee.

"My Lady's Choosing: An Interactive Romance Novel" - It took me almost six years to finally meet this book haha... I don't remember why I want to read this but it being "Interactive Romance Novel" probably played a major part :P.. it's a "Choose Your Own Adventure" kind of book.

I tried searching for it online and it doesn't look easy to get [from Amazon, it's not available on Kino]. Shopee was the last place I checked and yes(!), one seller has (had) it!

"The Keeper of Lost Causes" - It has a different cover on GR (the one I have is similar to this ← ended up using this edition on GR because of the similar cover & it has amount of pages, although it's 7 pages short lol). I vaguely remember why I want to read this XD... I think I saw a review about translated mystery books...? Or maybe I just saw it in the recommendation section on GR.

Almost three years ago lol... At least it isn't as bad as almost-six years?

Again, I don't know when I'll read these... but it might be sooner than expected. When the mood strikes? Although I do feel like more "I don't wanna read today~~~" kind of mood recently *sigh* (10 pages done and... I'm out! XD)

I read the 4th Volume of "7th Time Loop" manga after "that book where the main couple had a misunderstanding & didn't communicate effectively for 4 f*cking years" as- ...I ~~don't really want to~~ won't call it that but yes, it acts as a palate cleanser (AND I refuse to call it that!)- ... Rishe & Arnold might have been keeping secrets from each other but at least they COMMUNICATE with each other [sometimes even effectively!]... at least, I'm sure they won't take 4 years! *clearly I'm still salty about it lol*

Title of this post is "-2" because it's two books off the to-read GR shelf and not about me being salty(?) lol... it wasn't even on my mind after doing the post. Just got reminded after seeing it on top of my blog haha (I guess it's fine now that I published this post to "push" the post down?) ---sorry, I just like to explain why I do some things :P (hey, it's communication!)

3 Books and a Bookmark

Received these books today...

Now I can continue reading "7th Time Loop" [Vol 4] manga and "Last Boss Queen" [Vol 5] light novel~~~ After I'm done with "To Have and to Hoax", of course. I'm kinda feeling monogamous with my reading nowadays lol...it's taking me some time to read that because I had a hard time accepting 4 years of non-communication 😑. I like the way it's written but that 4 years thing kept haunting me in the beginning.

The other book is a John Wyndham short stories collection. He's one of the new-to-me authors I've read in these past few years that I look forward to reading their other works. Yes. Obviously(?), I like him enough to get one with short stories :P.. well, coincidentally, I also want to try the non-continuous reading mode in the ReadMore app so there's that too...

Since this year is a dragon year, I decided to get a bookmark with a dragon on it XD

7th Time Loop anime is starting tomorrow but unfortunately it's not available for Malaysian audience on Muse Asia's channel --- it makes me soooo sad! It's possible that it might be available in the future but that means I can't watch it as soon as possible.... Unless... *mumbles* it's not like I need English subs anyway *mumbles*

I am still kind of in an anime watching slump so I guess it's fine (for now) but I still don't like not having access to something I want. It just makes me obsess on it more :(

I could spend those time re-reading the light novels (and web novel!)... Re-reading the manga last month did make me want to go back to that Rishe and Arnold's world again...

It's something like Spotify Wrapped, I guess...?

There's a bit difference regarding the pages I read [so far] this year with Goodread's data but I won't think much of it lol... (I did add the amount of pages to those without it but it still doesn't match after regenerating).

Anyway, since LT has the almost complete record of my books, it has the most updated amount of books... including how much new ones get entered...

--"Unknown Author" is supposed to be Hideo Yokoyama *sigh* I don't know why the imported data from Amazon is like that

Fangirling Over Rishe Again

Started re-reading 7th Time Loop manga and I'm falling in love with Rishe again~~~ Volume 1 is so, so, so good (great manga adaptation of the web novel/light novel series) 😭 I can't wait until they get to arcs from the newer volumes of the light novels... Falling in love with Arnold (again) will happen later as I (the reader) am still cautious of his motives (LOL I say this even though it's like the third time I'm rereading the manga haha #rereadingisgreat) but it's so much fun seeing him falling(?) for Rishe again~!

Despite what I said way back in September, I've yet continue reading the web novel (because I got distracted by manhwas muahaha)... might actually do it this year as part of "Things I want to read before the year ends" stuff 😅 ...although not reading is a nice option too, since the fifth volume of the light novel (English translation) is coming out in April next year. I'll let my mood decide later lol

Yeah... just saw the trailer just now.... why does it makes me want to reread the light novels again...???

CMBF #8

Finished watching both parts today. Ah... I love the final song ("第一次做人") that was performed by Nicky Lee, Zhang Yuan & Derek Ma. It was such an emotional performance that I also cried a bit... Also, men that shed tears are beautiful~!😊😭 A well-deserved high score!

Anyway, watching the performances before them reminded me again how hard work doesn't always give what you aim for. No guarantee you'll get what you want. Of course, that doesn't mean you should stop... and I guess it's fine if you think you deserve to get them because you worked hard for it but sometimes it just don't go smoothly.

I completed both my small goals last month. Finished adding read books on Storygraph in two days (I think that's the fastest lol). The two books from my "Currently Reading" page are the remaining two books from the jar. Finished reading "Midnight in Austenland" first (Aug 15th). The second book "The Mum Who'd Had Enough" was finished on Aug 20th.

I guess it's time to deal with those tabs... It's over 100 tabs at this moment :P. I won't aim high. I just want to get it under 100 tabs. That's all.

Ahhh I'm feeling kind of sad after finishing Volume 4! Really, really loving the development in Rishe and Arnold's relationship (Urrrgggh I LOVE THEM!!!! I want them to be happy~~~! Please be happy!).

...haaah so it's time for the web novel, huh. I'm guessing we'll be "meeting" people from Rishe's 6th life next.

Speaking of her lives... I finally have a complete list of what she became in her past lives (it was fun gathering them!). ~~I'm putting the list here for my own satisfaction lol~~

...aaaahh

I'm near the end of Volume 4 and I feel nervous...! It was fun reading about their "fight" (because it's declared one-sidedly) though.. I mean Rishe kinda turned into a Tsundere (LOL) during the fight - an adorable one too, partially due to lack of experience - and Arnold was sweet to her the whole time. Gah! How is it that they can be heart-warming and worrisome at the same time???

Anyway... I've started looking for the next book to read and it scares me. It's too risky. What if it's not good....??? Better stick to books I have yet to finish, I guess. Haaaah... but I might change my mind later.. I don't know...

I'm being mean again today

I was in the middle of reading Volume 4 of "7th Time Loop" when a thought came to me. I might not want to read the web novel after this...??? Like, I don't want to spoil myself... or want to keep it a surprise or something???

NAAAHHH I'm just afraid of reading what's ahead I guess... I'm worried that something bad will happen (though it's already implied that from the beginning duh!) Ahhh this author always write stories like these...! I am reading two of her other stories that also have this "danger lurking behind" feeling to it... [& without shame] I ate it all up. Can't help it, my kind of story :P

In the end, I think I would read the web novel anyway... Out of fervent curiosity (unfortunately)... and fear of missing out. I need to know as much as I can...

"The Forest of Wool and Steel" - This is about piano-tuners! Which I think is quite rare to find in fiction books.

Had a polarizing reaction towards anime today. The latest episode of "The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior" (#10) was crazy good (Pride was too cool near the end 😭🤩)... and then latest episode of "Sugar Apple Fairy Tale" (#22) [grrh almost typed out "Sugar Honey Iced Tea" this time] was... MEH 😑😒.

I really don't like Anne, huh. At this point, it's just me hate-watching the show. Like, I can't wait for this anime to end because I don't want to watch her anymore! When the villain talked about wiping out humans (not exact words), I find myself agreeing with him lol...[....and here I am siding(?) with the villains again *sigh*]. The only scenes I can watch are scenes without Anne. Barely. Because some of them like to talk about her. (WHO CARES) If only there's a way to automatically blur out her appearance in the anime... and maybe mute her lines because I don't wanna hear her speak a word 🙄

Can't stop reading

...I couldn't stop at 50 pages today. I jumped straight into Volume 3 after finishing Volume 2. What the heck is happening??? I really want to read what will happen next but at the same time I don't want to because I'm scared. Anyway, loving the interaction between Rishe and Arnold in this volume~ (especially now she has allowed him to touch her)... I really want a peek into his point of view! I wonder if there'll be one (or more) in the future...

Another slow brain day today.

Received the other two "7th Time Loop" light novels (Volume 3 and 4) in the mail today! Just in time before I finish Volume 2~! Took about a month because Volume 4 wasn't in stock at Kinokuniya. Also purchased "Fish Swimming in Dappled Sunlight" which sounds interesting from the synopsis. When I'm going to read it is another matter. Maybe tomorrow, maybe this week... maybe next month...

It's weird. I think I'm still suffering from the effects of skipping a night's sleep. Even though it has already been days. *sigh* It's mostly slow brain days (and some clumsiness and poor reflex) now but it's still not fun. Strangely, I'm feeling happy for no clear reasons. Probably another effect.

Also, can't stand slowness today. I feel like putting all the Youtube videos I'm watching on 1.5x speed.

It's Friday...

It's raining again...

...Happy Birthday to me~!

It's a pretty uneventful birthday though... unless you count having no water supply as one of those events (I refuse). *sigh* It's unfortunate that it has to happen on this day.. I do hope it will be back tomorrow. At this moment, I'm not feeling the stress yet. Ignorance was a bliss yesterday - Did laundry (using water from the tank) without a care in the world (ooof). Haaaah... this things, you usually only notice it after they happened.

Lol this post is turning gloomy at this point... it's not that really! Just another normal Friday here. I'm having fun reading "7th Time Loop" light novels (currently reading Volume 2) because I noticed there are a few small details not mentioned in the manga version. Been listing out Rishe's lives (there are two that I don't know what she decided to live as)... and some theories related to Arnold. Okay, now I'm excited!... since I can continue reading the web novel after the light novels... I doubt there'll be any answers but at least I can read ahead...?
